Sthala, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Ubud Bali

We are a family of 3, travelling with 2 adults and one teenager aged 13, and we stayed at Sthala, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Ubud as part of our Bali holiday. Overall, our stay was a pleasant experience, with the biggest highlight being the incredible kindness and hospitality of the staff. The hotel provided a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by the natural beauty of Ubud, however there were a few areas where the hotel could improve, particularly the breakfast selection and room size, which will be covered throughout this review. Location: 4.5/5 Sthala, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Ubud is located in a peaceful area surrounded by the natural beauty of Ubud. The location was ideal for those wanting a relaxing escape away from the busier tourist areas, while still being close enough to explore everything Ubud has to offer. The hotel’s surroundings provided a calm and tropical atmosphere, with beautiful views and a feeling of being immersed in nature. It was a great base for visiting attractions such as the Ubud markets, temples, rice terraces, and other popular locations around Ubud. The only minor downside is that the hotel is slightly away from the main centre of Ubud, meaning transport is needed for most outings. However, this was not a major issue and the peaceful setting was a great trade-off. Overall, the location was excellent for a relaxing Ubud stay. Breakfast: 3.5/5 Breakfast at Sthala was enjoyable, but it was one area where the hotel could improve. Compared to other hotels we stayed at during our Bali trip, the breakfast selection was quite small and did not offer the same level of variety. However, while the selection was limited, what was available was very nice. The food that was offered was tasty, fresh, and well-prepared. The quality of the dishes was good, and the breakfast still provided a pleasant start to the day. As all members of my family are vegetarian, we were still able to find suitable options, although having a wider variety of vegetarian and international choices would have made the experience even better. The friendly staff also helped make breakfast a more enjoyable experience, providing attentive and welcoming service throughout. Overall, the breakfast was good quality and enjoyable, but the limited selection meant it was not quite at the level of some other hotels we experienced. Service: 5/5 The service at Sthala was easily the highlight of our stay. Every staff member we interacted with was extremely kind, welcoming, and genuinely committed to ensuring guests had a great experience. A special mention must go to Dvik, Vika, Ayu, Calvin, Adit, Madu, Nirmala, and Gangga, who were all incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Their warmth and willingness to assist made a lasting impression on our family. Whether it was greeting us around the hotel, helping with requests, or simply taking the time to have friendly conversations, the staff consistently went above and beyond. Their hospitality created a very welcoming atmosphere and made the hotel feel much more personal. Overall, the service was exceptional and was undoubtedly the strongest aspect of our stay at Sthala. Room: 3.5/5 Our room at Sthala was comfortable and clean, but it was slightly underwhelming compared to our expectations. The room was well-maintained, beautifully presented, and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The cleanliness was excellent, and the overall design matched the peaceful atmosphere of the hotel. However, the main disappointment was the size of the room. As a family of three travelling with a teenager, we were expecting a little more space, and the room felt quite small compared to what we had imagined. Compared to other rooms we experienced during our Bali trip, it felt more limited in terms of space and movement. Another minor issue was that the room was not very well soundproofed. While trying to sleep at night, we could hear footsteps and noise from outside the room, which was slightly disruptive and made it more difficult to fully relax. Improving the sound insulation would make the rooms much more comfortable, especially for guests who are light sleepers. While these issues did not ruin our stay, having larger room options for families and improved soundproofing would be areas where the hotel could improve. Overall, the room was clean, comfortable, and well-presented, but the smaller size and limited soundproofing were slight disappointments given our expectations. Conclusion: In summary, Sthala, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Ubud was a pleasant hotel with one standout feature — its incredible staff. The location provided a peaceful escape surrounded by the beauty of Ubud, while the breakfast, although limited in selection, offered good quality food. The room was clean and comfortable but felt slightly underwhelming due to its size and soundproofing, especially for a family of three expecting more space and a quieter sleeping environment. The biggest highlight of the hotel was undoubtedly the service, with Dvik, Vika, Ayu, Calvin, Adit, Madu, Nirmala, and Gangga all providing exceptional hospitality and making our stay memorable. Their genuine kindness and friendliness made a significant difference to our overall experience. Overall, Sthala is a great choice for travellers looking for a peaceful Ubud retreat with genuinely kind staff and a relaxing atmosphere. While there are a few areas that could be improved, the warmth and hospitality of the team made our stay a very enjoyable experience.

Happy to stay here even only one night. Got everything you need if you want a bit away from center of Ubud. Still peaceful with rice terraces and river around. Great pool, lovely spot to wait for sunset. Good activities from the hotel. I really enjoy the cycling activity thru the villlage nearby and the rice paddies. Great guide Pak Made! Hopefully can come back for more.

We had a wonderful stay at Starlet Attribute Portfolio Hotel. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the pool was great. A special thank you to Vika for her outstanding hospitality. She always checked on us, made sure everything was perfect, and was incredibly kind and attentive throughout our stay. Her service made our experience even more memorable. Highly recommended!

Lady Gayatri was very helpful, she made our holiday exceptional! She told us where to go, what to see, she was on our disposal from morning till evening along with other stuff members. We are grateful that our journey led us her to meet the Goddess of Bali, Miss Gayatri and all the wonderful people from this amazing Hotel! There is literally nothing that we can say other than - you are perfect!! Thank you!
