Iberotel Makadi Beach

I have mixed feelings about the hotel. After we got home, I waited a few days to reassess my thoughts, but in the end, I came to the conclusion that we most likely wouldn’t choose this hotel again. All in all, we had a nice vacation, but that was mostly thanks to the surroundings, the beach, and some of the staff members. The hotel’s biggest draw is its location right on the beach and the sandy, gently sloping shore, which is an absolutely great choice for families with children. We also liked that the hotel wasn’t just one huge building, but rather many small, single-story buildings surrounded by an incredibly beautiful garden. The quality of food is actually nice, we loved the food (except the soups). The staff—especially those working in the main restaurant and the pool bar—are very friendly, particularly with the children. What struck us as odd upon arrival was that, although we’ve vacationed in Egypt many times, this was the first time there was no staff member there to greet us. We had to carry our luggage all the way to the front desk by ourselves, where it took nearly another half hour to get our rooms, even though we didn’t arrive for early check-in. Unfortunately, the staff clearly favors German guests. This is especially true of the reception staff and those working on the beach. I had a few questions before my arrival, so I emailed the front desk, but never received a reply. Since we also speak German, I wrote my questions in German (from a different email address) and received detailed information within 24 hours. During that week, I got up several times to watch the sunrise on the beach, and we could see the staff reserving the front-row lounge chairs for the German guests, who typically didn’t even arrive until after 11 a.m. I've read this in several reviews, and I have to agree that it's very strange that a 5-star hotel charges for so many things even with an all-inclusive package—the minibar in the room, smoothies on the beach, ice cream at the seaside restaurant, etc. What’s even more troubling is that when I went down to the front desk the day before my departure to pay for the extra charges before my early morning departure, the copy of the receipt we had signed wasn’t attached to the bill, even though I asked for it so I could verify the amount. Even though they had billed us for everything and we had paid it, at the very last moment of our early morning departure, they ran after us down the street to say that they had forgotten to add certain items to the bill and that we would have to pay again. Of course, with the taxi waiting for us, we didn’t get into an argument and paid another bill for the items we hadn’t noticed earlier. Compared to our previous experiences in Egypt, we were also surprised that the beach bar doesn't serve cocktails, only soft drinks, so if people relaxing on the beach want a cocktail, they have to go up to the pool bar.

A wonderful experience thanks to the people who truly make a difference We had the pleasure of staying at this resort in Egypt together with six of our friends, and our overall experience was a very pleasant one. Beyond the hotel itself and the services provided, what impressed us the most was the attention, dedication, and professionalism of the Guest Relations team, especially Madonna and Kathrin. Throughout our stay, we needed assistance with several different matters, and every single time we received their help, we were met with kindness, promptness, patience, and, most importantly, a genuine desire to make things easier and better for us. They helped us with making a reservation at the à la carte restaurant and also arranged a discreet and lovely surprise in our room for my husband's birthday. It was a beautiful gesture that made the occasion even more special, and we truly appreciated the thought and care that went into it. As I am lactose intolerant, I also needed lactose-free milk, and they were very attentive to this and made sure that I had what I needed throughout our stay. Another small but incredibly thoughtful gesture happened on a day when mango was being served at the hotel. We were away on an excursion with our friends and unfortunately could not enjoy it. Madonna and Kathrin remembered us and arranged for mango to be sent to our room. It may seem like a small gesture, but it meant a lot to us because it showed genuine attention to detail and demonstrated that they truly listened and cared about our wishes. They also noticed and reported to the management some minor issues we experienced with the internet connection at the beach, making sure that the matter was brought to the attention of the appropriate people. On another occasion, due to a personal situation that arose, they also helped us arrange a two-hour late check-out for one of our rooms, which was extremely helpful to us and greatly appreciated. Individually, some of these things may seem like small details. However, it is precisely these details that make the difference between an ordinary stay and one where you genuinely feel welcomed, cared for, and valued as a guest. Madonna and Kathrin are two people who truly deserve recognition and sincere appreciation. They were always kind, attentive, involved, and available whenever we needed them. Every request or concern we had was treated seriously and with genuine care. A hotel can have beautiful rooms, good restaurants, and excellent facilities, but it is the people who create the memories. And Madonna and Kathrin certainly contributed to the wonderful memories we will take home from this vacation. We would like to sincerely thank them for all their help, kindness, and attention towards us and our friends. We truly hope that the hotel management knows how valuable people like them are to the team and appreciates them accordingly. Thank you, Madonna and Kathrin! ❤️ You made our stay even more special!
