Barut Goia

An amazing anniversary/summer holiday. This hotel is amazing. Everything about it from start to finish was perfect! The hotel staff went above and beyond for us. We travelled for a week myself, husband and 10 months old baby boy. Special mention to Gones - our drinks glasses were never empty and she even gave me a hair bobble one night when my hair was down and I was too hot. Absolutely amazing waitress Fatma - in the restaurant for always bringing us our morning and lunchtime drinks, she even got to know what we drank! Emine- for constantly cleaning up whatever our son decided to feed to the floor (sorry) The cleaning staff who I cannot fault! We loved the food here, the buffet is the best I've ever had. The A La cartes were also really nice. We ate in both, and Olea for lunch. The hotel thinks of everything and honestly anyone who moans...well you need to get a grip. We didn't visit the beach for long as it was so hot and no shade but it was lovely. The entertainment at night was varied, we always sat outside as our son is a bit young and generally asleep by then but when he was awake he liked to watch through the window. I used the hairdressers twice, again amazing service and so friendly. The effort the hotel went to on our anniversary was beautiful and so appreciated. We'll definitely be back!

We had the most incredible stay at Barut Goia! From start to finish, everything was flawless. The hotel is beautifully clean, modern, and boasts fantastic pools and slides that the kids couldn't get enough of. The mini club was exceptional. Our 4 and 7-year-olds were genuinely excited to visit every day, which is a testament to the wonderful, attentive team, including Yasemin and Yami. Dining was another major plus, offering great food with a massive selection to suit all tastes. We especially loved sneaking away to the patisserie for high-quality coffee—it was a lovely treat for a quiet date. Down at the coast, the beach is well-maintained and never felt crowded, offering plenty of sun loungers. Special thanks to Angel, whose warm hospitality made us feel welcome and valued every single day. A flawless five stars!

It was nice, basic. Staff friendly especially Anastasia in the restaurant, super lovely. Restaurant i found quite small compared to others I've stayed in. The food was 'ok' be prepared for all the flies though, especially on the nuce bariery of puddings. Always plenty of fresh fruit too. Shops downstairs were handy. Supermarket and the little shop with little trinkets etc were OK and found the staff in their friendly and very helpful, especially the chap in the shop. Coach just outside hotel takes u straight to beach just hop on. To return back to hotel it cones every 20mins or so. Beach really nice sandy and restaurant with plenty of sunbeds. We were in rooms in the 2000's Seaview facing which was really quiet in the evenings and massive balcony. Air con wasn't as 'cold' as I'd like but it done the job. Beds including sofa bed are hard! Usually a topper in the drawer, but makes little difference. Make sure you try and grt a late check out asap as it gets booked really fast. Reception staff really nice though and although u may not have ur room from 12 they get you have full use of all facilities and they have showers etc and lockers aswell as the norm luggage room. Evening entertainment was ok. To get to Old town with all the shops etc you can either do the 30+ min walk (super hot) or taxi just outside who charge 600 lira which is nothing really, and hopefully not always take u right into old town, but some stop at the barrier. On the up side u get to walk past all the ruins. Can get a taxi back with ease charging the same 600 lira. Don't miss the Friday pool party with foam, that was a highlight we enjoyed. Trips we went and booked in town rather than the Rep as cheaper. We done the adrenaline one! Be warned although super fun, they do try and get you to buy lots whilst on trip. If u do the buggy one, take a scarf and sunglasses as these are not provided. Boat trips are always good, unfortunately I didn't get a chance this time round. All in all i wouldnt stay again, but it was Ok. Any questions feel free to ask.

We’ve only been here a few days, but having read so many positive reviews before arriving, we came with really high expectations and there are definitely things we’ve been impressed with so far. The food has been lovely so far and honestly, we can’t fault it. The drinks have also been very good and I like that there are large bowls filled with bottles of water on the bars so that you can just help yourself rather than queue for water if that’s all you want. The rooms are lovely, clean comfortable and spacious and there is lots going on entertainment-wise day and night. The one thing that has really stood out to us though, is how understaffed the hotel appears to be. There can be one person serving drinks with a queue of 15 people, and it can take such a long time to get served that we’ve started ordering two drinks each whenever we finally reach the bar. At one point I genuinely felt like getting behind the bar and helping them out! I had read so many wonderful reviews about how friendly and attentive the staff are, but what we’re actually seeing is a lot of staff who look incredibly busy, stressed and overworked. It’s difficult to judge the service fairly when they simply don’t seem to have enough people to cope with the number of guests. We’ve also had to clear tables ourselves on a few occasions just to be able to sit down, as glasses and other items often aren’t cleared when guests leave the bar areas. It’s a real shame, because this has the potential to be an amazing hotel. The staffing situation is the one thing that is really taking away from the experience, and I honestly think the staff deserve more support. With more people on the ground, I can imagine this hotel could be absolutely fantastic.

We saw amazing reviews on here for this hotel, which prompted us to book at short notice this summer just 4 weeks before our holiday. We stayed for 8 nights 27 July until 4 August. 2 adults 2 children (5 and 7). We had a duluxe room on the ‘quiet side’. Lovely decor and spotless. My parents joined us and had a duluxe room on the ‘noisy side’, which was identical in decor and quality to ours. We had clean towels every day and all beds were made. We didn’t make much mess and can’t comment on whether floors were swept/hoovered/moped but were happy with how clean our rooms were. Fridge was replenished every day with juice, water, soft drinks. When they realised there were 2 children they duplicated the fridge refreshments which was a lovely thought and meant the kids weren’t arguing over 1 bottle of Fanta! For both noisy and quiet sides, evenings were not disruptive. We all slept well and it was generally quiet. Children slept on the settee beds, decent size and comfy. Our bed was firm, which was good for us. Lots of pillow sizes. Slides on noisy side were fab, kids absolutely loved them. So did the adults. The pool area felt messy though. Too many people for the available space and this made it feel over crowded. The fake grass on the bridge over the pool was too hot to walk on without flip flops / sandals - just a comment. Some choice language coming from groups of adults lounging in the shallow areas of the pool with their drinks on our first afternoon, which put us off having our small children with us. This prompted us to investigate the other side, which is identical to the noisy side in layout minus slides. We could never get a bed on the busy side and were arriving at the pool around 9.30-10am. We refused to join in on the early towel drop off . With the kids we only needed one bed really for someone who wanted to lay down and a place to leave our pool bag with their snorkels, pool toys, etc. while we played with them. It was awkward watching people finally arrive at their towelled beds after not being at the poolside for several hours. One morning we found 2 empty beds. Having sat on them for 15 mins we were approached by a lady who asked us why we were on her bed. It later transpired by an onlooker that staff had removed their towels (we were unaware). So by the end of the holiday I think management had started to remove towels on beds that were not occupied, which is a good thing. We ended up going to the quiet side which was a game changer for us. Our children made friends and we went to the noisy side for the slides and returned to the quiet pool when done. Quiet side bed situation was the same, however, many towels on beds unoccupied for hours. Clean Towels were changed downstairs in the spa every day, really quick and easy. Drinks were nice at all bars, ‘real coffee’ at the indoor patisserie. Instant coffee at the other drinks areas and bars. Icecream available in many places as well as pastries, all of which were lush. Children enjoyed the slushies and loved asking for their own drinks at the bars. Bar staff were happy and attentive. Food was lovely everywhere, for an all inclusive it was a fabulous selection and great quality. Everything hot! Went to both à la cartes - they were nice but not blown away. The Main issue for us as a family was flies in the restaurant! I’m lost as to why nobody has mentioned this in any recent reviews as for the 8 days we were there, flies were present at the buffet restaurant every single day and all over the tables at the Olea restaurant. In the buffet they were on food that was presented and on dining tables. Especially where the desserts were presented. We tried inside and outside seating areas on tables and moved several times on our second night then realised there was no area clear of flies. It put us off eating when going to pick food, flapping the flies off items while trying to pick something. All deserts and salads were uncovered with some hot dishes under hot lamps only. The area where the chefs prep and cook has dishes covered by lids and there were no issues there. Appreciate flies are hard to avoid when there’s doors to outdoor areas and food around but it was a big downer for us. Olea cooked lunch time fresh to order but flies were stuck to the tables. The waffles cooked outside at the noisy side were great too, bananas and chocolate sauce and then grab a scoop of icecream when we left to go with it! Staff were super, we know some Turkish phrases and they loved our attempts and banter. Reception were friendly. Beach was ok. It isn’t pristine but we had fun down there for a few hours one day. There were turtle nesting areas isolated on the beach, which I found interesting - we didn’t see any turtles though! Bus to beach was quick and easy, there and back with no issues. We took a taxi to Side harbour on two evenings, which took about 10 mins and it was such a beautiful setting looking down to sea, preserved historical groundwork and building work. Beautiful outlook just after sunset. Loads of quirky shops and places to eat and drink. We loved it! We also booked a private gullet and went on a 5 hour cruise with lunch, just family on board. We found and booked this online before we went. The hotel entertainment was great in terms of quality, they were external companies / acts rather than local or hotel entertainment. We were eating early to get in for 8 for the kids entertainment and ensure a seat (more seats probably needed I’d say). Main entertainment followed at 9.15. Over 8 nights we saw one magic show and the rest were dance shows, with different themes. Bit samey but quite dramatic so Kids enjoyed it. They loved the hotel song and dance (feel the magic in the air) and are still doing the dance moves at home. Brilliant involving the kids so they get up on the stage to do the dance and get involved. Entertainment clearly work hard and try to create a happy, vibrant atmosphere for all. The day we left, we checked out at midday and used the showers by the gym to wash and get ready to leave. It wasn’t busy and was really easy and clean! We would love to go back to Side so we can experience the harbour again. I’d personally hesitate to go back to Barut goia if we returned though. But this is ONLY because of the flies in the restaurant! It obviously impacted us more than others since this hasn’t been mentioned in other recent reviews. Everything else was as we had expected and we otherwise enjoyed our holiday! We may consider outside of summer holiday times in future, for a less crowded experience. I’m interested in the other Barut hotels in Turkey though if they are similar or better in offering compared to Barut Goia. Thanks everyone at Barut Goia! 🫶
