Firstly, i'd like to note, I never write reviews unless positive, I usually give the benefit of the doubt to negative services. I'd also like to note, we are a young couple in our 20s' who usually don't care about these types of things, but due to the money we have paid for this holiday, I feel it needs to be said. It would be interesting to hear if others had the same opinions (especially regarding the Aqua challenge event). We booked Marti Resort in Turkey through TUI for what was meant to be a peaceful and romantic holiday to celebrate both our anniversary, our first holiday abroad together in our 5 year relationship, and then surprise engagement. Sadly, it turned out to be disheartening and upsetting. Room & Cleanliness We booked the Deluxe Sea View Double Room. Our room had serious maintenance issues. The air conditioning unit was full of black mold, which we only discovered on the last night. Earlier in the week, both my partner and I developed sore throats, blocked noses, watery eyes as if it were hayfever and I had worsening asthma symptoms and had to use my inhaler a few times. Once we stopped using the AC, our symptoms improved, clearly not a coincidence. Please see photos of the vents. To make matters worse, the kettle had old water and leaves inside when we arrived, completely unhygienic. Although staff replaced it when we reported it, there was no apology or concern shown. The shower also leaked badly, flooding the bathroom every time we used it. Despite reporting it, nothing was ever fixed, and we ended up using towels to soak up the water each day. Noise & Overcrowding We specifically booked this hotel for a quiet, relaxing break, but were never told that the Aqua Challenge event would be taking place during our stay. The resort became overcrowded, noisy, and chaotic, with entitled athlete types walking around and acting like they owned the place. We had a few occasions where they would barge in front of us at the buffet and take the last of some of the food items when they could see we wanted some too. Loud announcements and music started as early as 6:30 a.m on the Saturday, and the atmosphere was anything but relaxing. Aqua Challenge participants were treated like VIPs, while regular guests (like us, who booked months in advance) were largely ignored. We found this funny - as the management were putting on a show and acting as if they had the best hotel ever, yet the guests in their rooms are inhaling black mold spores from the air con units. Don't get me wrong, we love to party and have a laugh and at first we were excited to see this event take place, but this wasn't what we had booked for, and by the previous reviews we were excited to stay here. We would expect for an event like that, that pre booked guests be made aware by TUI or the hotel just in case they hadn't seen it advertised at the time of booking. (Which we didn't), and maybe offered an alternative hotel or something. The hotel seemed amazing at first and don't get me wrong, it is a beautiful hotel and has beautiful views, but it seemed to get worse the more we took notice of things. Service & Staff Attitude We informed both TUI and the hotel that we were celebrating our anniversary, yet there was no acknowledgment or gesture, I know that sounds entitled - but there was an option with TUI to select "Anniversary" and we also chose "High Floor" which we did get, and the hotel made a large deal about this when we arrived, but seemed to not mention the fact we were here for an anniversary. Honestly, we would have expected just a small gesture even, like some towels folded into a swan and some petals or something (which we would have tipped for), we have seen this everywhere else so we were excited. We even got engaged during our stay actually in our hotel room and were considering maybe getting married at the hotel in future. (Before we noticed the negatives). The entertainment schedule kept changing without notice, we would turn up for what had been put on the board and it didn't happen or had changed but we weren't made aware, bars opened and closed randomly, and one bar (Physkos) was open for the first 2 days of our stay but then had shut for the rest of the week, but conveniently reopened for the Aqua Challenge crowd. It honestly felt like paying guests outside that event just didn’t matter. There were a few staff members however who were very polite, one of note was Dogan, the lovely man on the roller skates and another man whose name we can't remember who worked in the serving area. But this review is not aimed to flame the staff as such as they are hardworking and do their best - but more so the management and the way they deal with their guests. We also felt that when the Aqua challenge guests arrived, the staff had been more attentive to them by way of making sure they had drinks at breakfast and lunch - whereas we didn't get taken any notice of. Overall Impression For a trip that was supposed to mark two major life events, this stay was dissapointing. Between the poor maintenance, lack of communication, and inconsiderate management, we felt completely disregarded as guests. We’ve already decided to cancel our 2026 holiday with TUI because of this experience, and I’ll certainly be reconsidering using TUI for our wedding plans. I genuinely hope TUI and Marti Resort take these complaints seriously, because no couple should have their special trip ruined in this way.
Rude staff, no room service, allowing people in the pool fully clothed, charge 100 euro for cabana with NO service. Especially the rude staff should be adressed
We stayed at the marti Deluxe in October 2025 for a week as part of a package holiday booked through TUI. The hotel itself is in a lovely location and the grounds and beach area are very nice. The staff we interacted with were generally friendly and helpful, and the setting in Icmeler is beautiful. For those reasons I wouldn’t say the holiday was terrible, but there were several issues that meant it didn’t match what we believed we had booked. Our main concern was that the hotel was advertised by our tour operator as having been “fully refurbished in 2023” with a “top-to-toe refurbishment” and described as “shiny new.” This was a key reason we chose it. However, when we arrived the rooms we were shown were clearly quite tired and did not appear recently renovated. We had issues with cleanliness and general wear and tear and ended up moving rooms multiple times during the stay. The hotel did try to assist by moving us to different rooms, which we appreciated, but unfortunately the condition was similar throughout. We also asked whether it was possible to move hotels through our tour operator, but this was not permitted. Another issue was that the all-inclusive offering wasn’t fully available at times, as staff explained it was the end of the season and certain food and drink options had run out. That wasn’t something that had been mentioned when booking. To be clear, our main frustration was with the way the hotel was marketed by our tour operator, rather than the hotel staff themselves who were generally polite and tried to help where they could. The location and setting of the hotel are genuinely lovely, but if you are booking based on the expectation of a recent full refurbishment, it may be worth checking the current room standards carefully before booking. If the hotel management could clarify what areas of the hotel were included in the “2023 refurbishment”, that would be helpful for future guests.
This hotel is advertised as a 5-star resort. It is absolutely not. Our stay was extremely disappointing and uncomfortable. Air conditioning barely worked. The room was unbearably hot. We were given a filthy, dust-covered fan which I had to clean myself. Hygiene was poor. The bathroom was dirty, and bedding was not changed at all — a mark on the sheet stayed there all week. Food safety is a serious concern. Food was repeatedly served cold, including meat, even when attending breakfast at opening time. Staff attitude was mostly rude and dismissive, except for one restaurant manager who was polite. Serious warning to guests: A man called Erkan operates inside this hotel, wearing On the Beach branding and presenting himself as a travel advisor. On the Beach have since confirmed in writing that they do not have any overseas representatives, meaning this person is posing to obtain money from guests. He had access to our booking details and sold excursions that were misrepresented and heavily overpriced. Other guests confirmed the same experience. The fact that this is allowed to happen inside the hotel strongly suggests a lack of guest protection and serious management failings. This is nowhere near 5-star standard. I would strongly advise avoiding this hotel.
A lovely stay with some real plus points. The location is stunning as hoped. Ìçemer is a beautiful bay and much more serene than neighbouring Marmaris. Lovely greeting at the door of the hotel by the conceirge who also guided us to our room, reception staff slightly cooler though this is often the case. Beautiful lobby. The room was nice and comfortable, we were dissappointed by the outlook though we accepted we had booked a side sea view and that was our lot. By far the 2 stand out pluses of this hotel were firstly the cocktail bar where lovely Memet the talented cocktail artist and Sevim both really made our stay memorable with their friendliness. The cocktails are all made using branded spirits and the hotel cocktail menu is a creative one. The roller skating barman is also impressive! Secondly the hotel spa headed by Danny. Both myself and my partner had their bronze package and mine was tailored to my requirements. These represented incredible value for money as part of which we both had a full body massage with 3 other treatments for only £70 each. The only significant dissappointment was possibly the restaurant. I always manage quite well as I love seafood and a mediterranean diet however I felt my partner didn't fair so well as he has a larger appetite and the meat options available were not great. One of my biggest gripes was the service of drinks. Waiters stand by stations with water and wine but they seem to excel in inefficiency. There is a small bar but again inefficient. It is strange because it is so at odds with the generosity of the service on the cocktail bar. We did book the Al a carte one evening which is included once and recieved very attentive personal service. The resort is very clean and well kept. New to Turkey as we usually go to the canaries at this time of year (October) we did find the resort lacking in atmosphere as there was very much an end of the season vibe which felt a little disappointing. The entertainment was good from what we briefly saw, we mainly kept to the lobby and cocktail bar where some talented musicians played the guitar and piano and one evening an opera singer.
