Bali Star Resort

We had such high expectations, booked a premium suite with plunge pool towards the sea. It was a disaster with constant bad food smell from the restaurant below, worst smell in the room all the time. Cleaning hardly in the room, got unwashed beach towels twice. (Yes I tipped the cleaners but fruitless) Buffet was the worst in a place looking like a school diner, not charming at all. Food not very fresh or enjoyable. Very small pool area with a few sunbeds that were reserved in dawn. Small beach crowded and expensive. It’s a pity because the setting was picture beautiful.

At check-in, the administrator offered us a temporary room while ours was being prepared, which we appreciated. The next day, administrator told “we could stay there because it was “the same room” but it was a liiee.” However, we had paid for a Premium apartment and don’t see the real apartment to compare, while this one was much smaller and cheaper as we understand later . After three days, our Join UP! agent asked for photos and confirmed we had been placed in the wrong apartment. Administrator said - well don’t be able because no free apartments. Thanks to help our agent to help, the issue was resolved and we finally received the apartment we had paid for. Another major drawback is the beach. There are almost no free places because all of it by high density is occupied by €10/day sun loungers. The only free area is a very small rocky section, which is quite disappointing. One more big disappointing - covered spends like - payed water in evening and veeeery expansive bar nearby waterpool . From good - it’s food - really good and tasty, apartments also good if you’ll not trick

💫Our stay at Bali Star Hotel was everything we hoped for — relaxed, welcoming, and excellent value in one of the best locations in Bali, Crete. One of the biggest advantages of this hotel is its location right at the entrance to Bali’s famously narrow streets. Arriving by car in Bali can be stressful, so having easy access and convenient parking felt like a real rescue from the moment we arrived. What truly made the stay special were the hosts, Fotrni and Maria, whose kindness and warmth created such a friendly atmosphere throughout our visit. Their hospitality made the hotel feel personal and genuinely welcoming. The hotel itself is beautifully maintained. The pool area is lovely — peaceful, clean, and perfect for relaxing after the beach. Breakfast was also very good, with plenty of fresh options included each morning. The location is hard to beat. The hotel sits beside Varkotopos Beach, one of the nicest bays in Bali: a beautiful sandy cove with calm, shallow waters that are ideal for families and swimming. Having access to sunbeds and umbrellas made beach days especially easy and comfortable, and there are charming seaside tavernas just steps away. Our room in the original part of the hotel was bright, spotless, and very comfortable. The balcony, the huge bed, quality linens, and excellent housekeeping made it a pleasure to return to every day. Another highlight is how walkable everything is. Excellent restaurants are only a short stroll away, especially Galini Taverna and Mambo, both of which we highly recommend. Overall, Bali Star Hotel offers a fantastic combination of location, comfort, hospitality, and value. We would happily stay here again and would strongly recommend it to anyone visiting Bali, Crete. A very nice hotel ,în perfect position ,near the beach and many shops.The personal is very attentive,the rooms are clean,the food is very nice and always fresh,plenty of choices.We also loved the Mambo restaurant and their beach and comfortable sunbeds.We would come back to Bali Star anytime!

Hotel Review: I’m glad others had a good experience here, but unfortunately mine was not and I do not recommend this place. From the start, the photos on Booking did not reflect reality – meals are served in a different location than the one shown in the pictures. When we arrived, we were told how “lucky” we were to get a sea-view room. Unfortunately, the room was small and dirty, even though they claimed it had just been cleaned. The next day we had to speak with the receptionist, whose attitude was far from welcoming. I showed her the photo of what I had booked and explained that this is what I expected to receive. We were eventually given another room, but again the cleanliness was questionable (maybe they have different standards). On the positive side, the bar staff were very friendly and always smiling. Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel if you value cleanliness and honesty. The photos and reviews do not reflect the real experience.
