Riu Jambo

The resort is on a fantastic beach with a lovely layout. That being said, the staff particularly in reception will frustrate and agitate you on what is meant to be a relaxing break. I cite a few examples- We were met with a tedious check-in at 3am following a long flight where despite me doing an online check-in, it took 45 min to get sorted. The front desk clerk was completely incompetent and was unable to understand a bed request. A restaurant booking is a near impossibility with the 3 speciality restaurants working on a rotation system such that only one restaurant is open on any given night. The app is the only way to book and is linked to your room with a maximum of 2 people getting a reservation. I could not book for my family of 4 unless 2 profiles are created. A complete disaster of a system. Our safe was dysfunctional. The only person capable of opening the safe is the manager and so this can happen only during office hours. Any emergency warranting you needing documentation or other item from your safe needs to wait! The staff were made aware of a request for a late checkout at the time of my booking. I didn’t get any response. I now have been asked to pay an amount of $80 per person per hour for a late checkout. This is ludicrous! Save yourself the hassle. Book elsewhere!

I am at the riu jambo at the moment the service is very poor and disappointing. I requested pillows and towels and when I returned to my room it is still not here and too late to request again. I was supposed to returned with the rest of my family but I will have to look at another resort unfortunately. Also hotel is not accommodating for early check in even though rooms were available.

We were impressed with the quality of our stay and the amount of drinks and food included in our full-board package. The staff were very friendly and the resort was kept very clean. We also made good use of the activities and restaurant options. The RiuParty white party on the Friday was awesome, and the restaurants we booked at had great food. Only draw backs would be that you are not allowed to use the swimming pools after 19:00, and some of the food feels a bit like quantity over quality (e.g. pizzas with very little or no toppings, sushi that is mostly rice/cucumber). However, other dishes came with a great amount of variety and protein.

Recommended by our guide Babli . Stayed for 8 nights . The best hotel we stayed in 2025/26. Staff very friendly ,spacious rooms,beautiful beach view ,delicious buffet. The dissapointing part we didn’t have enough time on beach (rainy everyday ) Looking for a guide or recommendations before travelling to Zanzibar Babli and Atif are very friendly and helpful . We found them through many reviews in trip advisor and google ,very fast in replying through their whatsaap +255756983368. Will visit again in December

I had an amazing stay at this hotel. The service was on point and the staff was very helpful and always very friendly. The hotel was very clean and the food was amazing. Loved the cocktails. A huge thank you to Dickrack. He went over and above his call of duty.
