Riu Jambo

We were welcomed on arrival by friendly and happy staff, check in was extremely fast and we were offered an upgrade to the adults only hotel next door because it was our honeymoon… we declined because Riu Jambo had everything we wanted from our honeymoon, as we don’t like overly modern hotels as they seem to be filled with stuck up people 😂 We were upgraded regardless, to an absolutely incredible room with a view of the swim up bar, beach and jetty. The sunsets were incredible from our balcony, when we didn’t spend the time watching them on the beach. Pool areas - really clean, fresh towels whenever you want them (handy during rainy season), all the staff were welcoming but some more so than others… Sharif on the swim up bar was brilliant! Food - we only ate in the buffet restaurant, the A La Carte’s didn’t suit us. Typical buffet all inclusive food but all really tasty and a lot of variety, there wasn’t a night that we struggled with finding something. Breakfast and lunches were the best, in our opinion! Beach/snack bar - similar food to what was on at lunch if you didn’t want to go and sit in the restaurant. We used the gym a couple of times, not bad for a hotel gym… it is only small though so you have to time it right! We also had a couples massage, booked through the Riu app… well priced and felt great afterwards. The beach was incredible, security from the hotel do patrol the beach to make sure the locals don’t pester people to buy things too much… they don’t seem to pester as bad as people made out though, just say no and carry on doing what you were doing! They don’t come over to your beds, just when you walk to the sea or walk past a slight drop in the beach towards the sea they’ll come to you but don’t seem too pushy. The entertainment was ok, not amazing but weren’t too bothered by it. Overall it was an incredible hotel and honeymoon, I couldn’t recommend this hotel enough! Not sure why it isn’t 5 stars to be honest!

We felt at home from the very first day of our stay. The staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and always willing to help, making us feel truly welcome. The food was excellent – there was a great variety every day, and there was always something delicious to choose from. The bar service was outstanding; we never had to wait long, and after just one day the bartenders already knew our favorite drinks and would prepare them for us without even asking. The sea was crystal clear, and the beach was absolutely stunning. The Maasai vendors selling souvenirs directly on the beach could be a little distracting at times, but they were never overly pushy. The local people were friendly, enjoyed chatting with guests, and contributed to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The only negative point was our room location near the reception area. On a few occasions, noisy guests returning late at night disturbed our sleep. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and truly enjoyed our stay. We would definitely love to come back again in the future. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Really nice hotel and staff. Could do a few things/make changes and it could be a 5*. I would strongly suggest the Asian restaurant be turned into a teppanyaki restaurant with a live cooking demonstration and this would be amazing and similar to other hotels we’ve visited. The hotel is clean, well maintained and the beach is just stunning. The buffet has lots of choice (no brown bread or fresh milk only UHT or oat etc) but very good. The restaurants in the huts out on the sea are lovely, the view is amazing. Note the sun sets about 6.30pm so lots gather on the beach to watch the sunset before heading off for dinner. You need to get the App to book restaurants other than buffet (3 need reservations) Lots of beach sellers if you need to buy anything, no ATM at the hotel but the guy on the beach can take care payments in exchange for cash. Sounds dodgy but they are genuine people and not scammers so it worked well with no issues. The hotel does not provide this service so it’s your only option if you need money. There is entertainment every night but Fridays are the best with a massive party, stage and podium dancers, balloons, bubble machine, DJ, cocktails dancers on stilts and led outfits. Other nights is bingo, earth show, Massai warriors and quiz, but always something. Daytime had activities by the main pool/beach bar… like aqua aerobics, water volleyball, magic carpet in the pool, you can also pay for a dive or just use the free options like a pedalo, kyacks or scuba dive the the pool. ,
