Riu Gran Canaria

We have travelled all over the canaries for the last 15 years and can honestly say this was the BEST holiday we have ever had. Beautiful hotel, magnificent gardens, unbelievable entertainment - West end standard!! Clean, stylish, brilliant staff, we are going again in 6 months and can't wait!!

We visited our favourite hotel for the fifth time ,and it's just as good as always great staff ,lovely rooms and everywhere so clean and tidy .we spent our days round the infinity pool and always got two beds normally around 745 am so not silly early on my walk before breakfast we loved the neon party as a couple in our 60s we even boogie on the dance floor will be back

Lovely hotel comfy bed nice and clean very nice staff with the exception of one man in the amore mio cold buffet on arrival was trying to get our bearings and he was very rude told us to move has we sat at the incorrect table there was no sign to say where to sit so sat at a table after a late flight was hungry luckily the rest of the staff very polite with nice choices of special restaurants. Pools are very nice sun beds are not comfy with no cushions. Did not like the riu party at all would much prefer some nice entertainment with a good band and somewhere to sit. We have visited this Hotel twice better this time but not the Rui party every Friday night. Outside is a lovely promenade to walk along with beautiful sea views.

Please read my previous reviews, as they go into more detail - this is just an update. It's my winter go to hotel, and this visit proved to be as excellent as all the others have been, and that's a continuing theme thankfully. I emailed the hotel to ask to be allocated the room we always request and it was allocated to us. As a Riu Class member, I'd also requested that specific room on the app too. The room was just as comfortable and clean as in other years, the same quality and high standard. Everything else was to exactly the same high standard - food, drinks, entertainment, customer service, sunbed availability and general maintenance - there's nothing to fault at this hotel. I will make one point though, as I did in my feedback for the past two years - for those people who don't enjoy the Riu Party Nights, please open Sunset Bar as a quiet place to hide away from the crowds. I used to enjoy going there after an evening walk, it's a shame that it isn't open in the evenings since the refurbishments. Maybe just consider opening it on Riu Party Nights, please? I've booked to return again in February 2027! To the management and team, thank you for another fantastic stay at Riu Gran Canaria.

Riu Gran Canaria We spent a week at this hotel. Huge hotel with very fancy initial front view. Check in was friendly and quick. Our rooms were not in the main building and we were concerned that they would be inferior but in fact were very comfortable and quiet at night which we appreciated. Staff were quick to accommodate us with rooms beside each other. We had a wonderful week of relaxation and sun. Food was excellent, so much variety and freshness. We ate at all of the speciality restaurants. Steak house was the best but the Italian buffet and Asian buffet were excellent too. We ate at the Kulinarium and whilst the service was very good, the food was a little strange.. odd combinations etc. The restaurant itself was plush. The entire grounds of the hotel were spotless, beautiful gardens, flowers, birds, pools were great and you could always find sun beds which a huge plus. There was lots to do during the day if you wanted, games in the pool, football, boules, basketball, ping pong etc and great evening entertainment and lots of quiet areas if you don’t want to partake. The hotel is right on the promenade with easy stroll to Maspalomas. The spa area was gorgeous and I had the best massage of my life! Wonderful!! A few small issues. In the bedrooms there were no slippers, dressing gowns, shower caps or any such usual bathroom things, no cotton buds etc which we thought was strange. Also towels were a little thin and tired. The beverages. Cocktails were lovely, beer was ok (need more variety not just Amstel) but the major let down was the wine. White and rose were passable but the red was just not good at all. Sunbeds were uncomfortable. No cushioning at all. We will Definitely return to this hotel as we had such a lovely relaxing week.
