Just returned from an all inclusive nine night stay at the refurbished Gran Costa Adeje hotel, first visit since the refurbishment having stayed at the hotel on several occasions previously. Due to delay in flight arrival time once at the hotel in the early hours of the morning check in was quick and efficient. Bedrooms have been refurbished to a very high standard, as have the bathrooms. Walk in shower excellent. Cleanliness of the rooms excellent. However, the hotel seems to be following their 'usual' policy of inconsistency. Out of the nine nights we had a turn-down service twice. Despite notices in the lifts and around the pool stating it is forbidden to reserve sun loungers, there is no follow-up to this as in previous years when staff would walk around the pool before a certain time in the morning and remove any items that had been left on sun loungers, including personal items. This is one hotel where there are so many sun loungers that whatever time of day you go to the pool there is always plenty of available sunloungers. Pre-dinner drinks in the bar also followed the 'usual' policy of inconsistency. Sometimes nibbles in a small bowl would be supplied with the drinks other evenings just drinks alone. The major problem is although the hotel has been refurbished it doesn't appear to have extended to the lifts. Several lifts were out of order whilst we were there plus the down button on the lift nearest to our rooms suddenly stopped working. The adult only pool on the 6th floor is excellent and the had the warmest water of all the hotel pools. This could be due to the fact that it is a much shallower pool than the other pools. The sun umbrellas are in fixed positions and there is very little shade and on very hot days the umbrellas didn't really give enough shade. Also one evening when we were leaving the adult only pool, the attendant locked the gates behind us and when we went to the lift found it was out of order. As we couldn't get access to the pool to walk across to the lifts on the other side of the pool, this meant I had to walk down a flight of stairs to the 5th floor, walk across the length of the hotel to reach the opoosite set of lifts. This wouldn't be a problem for most people but I do have a problem with stairs, so was inconvenient for me. As other reviewers have said the hot food wasn't particularly hot and the pre-cooked food was quite often being re-presented on subsequent days. We found all the staff to be helpful and friendly. Despite criticisms above I'm sure this is a hotel we will be returning to.

We have just come back from 11 nights at GF Gran Costa Adeje. From the second we pulled up at the hotel we were taken aback by the grand entrance and this continued as we made our way through the hotel and to our room. The smell in the entrance every time we entered the hotel was really fresh and clean. We were really pleased with our room. The bathroom was huge with a double sink, a large shower and a spacious toilet with sliding partition door. The decor was modern and stylish and the beds were really comfy. We were left bottles of water on arrival and teq and coffee. The room had a fridge which was useful in storing cold drinks, water and a few cheeky beverages to relax with on an evening as we got ready or sat on the balcony after our little boy went to sleep. Our room was cleaned daily to a high standard and we could choose how frequently we wanted to have sheets and towels changed as the hotel operates an environmentally friendly service and will only change them when you indicate as instructed (really simple process)! The housekeeping lady was so friendly and always made a fuss of our little boy whenever she saw us. All other staff we encountered we also friendly and helpful! They couldn’t do enough for you to make your stay as good as it could be. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the selection was one of the best we have seen. Fresh fruit, juices, lots of different breads, pastries, pancakes, waffles, cakes, various hot selections, salads, cereals, seeds and dried fruits and two fabulous egg stations serving freshly made omelettes, poached eggs and fried eggs. Everything was labelled for allergens and there were different options of sealed products and yoghurts to cater for different dietary requirements. We could not fault the breakfast at all. We did read lots of negative reviews around all inclusive options for other meals which sadly we cannot comment on however we did note that on the pool restaurant lunch menu, the majority of different foods and drinks required additional charges for all inclusive guests. The poolside restaurant offered different foods, we often had the grilled chicken Ceasar salad which was lovely but service was often slow with only one person taking orders. On one occasion we were sat there for 15 minutes or so without an order being taken for even a drink. There were 6 different pools to offer. The back of the hotel had two pools (child splash park and then a second which was used for slides for old kids and adults. The main pool area housed two larger pools and a toddler splash pool. The larger pools were not very deep either but you could still easily swim in them. All pools were really clean and well maintained. There were lots of activities going on throughout the day for people to join in with should they wish. The final pool was on the rooftop which sadly we never got to experience as it was adults only but would make a nice change for those without children. There was so many sun loungers around the pool areas but sadly as with all hotels the sunbed hoggers were out in force reserving prime poolside seats before heading to breakfast or sitting fully clothed whilst the sun hadn’t even started to come out. Despite this, we never had a problem getting somewhere to sit. The hotel offered entertainment every evening including a kids disco. However we only observed these as we were passing. It seemed to be a hit as every evening lots of people would be sat watching the entertainment. Unfortauntely our little boy is not a fan of loud music so we never stuck around. The entertainment cannot be heard anywhere else in the hotel though which is good for those with little ones who will be sleeping. Whilst there were so many positives about our stay there were a few things that let the hotel down and in our opinion wouldn’t warrant the hotel having 5 stars. Whilst these things didn’t affect our stay we think it is only right to give a true and fair reflection. Tea and coffee was never replenished. We had to ask three times within one day for this to be delivered to our room. Even on asking at reception it wasn’t handed over, instead a request was made for it to be delivered by room service. Lifts were questionable. Where the main two lifts were, one of them was out of order for the full time we were here which meant at peak times you could be waiting several times to get in a lifted travelling between the 8 floors of the hotel. We personally had two encounters where we were nearly trapped in the lifts as the doors failed to open on one occasion and then the lift stopped between levels on another!! On our final day we were due to be picked up before breakfast started. We asked at reception if there was an option of getting breakfast early. We were informed a cold breakfast would be delivered to our room and we were asked for a suitable time for this to be delivered. Unfortunately this was never delivered which was a shame as we had a long day or travelling ahead of us and given we had been told a breakfast would be prepared we didn’t buy anything to take with us. Despite some of the niggles, we really enjoyed our stay at GF Gran. We feel that the positives really outweighed the negatives for us and we would definitely return to this hotel in the future when we come back to Tenerife.

An honest opinion of this hotel. It’s a lovely large hotel with so much to offer. Cleaning going on all day rooms cleaned daily. Beautiful pool areas with easy access to all including disabled best ever. Room was big and had good storage, beds comfortable. Booked a Superior room however had a brick enclosed balcony so spent no time out there. Booked all inclusive found it definitely a 2 tier system with drinks, those that bought drinks on half board got their drinks delivered in nice glasses and poured from the bottle at the table! I paid a substantial amount extra to go all inclusive and did not get this. Staff in the main were amazing and polite no issues there. Sunbeds were amazingly comfortable 5 star. Food has the potential to be amazing but often cold. Also note the grill areas using the same spatulas to turn meat raw to cooked not good thank god I kept it on the grill and said no. Lunch at the Aguita was always good with fantastic service. Room service poor for all inclusive water in the fridge on first day, chocolates and turn down then nothing after. Entertainment varied but we enjoyed every night and had fun the Motown was amazing. The towels in the room need to be better for 5 star I will not add a pic of one I had asked for it to changed did not happen. I truly understand how this hotel has a good following who have stayed there it has lots to offer a few tweak’s would make it perfect.
