It's good hotel special animation team and The food

  • fits k2026-08-01

The hotel's location is decent, with the airport nearby. We arrived in the morning and had to wait six hours in the lobby before our rooms were ready. After a long queue to enter the restaurant, you had to rush to find a seat, plates, or crockery. Sadly, if the food had run out, I advised you to leave the restaurant. It’s important to be friendly with members of staff and have good intentions with a tip, or you might spoil your holiday. The food was bad. Don’t complain about the food; I saw a woman complain because there was no croissant for breakfast. The restaurant gave her a leftover from the tables, which she didn’t notice. I saw them do this, but I was too cowardly to act. The bartender might tell you they don’t have water now, so be prepared to drink any beverage. Overall, it was a disastrous holiday. However, the Tunisian people are friendly, and restaurant food outside the hotel is not bad. Avoid booking four-star hotels; only choose five-star hotels The room was not bad, but there was water leaking in the corridor; you can say we had a swimming pool outside our door, and management could not be bothered to fix it. Don't believe positive reviews because the same hotel staff were asking guests to write positive reviews, and they were asking if they could write on behalf of the guests. Personally, I don’t recommend Abou Safina Hotel.

    Foarte bun

My family and I stayed at Abou Sofiane for 12 days as a group of 9 people, and overall we had a fantastic holiday. For the price we paid, we really couldn’t complain too much, and we left with some amazing memories. In fact, we’re already hoping to come back soon because we’re all missing Abou Sofiane very dearly! First of all, the weather during our stay was absolutely beautiful, which made the whole holiday even better. The hotel itself was pleasantly clean, and housekeeping did a brilliant job every single day. They came to our rooms daily, kept everything tidy, and always surprised us by making adorable towel animals and other creative towel decorations. It was such a lovely little touch that always put a smile on our faces. The beach is honestly one of the highlights of this hotel. It’s beautiful, clean, and the sea is lovely. If you’re interested in water sports, I’d definitely recommend booking directly with the people on the beach rather than through the man who comes around the hotel trying to sell excursions and activities. The beach water sports team are an absolute laugh, really friendly, easy to talk to, and overall just make the experience much more enjoyable. The hotel also has water slides, which were brilliant fun for both children and adults. I really liked how they weren’t open continuously throughout the day but instead opened at multiple well-timed intervals. It meant the crowds were spread out much better, queues stayed reasonable, and everyone got a chance to enjoy them without them becoming overwhelmingly busy. Another highlight was the foam (mousse) party organised by the animation team. It was so much fun and had everyone laughing, dancing and joining in. It created such a great atmosphere around the pool, and it’s one of those memories that our family will definitely remember for a long time. The bar staff deserve a massive shout-out. Whether you were at the reception bar or the pool bar, they were always smiling, welcoming, and happy to serve everyone despite how busy they often were. They work incredibly hard and always tried their best to keep everyone happy. Unfortunately, they also had to deal with some incredibly rude guests at times. During our stay, there were several occasions where people would push in front of queues at the bars or shove past others for food. The staff usually stepped in and sorted it out quickly, but if they didn’t notice, don’t be afraid to politely call people out. One incident that really shocked us was when an Algerian woman physically shoved some of my younger family members out of the way just to get food. They were only little children, and it was completely unnecessary and honestly ridiculous. This obviously isn’t the hotel’s fault, but it did affect the holiday atmosphere at times because queue etiquette seemed to disappear whenever meal times came around. The lifeguards were another group of staff who really made our holiday special. Every day they greeted everyone with a smile, had a laugh with guests, and genuinely seemed to care that everyone was having a good time. They always brightened our day. Now onto what I think is the heart and soul of the hotel - the animation team. These people deserve the world. They work unbelievably hard every single day for what feels like nearly 12 hours in the Tunisian heat. They’re constantly dancing, entertaining, talking to guests, checking everyone is okay, encouraging people to join activities, and somehow still manage to stay full of energy from morning until late at night. I honestly don’t think they get enough credit, and I genuinely don’t think they get paid enough for everything they do for that hotel. A special thank you to Mou Heb, Khalil and Jamacia, who made our holiday unforgettable. They are some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet and really make you feel like part of one big family. Whether it was the games around the pool, evening entertainment, aqua aerobics, Zumba, yoga or simply stopping for a chat, they always made the effort with everyone regardless of age. They are a huge reason why we’d love to return. The evening entertainment is another huge reason we’d happily return. Every single night there was something different happening, and the atmosphere around the hotel was absolutely fantastic. The music, dancing and overall environment created such a fun, welcoming vibe where people of all ages could get involved, laugh together and make memories. After the dancing each evening, the animation team would host a different game show or interactive activity, which kept the entertainment fresh and gave everyone something to look forward to. We especially loved the Tunisian night, where they celebrated their culture through traditional music, dancing and performances. It was a brilliant way for tourists to experience more of Tunisia and appreciate its culture beyond just staying at the hotel. The animation team also organised a social event where tourists could come together, chat and make new friends during their holiday. It was such a thoughtful idea and really helped create a friendly community atmosphere around the hotel. Throughout the day, the music around the pool was always a vibe too. There was always something upbeat playing to keep the atmosphere lively, but one of my favourite parts of the day was just before dinner when they’d put on funk and soul classics while everyone was getting ready for the evening. It created such a chilled, feel-good atmosphere and became one of those little things we looked forward to every day. Of course, no hotel is perfect, and there are definitely areas where Abou Sofiane could improve. The biggest issue for us was the restaurant. There is no air conditioning, and it becomes unbelievably hot inside, especially during busy meal times. Thankfully, there is outdoor seating which is much nicer when the weather allows. The food itself is mostly Mediterranean and continental. As British guests, it wasn’t always what we’d normally eat back home, but that’s something people need to remember—you aren’t in England, you’re in Tunisia. We actually enjoyed trying different foods, although I do think the hotel could improve by offering a wider variety to cater for more international guests. If you’re not a particularly picky eater, you’ll be absolutely fine. The reception staff were probably the weakest part of the hotel. Sadly, we found several of the receptionists to be quite rude, dismissive and lacking in customer service skills. A smile and a bit more patience would go a long way. On the other hand, the Guest Relations lady was absolutely lovely. She was always approachable, kind and genuinely wanted to help guests with any issues they had. She really is an asset to the hotel. Our bathroom also needed some attention. The shower drainage doesn’t work properly because of the way it’s tiled, meaning the water doesn’t drain away as it should. We often found ourselves literally having to push the water towards the drain with our feet to stop the bathroom flooding. It’s a simple maintenance issue that would make a big difference. Another disappointment was discovering that some advertised facilities simply aren’t available. The hotel lists amenities such as a gym and spa, but these weren’t actually there during our stay. That does feel misleading and should either be corrected or the facilities reinstated. The animation team do offer activities like Zumba, yoga and aqua aerobics, which are great alternatives for keeping active, but they’re not the same as having access to a gym or spa. The Wi-Fi also needs serious improvement. It simply isn’t strong enough for the number of guests staying at the hotel. It only really works properly near reception and in a handful of nearby rooms, so if you’re staying elsewhere in the hotel, don’t expect a reliable connection. Although the hotel is generally clean, there is still room for improvement in some areas. Nothing was dirty enough to ruin our holiday, but with a little more attention to detail, it could be excellent rather than just good. Overall though, I genuinely think Abou Sofiane offers fantastic value for money. We spent 12 wonderful days there as a family of nine, made memories we’ll never forget, and met some truly amazing staff who made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. A huge thank you again to all of the reception and pool bar staff, the incredible animation team (especially Mou Heb, Khalil and Jamacia), the wonderful Guest Relations lady, the hardworking lifeguards, and the fantastic housekeeping team who looked after us every single day. Despite the few negatives, we had an amazing holiday and are already looking forward to hopefully returning very soon. Until next time, Abou Sofiane!
