Side Crown Serenity

My first impression of this hotel was not a good one. We booked through Thomas cook and had all our information on the Thomas cook app. However when we arrived we were told by some very unhelpful reception staff that we needed a hotel voucher. I showed them my booking, with the booking reference from Thomas cook, but they still kept insisting they needed a booking voucher. It was upsetting and stressful and I didn’t find the attitude of the reception staff very helpful, they didn’t seem to care. Just kept walking off and dealing with other people. We weren’t aware helped in the end by a very lovely lady who is the guest relations person. She was amazing. The other annyoying thing was the spa guys, who constantly badgered us to have a massage. They were very pushy until we got annoyed with them. You had to get your towels from them so it was impossible to avoid them. The rooms very clean and made up daily but the bed was not very comfortable. Good things; the pools are lovely. We didn’t have any trouble getting a sunbed but people were reserving them with towels, but probably standard every hotel. The food was good, especially if you like fish. It was varied and the pudding, omg to die for. Drinks were ok. Cocktails a bit hit and miss, but generally good. Most of the staff were lovely. There is a wonderful jewellery shop in the hotel, with a lovely guy there. He wasn’t pushy and had some gorgeous item. Visit it, you will find something wonderful in there. Overall for the price this hotel is very good value

First of all the food is excellent. There isn’t lots of choice but always a few things that are done really well - different pasta options at lunch and dinner, traditional turkish dishes and the meat is done really well. Pool area is great and was never overcrowded, is always kept clean. The staff are friendly and accommodating (there may be a slight language barrier with reception staff but we got by with google translate) The reception bar serves drinks till all hours which suited us very well although slightly dangerous 😀. The room is provided with a free safe and fridge stocked every morning with soft drinks for free. Shower is nice and the double beds are huge! Lots of storage/wardrobe space too. There is a few good sports bars/restaurants nearby which are great (Titanic bar and Oyster steakhouse) as well as a supermarket over the road and the beach is a 15 minute walk although there is a free shuttle that drops you at the private beach for the hotel running every 15 minutes. Overall we had a great time and would definitely recommend!

The room was okay, bed was hard and the shower was so powerful that it wasnt comfortable. The entertainment team was all of 2/3 people, which we joined in aqua sports which we got told off for talking in. The drinks were vile unless you had them from the reception bar opposite the shop. I had a Pina colada that had gone off which made me feel very sick after having 2 sips of it. The food was nice but same every night. 2 slides out of action. Hopefully you have no thunder on your holiday as we had about 2 mins worth and the whole of the power had gone off for some time. On the plus side the pool is nice.

At first glance, the hotel looks beautiful and has clear potential, but unfortunately it is in need of renovation and feels more like a 3-star property than a 4-star. On arrival to our room, we had to call maintenance as the toilet was not flushing. We also noticed plaster coming away from the walls in several areas, which immediately gave the impression of poor upkeep and a tired room overall. The towels in the room were also an issue, shedding a lot of fluff which stuck to the skin after use and was very difficult to remove. Some of the facilities were not working properly, including parts of the room and sides, which were only partially functioning, adding to the overall feeling that the hotel is quite run down. On a positive note, the food was acceptable and the staff were generally friendly and helpful. However, the drinks were very disappointing. The “ultra all inclusive” package did not feel any different from a standard all-inclusive, and the drink options in particular were very limited and low quality. Overall, while the hotel has potential due to its appearance and staff, it urgently needs refurbishment and improvements in maintenance, facilities, and drink offerings to match its advertised standard.
