We are a family of four (2 adults and 2 children aged 6 and 8). I actually booked this hotel by mistake. I had originally intended to book the 4-star hotel across the road. As soon as I realised, I contacted Jet2 about upgrading, but the cost was over £1,000 extra. After reading reviews of the alternative hotel, which weren't much better than this one, I decided against it and chose to spend that money exploring the island instead. In that respect, it was money well spent, as our daily trips around the island were the highlight of the holiday. Whether you enjoy this hotel really depends on what you're looking for and what kind of holiday suits your family. If you don't mind noise, crowds, and people jumping into the pool wearing the same flip-flops or Crocs they've been walking around in all day, then you may well have a great time here. We checked in around midnight and were given a bag containing a bottle of water, sandwiches, and an apple, which was genuinely appreciated after a long journey. We're not particularly fussy travellers and didn't expect luxury from a 3-star hotel. Before arriving, I read several reviews and assumed people were exaggerating or being overly critical. Unfortunately, many of those reviews turned out to be accurate. The food has very little variety and is largely the same every day. If you're happy eating chips, pasta, chicken nuggets, and pizza throughout your stay, you'll probably be fine. Unfortunately, we also found that some of the meat was undercooked, something that had been mentioned in many previous reviews. My disappointment isn't just about the food, though—it's the overall experience. The hotel itself feels tired and outdated. The rooms are spacious and every room seems to have a pleasant view overlooking either the pool or the ocean, which is definitely a positive. However, there appears to be very little attention paid to standards in the pool and communal areas. The location is lovely and is probably the hotel's biggest advantage. The reviews we saw on TikTok, TripAdvisor, and other travel sites reflected our experience quite closely. The comments about limited food choices, dated rooms, and unhelpful staff matched what we encountered during our stay. We also experienced cleanliness issues, including seeing cockroaches, and there was often a strong smell of cannabis around parts of the resort. Another issue was the lifts. there were occasions when they weren't working at all. Again, this was something that had been mentioned in many previous reviews, and unfortunately it proved to be true during our stay. The children's entertainment was also disappointing. The kids' show was exactly the same every single evening, and it was a real struggle to find a table to sit and watch because there simply weren't enough seats available. Although the hotel is advertised as all-inclusive, this doesn't apply to the water park. If you spend the day there, you're not allowed to bring your own food or drinks, and you have to pay extra for everything you buy. Even parasols and sun lounger mats come at an additional cost, which felt disappointing considering we'd already paid for an all-inclusive holiday. Another thing worth mentioning is that the water in the water park is saltwater. It's not just slightly salty like the sea—it is noticeably saltier, something that had also been mentioned in many reviews we read before travelling. Unfortunately, that turned out to be true as well. That said, our children still had a fantastic time there. They wore swimming goggles and thoroughly enjoyed the slides and pools. The hotel pools were another downside. The main pool is quite small and has a depth ranging from 1.65m to 1.85m, while the baby's pool is also very small. There is no medium-depth pool between the two, making it difficult for parents who aren't confident swimmers or who are shorter to enjoy the pool with their young children. A shallower family-friendly section would have made a big difference. Looking back, I regret not cancelling after reading the reviews, as they turned out to be a fair reflection of what we found. By the end of the holiday, we were honestly counting down the days until it was time to go home. That said, I'm not trying to put anyone off booking here. I simply believe in leaving an honest review based on my own experience. If you're easy-going and have lower expectations, you may enjoy it more than we did. This is simply an honest account of our stay.
This hotel is riddled with vermin, live cockroaches inside your room and bed, in the dining hall and all around. The dead ones get covered in ants and the swarm of pigeons outside leave faeces everywhere. The food is cold, bland and reused at least 3 times. The drinks are just as awful, everything served in paper cups and they just taste like very sweet syrup. The hotel is loud, too big and in need of a wrecking ball through it. There is a Facebook page but it’s very dishonest and wouldn’t post my review. Please do not stay here. Me and my family all were ill and dehydrated as the water tased oily and was undrinkable. The staff do not care and I don’t blame them, courtesy shower at the end of our stay was in the reception toilets still being used by guests, no lockers or privacy and the shower rail was broken. Worst ‘holiday’ ever and £4.5k out of pocket
The rooms are pretty standard fine for what you need they are clean and hotel is fairly clean Plenty of room outside for sunbathing Pool isn’t the biggest so can be quite congested at times Absolutely no entertainment provided even tho they have a bar next door that’s part of there hotel Not really anything in the hotel for kids apart from 1 pool table in the evening unless your happy to spend money at the arcades which can be quite pricey. could do with couple more things for entertainment. There’s a football pitch but unless your happy to pay €20 plus another €20 as a deposit you can’t access it. Food is average sometimes cold and bland but does the job I guess
Just returned from a 2 week holiday here with my wife and 2 daughters aged 8 & 16. We booked with barrhead travel 2 weeks before flying and after reading the reviews We where very worried due to the amount of negative reviews. Unfortunately the reviews in our opinion where absolutely spot on. This place is a disgusting hole. We where sold this as a 3/4* and in our opinion its a 2* at best. We arrived late on friday the 26th june, got to our room to find it barely clean and no air conditioning. We then spent the first 10 days complaining about having no air conditioning and kept being told by the reception it was fixed or by the maintenance men that the main unit was faulty. Finally we contacted jet2 and got it repaired although it was still really bad. We constantly had issues with the door and key cards to our room. Our room was cleaned twice in 10 days, again repeatedly complained to reception to be told the housekeeping had been ticking our room as being cleaned but it wasnt getting done, no clean towels or bedding. The food here is disgusting. The restaurant is disgusting. We witnessed cockroaches running around the floor only a few feet away from the main island that houses the food, after that we never went back. We paid £4k for our holidays and we spent close to the same, mainly on travelling back and forth to puerto rico for dinner and entertainment. As for the entertainment, that was an absolute joke, you cant get a seat unless you are there an hour or so before it starts as it house for 2 hotels and the entertainment itself isnt really that entertaining. The drink is horrendous and again rife with cockroaches. The hotel pool is far to small for a hotel this size and to get a bed anywhere near the pool you need to be up and out before 7am. The pool is missing dozens of tiles and we spoke with familes who’s kids had cut their feet on the bottom of the pool due to this. There are a few bars down from the hotel called the sunset strip and the food is decent but the walk back to the hotel is rife with local drug dealers creeping about in the dark and makes it feel very unsafe. Oh and the bar attached to the hotel is rarely open and the all inclusive only runs until 10pm We did go jet skiing and to be fair it was great fun and a highlight of the holiday. I believe this hotel was decent back in the day but the owners have left it to run down to a disgusting hole. We will definitely be back to puerto rico as its a very nice place but we will never set foot back in taurito and especially this hotel. Good luck to anyone who does.
Stayed previously about 8 years ago and was great, stayed this time an i wont be going back. POOL - got closed twice in 2 days due to adults pooping in it. AIRC0N- non existent, was ment to be but apparently broke, room was far to hot to sleep and when the bar was open for 3 days it was absolutely boiling in there. FOOD AND DRINKS- food was cold, undercooked, alot of processed food. Same breakfast everyday, no omelette or pancakes like they used to do. Not much choice, was always pizza, pasta & chips available.Puddings all had the same perfume taste. (They were amazing last time I stayed) bread stale, veg/potatoes also undercooked. Meat that wasn't ment to be processed was. Could make your own drinks mostly, cola..etc was always very very flat, juice very strong although we just added extra water to it. Had all usual AI drinks, tried to buy cocktails only to be told out of a menu of 12 they could only offer 1. ROOMS - were mostly clean but towels were not always changed every 2 days and had bird poop not cleaned off our balcony in the last 6 days we stayed. BAR-was closed the whole time we stayed apart from first 3 days ENTERTAINMENT- Was okay for kids, the mini disco, same every night, other entertainment awful, same thing and some nights was all finished by 9pm in peak season. There used to be an extra place that opened in the middle for the 2 hotels for longer entertainment but its now closed. LIFTS -out of 4 lifts, only 1 worked mostly, someone got stuck in the lift for 30 mins, kept ringing alarm bell and were ignored until they held the bell continually for 15 mins, lifts were also dirty and absolutely boiling. DISABILITY ACCESS - None existent, there was a lady trying to get round in a scooter and only ramp they had wasn't straight and couldn't get the scooter round the corner, she also couldn't do anything once food closed as that was her only access to outside of the hotel without steps. Hotel now seems to gather to mostly the Germans and some staff rude, although some waiter staff were lovely. KETTLE- Have to pay deposit an then also pay 2.50 a day to rent it. KITCHEN - there is a kitchen with microwave an hobs but absolutely nothing in it, not a spoon, cup, plate ..etc. AQUALAND - filthy, I mean algae covering the sides inside the pool, could look through the water and see algae and dirt sitting on the bottom of the pool, least 1cm deep. 2 floats for all the rides that needed it, thats it. If you went under the water with goggles, you see all the dirt floating about, once we saw this we didnt go back. Plenty of free sunbeds, hire umbrella and lockers. BEACH- nice black sand beach, not to busy, lovely couple of bars an a shop on the front. Shower there doesn't work. Hotel has free WiFi including in rooms, can be good and bad but cant moan for free. LATE ARRIVAL- theyll give you a bag with sandwich in, biscuits and fruit. Shop closes 10PM. Are not able to hire a kettle until the morning. Check out is 11am Puerto Morgan is 15 min taxi, about 25 euro, Puerto rico is 10 min taxi, around 14 euros. Beautiful beach and some shops/places to eat. Aquland/palmitos park is around 30/35 return for family of 4 via the bus and takes hour/hour and 10 but only 3 buses run each way daily, on the way back, was so busy, all seats taken but also not room to stand as driver allowed so many people on it.
