Sol Nessebar Resort

So this place is average. It's certainly not luxury or anywhere near a 4 star as categorized. Pros: room clean, food fresh, German bar excellent! Slides good especially the rapids. Cons: Busy, have to fight for a lounger which are all reserved!, queues everywhere, the food areas are open for two hour intervals and I'm writing this currently waiting at the donut stand for half an hour which closes in 20 minutes and we may not make it before it shuts!, room small, the lifeguards have a loving relationship with their whistles. Very loud at night, if you love a party resort then this would suit you. No minibar, no coffee in the room, frowned upon to fill your own bottle from the self serve. Basically this wasn't a holiday for us, but it might appeal to those that like night life. You have to pay for the safe at €5 a night. We are here for a few more nights and if we could leave we definitely would. Still no closer to the donuts 🙈 sigh.

We have just returned from our stay at Sol Nessebar Mare and, unfortunately, we were disappointed overall. I'll start with the positives. The restaurant staff were excellent throughout our stay. They worked incredibly hard, were polite and professional, and the food was genuinely very good with plenty of choice. This was by far the strongest part of the holiday. Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the positives. Safety around the pools and beach was concerning. On several occasions the lifeguards appeared far more interested in their mobile phones than supervising swimmers, and I even witnessed one lifeguard on the beach apparently falling asleep while on duty. Considering the number of families and children at the resort, this is simply not acceptable. The beach area also contained a large submerged rock close to the inflatable water attractions. I witnessed a child injure themselves after hitting it. Hazards like this should either be removed or clearly marked if the hotel is promoting that area for family use. Accessibility is another issue. The concrete access ramp to the beach is broken and damaged, making it difficult and potentially dangerous for guests using pushchairs, wheelchairs or anyone with mobility problems. Customer service was inconsistent. The reception staff and towel station staff often came across as rude and uninterested in helping guests. The towel station was also closing before the advertised time displayed outside. When I asked why, the response was simply, "Well, I'm going early." When I reported this to reception, the answer was essentially, "I can take the towels for you. If she goes early, she goes early." That attitude says a lot about how guest concerns are handled. Food hygiene at the ice cream kiosk was also worrying. I observed children touching the ice cream cones and serving area without any intervention from staff. For an all-inclusive resort serving hundreds of guests, basic food hygiene standards should be much higher. Another disappointment was the beach arrangement. Guests staying at Sol Nessebar Mare do not receive complimentary umbrellas on the hotel's beach, while these are reserved for Sol Nessebar Palace guests. Mare guests must pay extra to use umbrellas on a different beach area, which feels like an unnecessary distinction considering all guests are staying within the same resort complex. Overall, while the food and restaurant staff deserve genuine praise, the poor attention to safety, inconsistent customer service and lack of basic maintenance left us disappointed.

A wonderful experience for our entire family. Excellent location, polite, and helpful staff. We felt well taken care of throughout our entire stay. Our rooms were cleaned every day, and the staff was always friendly and accommodating. This is our fourth year visiting the complex, and we would gladly return.

Fresh and clean hotel with superb meals. Facility is renovated and looks fresh and clean. Pools are medium size, but not crowded. There was no pursuit at 6:00 am for sun beds reservations and there are at least 4 places to find some. Great aquapark (not so big and perfect for kids, even older ones). Animations, sport activities and many more. Only one disadvantage is beach. Very small, with green plants in water.
