Papagayo Beach Resort

Together with my wife we had an excellent stay in one of the beautiful villas (number 104) at Papagayo Beach Resort. There was a large porch with a beautiful sea view, where we were joined by e.g. troupial birds, bare-eyed pigeons or the blue tailed emerald. The living room had long wooden folding doors that could only open to two sides, creating a beautiful view. The two bedrooms had air conditioning with mosquito nets around the beds. There was daily cleaning with new towels. We were not bothered by noise disturbance. Minor defects in the villa were resolved immediately. We had expected the restaurant at the beach resort to be open, but it is closed. However, there are various facilities, including a Papagayo restaurant at the hotel on the beach across from the park. The staff at the reception, including Hector, were very friendly and helpfull. All in all, good value for money.

The place was very welcoming and friendly. My lady and I had a great time, the bartenders were all great, but a special shoutout to Frank 🫵🏻 ✅, he makes the best drinks 🙌🏻. Best regards, Johan

Nice big Appartments, great location just near Jan Thiel Bay.

Our stay at Papagayo Resort turned into a nightmare. During our stay, we discovered that approximately US$11500 worth of cash and personal belongings had been stolen from our accommodation. The stolen items included cash, jewelry, clothing, perfume, and even ladies’ underwear. We have an official police report documenting the incident. What disappointed us even more than the theft itself was the way management handled the situation. Rather than showing genuine concern and conducting what appeared to be a thorough investigation, we felt our concerns were dismissed. After we reported the theft to the police, management became uncooperative and we received little meaningful assistance. We were even made to feel as though involving the police was the wrong decision. We understand that no hotel or resort can guarantee that theft will never occur. However, guests should be able to expect management to take such a serious incident seriously, cooperate fully, and do everything possible to assist. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. This incident completely ruined our vacation. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this resort. If you choose to stay here, I strongly recommend keeping all valuables secured elsewhere and never assuming that items left in your room are safe.

Avoid this hotel at all costs. Our experience was extremely disappointing. During our stay, several of our belongings went missing. We reported the incident immediately, but we felt that the theft was not taken seriously by the resort. Instead of supporting us after we contacted the police, the management became hostile and seemed resentful because we involved law enforcement. Rather than helping us, we felt ignored and unfairly treated throughout the process. Based on our experience, we did not feel that our belongings were safe at this resort, and we cannot recommend staying here. I hope the management will take guest safety and theft reports much more seriously in the future.
