This is a 5-night stay for us in a Palace Club Lagoon Access King Room and is at the end of a 3.5 week Bali vacation which took in far-north, central and southern Bali. The Nusa Dua Beach Hotel has always been expansive and architecturally impressive with many pools, gardens as well as several dining options - note: not one dining venue appears to be air conditioned and therefore tropical conditions prevail everywhere except in one’s room. There are also several renovations occurring in several parts of the hotel which do not cause much bother, but as can be appreciated, a hotel ~ 40 years old will require some refurbishments. The sun lounges on the foreshore under the shady tress with the lovely on-shore breeze is a delightful place to relax during the day or the extensive pool areas if preferred. Tamarind restaurant near the foreshore had some decent dinner offerings and was good for seaside lunch dining with a wood fire pizza and cold drink. Other than this however, Asian palates are extremely well catered for, otherwise it’s via the poolside dining venues or room service if Asian and Western options are required. Palace Club: We paid quite a lot more than the various run of the mill rooms and whilst the staff there are lovely, some extra inclusions/benefits and the all-day beverage and nibbles options other than the very nice à la carte + small buffet breakfast offerings, once again the dining area currently is semi al fresco and pretty darn hot. I’m not sure if there is normally some indoor dining here as they are also undergoing reno’s. It would be a nice option to have though. The dress code is strictly enforced for blokes (not well documented); not for the ladies mind you for whom singlet type tops or skimpy shoulder straps getups are uncontested. My wide-shouldered/drop-shoulder type t-shirt was not enough like a t-shirt and too much like a tank-top apparently in staff opinion (although it wasn’t actually) and I was forced to go back and change, come back in another shirt and sweat it out yet again. I was made to feel like a naughty schoolboy and then doubly embarrassed when they started apologising upon my return. I really don’t think the extra money is well spent unless you enjoy an old colonialists type social environment. We prefer our privacy and anonymity but hey, it might be for you. Room: (Palace Club King Lagoon Access Room) Lovely room - beautiful. Parquetry floors. Fairly comfortable super-kingsize bed. A small settee plus a small easy chair, side table and footstool, but in-room dining is a bit of a juggling act due to lack of distinct table & chairs for same. Very good and expansive bathroom features. Separate bath, walk in shower with integrated bench seat, separate WC and good bathroom extraction. Exquisite Balinese wood carved features throughout and excellent, voluminous clothing and luggage storage. Rooms are reasonably quiet. Lagoon (accessed from own terrace) is a nice feature but not particularly practical or private as we all swim past each others’ terraces and the lagoon pool is quite narrow and not particularly deep. It’s very warm and hence not refreshing. This flows into a slightly larger (but not deeper) private pool with sun lounges and umbrellas, however, it requires a swim to access this area (cannot be walked to) so I figure you have to balance a pool towel on your head while you wade there - no other way. No F&B service in this area and no kids permitted. We never saw this private area utilised. Wi-Fi: quite unreliable with regular dropouts throughout the resort or within the room. Overall, a grand old resort hotel with some timeless architectural aspects - spectacular in fact and with friendly, polite staff.
Great staff and atmosphere, rooms are a little bit dated.
I cannot speak highly enough of this magnificent resort! I love this resort for its authentic Balinese culture, the atmosphere, the facilities and especially the staff! This was our SECOND stay at Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa and I can honestly say it is perfect. This second visit was just as magnificent as our first (in January). We will be back again! I would like to personally acknowledge and thank ARINI, who made our stay so pleasurable. Arini, I don't know how to thank you for making my birthday such a memorable experience. Your genuine welcome, hospitality, and warmth, all contributed to making our stay so enjoyable. I cannot thank you enough! You have a great team, who went above and beyond to provide such a beautiful accommodation. The room was stunning, always maintained to a high standard. The grounds were immaculate, with grounds staff working tirelessly to keep the resort clean and beautiful. Thank you to RIKO, the sous chef, who warmly welcomed his guests, offering us a wealth of information about the food offered at the resort. Keep up the great work, Riko. To all the staff at Nusa Dua Beach Hotel, thank you! I recognise all of your hard work and congratulate you on the achievement of creating a beautiful hotel experience. I’m already looking forward to my next holiday at Nusa Dua Beach hotel and spa! I highly recommend this resort for anyone wishing to enjoy rest, relaxation and a beautiful Balinese culture.
Was our first trip to Bali, the area was great. The resort was amazing and the staff were very friendly. Definitely recommend.
We have just spent a week at this resort and it was fantastic. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent and varied. We attended 3 special dinners with traditional entertainment and each event was enjoyable. Happy hour by the pool was fun and the staff always looked after us. All the restaurants are excellent with a good variety of cuisines. The spa was well run and we had a relaxing massage. Our room was seviced well and nothing was a problem for us during our stay. A big thanks to Agus ,the concierge, who helped us plan our time in Bali.👏👏
