We have just returned from a week here and, unfortunately, we would not return. We travelled with three young boys aged 2, 3 and 8, and although we still had a lovely family holiday because we made the most of it, there were quite a few disappointments. We have been coming to Turkey for 10 years and absolutely love the country, but we do appreciate that prices have increased massively over recent years. This isn’t the hotel’s fault, but with the amount holidays now cost, we expected a much higher standard. The online photos are very misleading. Some images show the pools with the waterslides in the background from the hotel next door, making it look like they are part of this hotel when they are not. We paid an extra £250 for a swim-up room and, as a family with young children, we were glad we did. It meant our youngest could nap while the older two could still enjoy the pool. However, the room itself was nothing like the photos. It smelled, was very tired, and the upstairs balcony door did not lock. The biggest disappointment was the food. We are not fussy eaters, but for a hotel advertised as 5-star we found the standard closer to a 3-star. Breakfast we ate mainly pancakes as they were one of the only things we consistently enjoyed. We found the pool bar on the island was actually better than most of the main restaurant options, and we ended up spending a lot extra eating out. The island itself is a nice idea and it’s only around a 5-minute walk, so the distance isn’t an issue. However, it is surrounded by things that all come with an additional cost. With three young children, you can imagine how difficult that was when everything they could see and wanted to do came with a price tag. On a positive note, our room was cleaned daily, fresh towels were provided, drinks were replenished, and we appreciated the effort from the cleaners although they came round late a lot. the only time they came early was at 9am the day we were leaving although check out didn't have to be until 12 so felt like we had to leave. Overall, we still had a good holiday because we made our own fun and enjoyed spending time together, but the food, accommodation and overall value for money were disappointing. We would recommend doing plenty of research before booking, as we feel the money would be better spent on a higher-quality hotel.
We booked a swim up duplex room, for a family of 5 including 2 teenagers. We are so pleased we did as we had our own bit of pool to ourselves. You can upgrade when you arrive st the hotel, for around £280, far cheaper than booking this room in advance, but ofcourse you cant guaranteeavailability. The hotel and rooms are clean and tidy. We could always find something to eat at meal times, big range of choice. I cant comment on the kids food as i wasnt looking at that. All drinks are included in the all inclusive apart from cocktails. Don't bother paying for them, they are €10 each and you cant even taste any alcohol in them. The pool areas get really busy with young families, we went in early July, and I can imagine in the school holidays its even worse. Absolutely fine if you have young kids, but ours were teenagers. The island was great, lots to see and do, but very expensive! There are a couple of bars that are part of the all inclusive on the island but they only do Efes lager and wine (which wasn't nice). Any other alcoholic drinks and you either have to pay or walk back to the hotel which is about a 5 minute walk. But annoying if you want to relax by the beach of an evening. The beach has a lot of sand flies, so make sure you take insect repellent. We only managed to sit near there twice because the bites got too bad. They do a sunday market outside the hotel, which was worth the wonder round. We booked the pink jeep safari excursion, this was so much fun and we had a great time. I would recommend booking from. The men on the beach and not through the reps in the hotel as its a lot cheaper. Unfortunately we found that out after we had paid our rep. Our transfer was about 1hr and 30 mins which included a stop to allow us to use the toilet and visit a shop for drinks/food. There are shops in the hotel which pretty much do anything you would need, including a barbers. The evening entertainment wasn't great for a family of 3 adults and 2 teenagers. A lot better for young families. The water park was brilliant though and it did keep our teenagers very occupied every day. It was a safe complex and our 13 year olds were off enjoying themselves and just kept coming to find us to check in. We had a really great week, and would 100% come again. I have tried to be as honest as I can and i couldnt add more photos as they have my children in them
island kids club is a great place for children to play and relax in playful way. Nice staff.
Marin animation summer gang all very friendly welcoming and great activities for kids and adults alike. So far we are having a fab time no pressure to get involved but lots to do.
Honest review. Been to a few places ranging from 2 to 5 star. This is not a 5* Possibly a 3 and half maybe 4. To make it easy to read Ive split the review. Food. Food is good. Unless your a Beige Food eater or are super fussy get over yourselves. There is a wide selection of food throughout the day. (pictures of food times added) Breakfast buffet caters for everyone cereal eggs yoghurt pastries plus european dishes with veg etc (dont forget not everyone is a brit) Lunch and Dinner is good. Again wide selection. For the fussy eaters theres the plain pasta chips potatoes etc for others theres meat selection huge veg salad and other options with cakes etc for after. ALL WELL LABELLED The reviews about meat. Just FYI most people in turkey are muslim so dont eat prok so wont usually serve it for others either so you will get mostly Chicken Beef or Lamb. Those that have commented about flies in food the polite way to put it is take responsibility for yourself or kids and shut the food lids problem solved!! Hotel Itself. Marin doesnt have any water slides these are over at the Island which is accessed through a tunnel. The pictures show the slides for Eftalia Ocean and the Island. There two small hotel pools with ampal sunbed or private canbanas to be rented. (£20 a day) Yes the tunnel does smell but you are in it for about a minute or two depending on how fast you walk. It smells as you are walking under a motorway and you’ll have pipes etc above you or below you. Better than trying to cross a 6lane motorway. The hotel has shops, Turkish Bath, Barbers, Hairdressers and some arcades. One buffet restaurant two Alcarte whichbyou book the day before at 10am. The hotel is a basic all inclusive not an Ultra. Beers Wine and local spirits are free from most bars if the bar has a drinks guide its included in all inclusive. Marin Lobby bar serve Two cocktails included, at the bar just ask for extra strong if thats how you like it and they will put extra shot in it. Cocktail bar is not included in the inclusive thats all paid for. Pool bat was clean tidy and had food served at certain times so frok 1200 to 1600 ypu have choice of restruant lunch buffet or pool bar food usually pizza chips kebabs and burgers. Room/Hotel. Room was clean and spacious. Overall the hotel was clean and always cleaners and staff wandering around all hours of the day and night. Shower and bathroom were spacious and basic. Mini frodge refilled with soft drinks. Only downside is the room key controls the electrics and ONLY the room key works in the alot (we tried) so minibar isnt always cold for the drinks. You get one room key per room so will hear loads of knocking for people to be let in day and night. Turkish bath is good. They advertise one price to lure you in and then ‘make good deal just for you’ so usually pay around £40pp for full hammam experience including the massage. This was good and a nice experience. Island. Very big. Accessed by all Eftalia hotels so can get very busy. This is where you find the aqua park, shops, ampitheatre for shows. The beach bar and access the beach. There is loads of arcades, soft play, zipline basically anything they can fleece you for for the kids. These are all extra. The Beach Bar is where the nightly disco is from 2230 to 0200. This bar is NOT included in the inclusive all paid for drinks. This is also where the foam party is on tuesdays and fridays from 3. Wear shoes the floor gets hot. But dont worry next to it is the other bar which has free beer wine and soft drinks only all other drinks paid for. The shows are pretty good and entertaining and does have vareity. It is huge and the stone seats are warm. Can get busy arrive early! If you dont want the shows there is cocktail bar entertainment nightly from 2100 again varies but staff do tell you at the pool daily whats going on. Aqua park is good all rides here are usually over 130cm and even room notices state adult slides but there is pools and kids pools ok the island too. Market on every Sunday behind the hotell. Probably best prices and can haggle. I would avpid paying the hotel rep for excurrsions. We use Viator or Get my Guide and never have any problems. Found the Rep wanted to charge €160 for land of legends evening show but Viator charged £27 for two people with hotel pick up and drop off. So do your research first where these sorta of things are concerned. Overall it wasnt a bad weeks holiday. Definatley wasnt a 5*. There are some improvements that can be made but those would be personal opinion changes such as hotel be Ultra All Imclusive and Island paid for but thats personal preference.
