Papagayo Beach Hotel

Had the best time and the best service, especially from Eleonora who treated us like royalty. Cannot recommend this enough!

My experience at Papagayo Beach Hotel just started extremely disappointing. We arrived on Friday for a stay Tuesday and were only informed at check-in that the Beach Club — the hotel’s main highlight and heavily advertised in photos and promotional materials (including the infinity pool) — would be closed for our entire stay. In other words, we had no access to the main resort facilities at any point. What makes this worse is that this was never communicated in advance, neither during booking nor before arrival. This is essential information that clearly impacts a guest’s decision. As an alternative, we were only given access to the hotel’s pool, which was visibly dirty and poorly maintained, far below the standard expected for a property like this. On top of that, no compensation was offered — no upgrade, no discount, no credit, nothing to acknowledge the inconvenience. The staff simply informed us and left it at that. It’s very frustrating to pay for a resort experience and not receive what was advertised. I would not recommend staying here — especially if the pool is an important factor in your decision (as it was for us).

Papagayo hotel is a trap. And pray there is not a wedding when you attend. Without notice we lost access to the hotel amenities (pool, restaurants, pool bar, towel stand). We essentially vacationed in a construction zone due to preparation for the wedding. Rehearsals for the wedding entertainment began at 8:30am. If you planned to wake up peacefully on vacation that was out of the question between blaring music for mic check and the constant construction buzzing and banging. The towel stand was closed and we were forced to use the same sandy beach towels for three days. By day three the front desk told us to use our room bathroom towels. The “private pool” that remained open during our stay was dirty and not serviced as the closest bar was off hotel property and on the other side of the construction zone. When they finally sent someone to take drink orders by the pool, we were told “cocktails are not possible. Only beer or wine”. It took her 45mins to return with warm beers and she forgot the bottle opener. This hotel does not care about your comfort. The staff do not care to offer service. In fact they are rude. If you are looking for a peaceful stay, clean rooms and service of any kind this is not the place! The owner should be ashamed to have such little regard for paying guests. Lesson learned!

The hotel was absolutely wonderful. Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome and were very well assisted by the friendly and helpful staff. The location of the hotel is excellent, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The rooms were clean, tidy, and well-equipped with everything we needed. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone!
