Riu Jambo

Great staff throughout the resort, especially in the bar on the jetty. Managed to book the restaurants quite easily and no problem with sun beds, everyone was really accommodating. The only slight negative is the lack of lifts, you either wait for ages or walk. We were on the 8th floor, at least it kept us fit!

Overall decent stay. However a few issues. We arrived at 2PM and our room was not ready. Our AC unit stopped working after our first day. We had water condensation running down the walls. Day 3 night we had weird noise that eventually went away, not sure what it was but seemed to come from the ceiling like something was crawling around. Music was very annoying. I heard Miley Cyrus same song was replayed on repeat about every 20 mins as well as other songs at the bar, particularly the Hakuna Matata bar. Drinks out on the Pier near dinner time the service was terrible, waiting 30+ mins for a drink. The day they did the surveys the service was great, but after that was not good. Every time we had an issue seemed we needed to walk to receptions and discuss directly with them, which was a trek from our room. On our last day we had asked every day if we could get a late checkout as our flight was not until 6PM. We repeatedly were asked to check in on the last day of our stay, and not surprised we were not able to get a late checkout after asking repeatedly.

It's an expansive, beautiful resort with a number of swimming pools, restaurants and beach activities. We enjoyed ourselves. Staff were quite responsive, esp at the main restaurant and the Bahari beach bar. Room was comfortable, and the sea view was amazing. But they need to add more elevators, they only have 3 and half the time at least one or two were out of order. We, and a number of other guests, would rather walk up and down those stairs because you might wait 20mins just to get from 7th floor to the ground floor; not impressive for such a resort. Other than that, it was really nice.

We spent here the last 6 days of our 2 weeks trip to Tanzania including Safari to north and central Serengeti . There were so many good things to do and the ambience was so relaxing that we opted to skip all our original plans in Zanzibar and enjoyed 100% our Staycation here . No need to go out honestly. The food, the beach , the pools , the activities for kids, the cocktails all amazing. The very best of our every day was watching the sunset from the beach area . It is the place you want to be for your last part of vacation . Enjoy. Hakuna Matata!

I stayed at Hotel Riu Jambo for around 10 nights towards the end of June. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning and the staff are just wonderful. Myself and my friend had a nightmare with the agency we booked with and Trisha in reception was completely and utterly faultless! I was in tears and she was so supportive of my predicament and totally understanding. Trisha is a true credit to the Riu Jambo team and just wonderful at her job. The food was lovely, particularly the asian-style buffet. The rooms were cleaned daily and left spotless. All the staff were super friendly and made our stay that much easier. The hotel location is just stunning - the sunset at the end of the terrace never gets boring. 100% recommend this hotel and would love to return.
