Very good hotel and friendly workers

Royal Makadi is a resort where, by the time of your departure, you will find that you could easily spend another few weeks there and still have plenty of activities to choose from. Although the size of the resort is truly impressive, what surprised me most was the way in which that scale is put to good use; it suits just as well someone who wants to be doing something from morning till night as it does someone who prefers to locate a quiet spot, go to the beach and just enjoy the sea. One of the greatest aspects for me was the food. The range of dishes available in the main restaurant, particularly at breakfast and dinner, was excellent. Because there was such a variety, it never became boring even after eating there many times, and there was always some new option to choose from. The variety of food provides you with so many choices that deciding what to eat turns into a problem. There's another major reason why I'd go back—the beach. It's beautiful all by itself, but what makes it remarkable is what lies beneath the surface. There's no need to book a boat trip or go to another location if you want to see marine life; about 20 meters from the shore you can put on a mask and spend hours exploring underwater. For anybody at all interested in snorkelling or the Red Sea as a whole, having this opportunity right in front of the resort really enhances the experience. The beach is large, easy to get to, and, just like the rest of the property, very well looked after. There is also the aspect of entertainment, which, in my opinion, receives far more attention than it usually does. All day long there is some kind of activity going on—the morning sessions include yoga and various other activities, there are different games and programs around the pools and at the beach, foam parties, color parties, and then each evening there are entirely different shows or events. The reason why this arrangement succeeds is because of the entertainment team, who are young and energetic and thus keep the atmosphere vibrant. If you want to take part in all the activities, you most certainly can; if you prefer to stay at a distance then all you need to do is order a drink at the nearest bar and have it. The staff as a whole were probably one of the best aspects of the hotel; I can truly recall having never had a negative experience with any of the employees. Whether it was at reception, with housekeeping, the restaurant staff, the beach staff or the entertainment team, all of them were polite, helpful and, given the size of the hotel, extremely well organized. If we needed any information it was always easy to obtain and I was also impressed by their lost-and-found arrangements; in a resort of this size, the ability to efficiently look after lost items and to know exactly where to send guests is a clear indication of the standard of management. The resort is in effect, a destination rather than just a hotel. With its extensive grounds, pools, aqua park, beach, opportunities for snorkelling, bars, restaurants, sports, activities, and entertainment, there is really no need to leave unless you specifically wish to explore Egypt. At the same time, there are plenty of more peaceful areas so that the size of the resort doesn't necessarily mean it's noisy. This ability to offer such a balance is most likely one of Royal Makadi's greatest advantages. For example, a family looking for activities throughout the day, a person who is interested in swimming and snorkelling, a couple desiring a quieter holiday, and someone who just cannot stay still for more than twenty minutes can all stay at the same resort and enjoy entirely different holidays. I'd recommend to other guests that they get in touch with the staff. If you need anything, just ask because they are considerably more helpful than one might expect. In particular, when it comes to housekeeping and the staff who look after you during the week, occasionally dropping a dollar or two makes a big difference. If you treat the people well, speak to them and show your appreciation, you'll see the results; your room will practically shine. The only things about which I would offer constructive criticism are a few. The idea of having extra à-la-carte restaurants is good since it offers you more options, but in my opinion, most of them didn't stand out enough when compared to the main restaurant. In fact, it was somewhat ironic that the main buffet, with its wide variety, proved more interesting to me than a number of the restaurants which were meant to provide more specialized dining experiences. I would really like to see those restaurants become more distinct, as there is certainly potential for them to do so. The staff at the restaurant are also a bit too efficient when clearing the tables. On a number of occasions items such as glasses, plates and other objects were taken away before we had actually finished using them. It is clearly an improvement on leaving the tables dirty for a long time, but the experience could be better if they gave guests an extra minute before deciding that something was finished or if they just asked. The flooring at the resort might also be looked at again since some of the surfaces become very slippery when wet, which is not a desirable feature in a resort situated near pools and the beach, and some of the outdoor areas do get surprisingly hot in the Egyptian sun. Using materials that are more slip-resistant and more heat-resistant would make a noticeable difference. What I found especially unnecessary was removing people from sections of the beach after about 18:30 since that area was being prepared for dinner services at the reserved seafood restaurant. Although I fully agree that it is reasonable to create a special atmosphere for a beachfront dinner, guests should still, in principle, be able to enjoy the beach in the evening without feeling as if they have abruptly reached closing time. There must be a way of arranging the dinner area while at the same time keeping more of the beach open. Yet those are the modifications I would introduce to an experience which was already very positive, rather than grounds for not remaining here. Royal Makadi achieves what many large resorts have difficulty doing; there is always some sort of activity going on, but there is also always a place that is peaceful. The food offers you more choices than you actually need, the Red Sea acts as your front garden, the entertainment staff ensure that each day is different, and the staff make a huge resort seem surprisingly well organized and welcoming. I would definitely return to this place, and if a person is seeking an all-inclusive resort in Makadi Bay where the resort plays a major role in the holiday rather than just being a place to stay, then it is very easy for me to award it five stars.

The holiday was lovely – a beautiful location, plenty of fun for the children at the water park, the food was fine and there was plenty of choice, and there was a good range of entertainment programmes. A lovely sandy beach; a few dozen metres from the shore there’s a coral reef suitable for snorkelling. It’s also great to have a clinic on site in case of any health issues. The rooms show their age, but we didn’t lack for anything. I can recommend it.

nice hotel, helpful stuff and fun program

An absolutely fantastic vacation 🦾! A beautiful location, pristine seawater, helpful staff, and a super entertaining animation team! We stayed in the “Family Suite with Garden View,” a spacious two-room suite that provided plenty of separate space for both the children and the adults. A special shout-out to Terka from the animation team—she was energetic, great fun, and always ready to help whenever we needed anything!
