Location is abit out of the way from main areas. Atmosphere is not bad with a mix of families and singles. Rooms are very old fashioned but serviceable. The value for money was perfect. Family of 4 in sept all inclusive £1452 package holiday. The hotel generally is very clean. The staff are extremely friendly. The food isn’t that bad. Every day somthing different. Always got kids catered fit with hot dogs chicken nuggets and burgers. The drinks are abit watered down in my opinion. The main issue is British families with kids. They let the kids loose in the dining hall piling up the food then waste the food. Screaming kids all round dining hall. Overall the place is good.

We stayed at Livio Lago Taurito in Playa Taurito, Gran Canaria, for five nights from the end of August into early September, travelling with two children. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and found the hotel to be a good base for a relaxing family break. However, there are a few things worth knowing before booking. 🛏️ The room The room was fairly basic but perfectly adequate, as we mainly used it as a base. It was clean, and towels were replaced when the room was serviced, approximately every two days. Our balcony received afternoon and evening sunshine, which was a nice bonus. 🏨 The hotel The hotel was generally clean and well maintained. The lifts were a little temperamental during our stay and occasionally stopped working, which could be frustrating, particularly when travelling with children. The main entertainment area is centrally located within the Taurito resort, close to the hotel rather than inside it. We did not find the entertainment particularly impressive, but the nearby fun park was good for children, with arcades and bowling available. These activities are chargeable extras. 🏊 Pool and sunbeds The pool was adequate but quite small, and became very busy at peak times. A lifeguard was on duty, although we felt that the pool rules were enforced inconsistently from day to day. As with many resorts, sunbeds were in high demand. By around 9:30am, many had already been reserved, so you need to arrive early if having a particular spot is important to you. 🍹 All-inclusive The all-inclusive offering was broadly what we expected for this type of hotel. There was a reasonable allowance of two drinks per person at a time, which we found manageable. The snack bar was regularly refreshed and stocked with items such as hot dogs, burgers and toasties. This was useful when the children wanted something to eat between meals. 🍽️ Food We were pleasantly surprised by the food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner in the main restaurant offered plenty of choice. The food was generally hot and well presented, and the restaurant was clean. One tip is to eat earlier rather than later if you want the widest selection, as some of the more popular dishes can run low during busy periods. 🌊 Water park One of the biggest positives for us was the daily access to the water park, which was an excellent additional benefit, particularly when travelling with children. It provided another activity during the day and added good value to the stay. The water park is located within the Taurito resort and is one of the area’s main attractions. 📍 Location The location is probably the most important thing to consider before booking. Playa Taurito is a small, purpose-built resort on Gran Canaria’s south-west coast, situated in a valley between Puerto de Mogán and Puerto Rico. It is relatively isolated, with the hotel, water park, beach and a limited selection of shops, bars and restaurants concentrated within the resort. There is no large promenade or extensive town centre to explore, so it may not suit anyone looking for lots of nightlife, shopping or a wide choice of restaurants within walking distance. However, the location works well if your idea of a holiday is relaxing around the hotel, using the pool and water park, and spending most of your time in the resort. Taurito Beach is a small, sheltered beach, and the surrounding valley provides a scenic setting, although the area is hilly in places. There are regular bus services to nearby destinations, including Puerto de Mogán and Puerto Rico, making it relatively easy to explore further afield. Taxis are also available, although costs can add up. The resort is approximately 50 kilometres from Gran Canaria Airport. Depending on whether you are travelling by private transfer, taxi or shared coach, and how many other hotels are included on the route, the airport transfer can take around 45 minutes to 1½ hours. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Overall For a five-night family break, we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is fairly basic in places, but the rooms are clean, the food is good, the water park access is a great bonus and there are enough facilities nearby to keep children occupied. The main drawbacks for us were the small and busy pool, the temperamental lifts and the resort’s remote location. If you are looking for a holiday where you can relax, stay around the hotel and keep the children entertained, this is a reasonable option. If you prefer a lively resort with extensive nightlife, shopping, restaurants and plenty of places to explore on foot, I would look elsewhere. Overall, a decent family stay with a few things to be aware of before booking.

We are currently on day 3 of our 10 night stay at the Hotel Livvo Lago Taurito. We were a bit concerned when we read some of the reviews but so far we haven’t been disappointed. The rooms are basic but are clean, the housekeepers do an excellent service. Our room has been cleaned every day with clean towels etc. it’s situated abouts 40 minute coach transfer from the airport. The food is good but I guess it could be a bit predictable after a while, but the beach is a 5 minute walk away with a couple of restaurants if you fancy a change and don’t mind paying for a meal out now and again. The sunsets on the beach are breathtaking. There is plenty of little shops to look around just outside the hotel, a small supermarket and kiosks to book excursions etc..the water park is free with the all inclusive also. It’s very family oriented, with aquarobics in the mornings and entertainment for the little ones in the evening and plenty to keep everyone entertained during the day. The pool bar is good with the option of getting a hot dog, hamburger or ham and cheese sandwich and you can help yourself to soft drinks and some of the beers, sangria and some cocktails are included in the all inclusive menu too. There’s also a coffee machine. If you want to venture out of the hotel area, there is a bus stop and bus number 9 takes you into Puerto Rico for 2:80 euros for 2 people and the buses are every 20 minutes from the top of the road. I would recommend some of the excursions as the hotel is quite isolated. But for us, so far so good. I would highly recommend coming.

Literally got back this morning. 25.09.26 Will not be going back again, hotel was dated and just worn down, I get it’s a 3star hotel but it’s more like a 1 star. First of all not a lot for the kids unless it’s the water park all day, but that’s not inclusive, the salt water will burn your eyes so take protection. Certain areas closed off and you have to pay for umbrella’s every day. Food was the same every day, kids just ate chips and nuggets! But I can’t fault the bars:restaurants on the beach front (very friendly) Lifts breaking down and being stuck on the 7th floor didn’t help! The night time entertainment is for little kids and very poor, nothing for adults past 21.30. Being offered drugs by random men at night in front of my kids is where I draw the line! Complained to the hotel and rep and they just said we know it happens! And I mean it happened all the time other guest just buying drugs and getting on it 24/7! We had neighbours blasting out music until silly o’clock in the morning, people fighting and banging on doors at stupid times! When speaking to the manager he was very rude stating it was just my opinion! 6 grand for 5 people I excepted more!

A 3 star hotel in the UK is apparently a somewhat different proposition to a 3 star hotel here. Who knew? To be fair, we knew we were booking a budget holiday. We’ve done budget holidays before and have always been perfectly happy to embrace the experience. We weren't expecting champagne on arrival, Egyptian cotton sheets or a gentleman called Jeeves to appear each morning with a freshly pressed newspaper and our slippers. We did, however, perhaps naively, expect the occasional moment of peace. How silly of us. This hotel seems to attract a rather specific type of holidaymaker. I’m absolutely not a snob, but if your preferred holiday environment is one in which you can hear yourself think, perhaps consider somewhere else. The pool area is particularly impressive. It operates rather like a small, unsupervised puddle of chaos, screaming, shouting, inflatable objects and people playing "music" from portable speakers. The hotel pool is permanently somewhat… cloudy. One is left wondering whether this is an intentional feature or simply an ongoing scientific experiment. Either way, it certainly adds an element of mystery to every swim. There are large family groups everywhere, apparently working on the principle that personal space is a bizarre concept. Music is frequently played by less than thoughtful guests at a volume on portable speakers that suggests the entire resort has been invited to the party. Earbuds, meanwhile, seem to be regarded as an unnecessary modern extravagance. The musical selection is varied, although “varied” may not necessarily be the word I'd choose. The water park is salt water, saltier than the sea, which is certainly one way to make things interesting. Unfortunately, it stung my eyes so spectacularly that I was temporarily unable to see (yes, I had kept my eyes closed) and had to be guided around until I could find somewhere to wash them out. Just what you want from a day at a water park. There is quite a bit of algae on the slides too, which adds to the ambience. Still, if you enjoy your swimming accompanied by a mild sense of uncertainty and the occasional eye-related injury, this could be just the place for you. The shouting. Around the pool. In the corridors. At night. Often to/at the person standing right next to them. At around 4am one glorious morning, I was treated to what I assume was singing. I use the term “singing” in the broadest possible sense. For a brief moment I considered getting up and joining in, largely because I thought that if you can't beat them, you may as well join them. In and around the pool, children appear to be supervised using the “They’ll probably be fine” method. A particularly popular activity is sitting directly on the pool steps, which is a thoughtful arrangement if your intention is to prevent anyone else from entering or leaving the pool. I witnessed a few people, adults and children alike coughing, spitting and blowing their noses footballer style, holding the nostril, etc, in to the pool. Why get out to do that when you can share with the pool? There is also a delightful element of surprise involved in swimming here. You never quite know when a child will leap over your head, collide with you at speed, kick you in the face or introduce an inflatable animal to your skull. I appreciate that children will be children. I also appreciate that parents are on holiday and deserve a break (as we all do). I’m less clear on why the rest of us have been quietly enrolled as unpaid lifeguards. Still, these things build character. The evening entertainment is actually very good, particularly considering the circumstances. It is mainly aimed at children, but who can resist the famous tune of the Mini Disco! It never fails to get you in the holiday/party spirit. The Animation Team deserve enormous credit. They are genuinely excellent. Friendly, enthusiastic and incredibly hardworking. The effort they put into the shows is obvious, and they clearly love what they do. The Lion King and variety show were both particularly enjoyable. They are, without question, one of the best things about the hotel. The food is perfectly adequate. There is plenty of it and there is plenty of choice. Eventually, however, you may begin to suspect that the same food is returning each day wearing a slightly different outfit. It's not bad. It’s just that after a while you start looking at your plate and thinking you've eaten the same meal for 5 days straight. Fortunately, there is an excellent escape route. Sunset Taurito on the beachfront is fantastic. The food, drinks and service were all excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. We genuinely enjoyed our meals there and would happily return. The verdict. Surprisingly, I would stay here again. For a budget holiday, particularly out of season, it does the job. The rooms are fine (although extremely basic), there is plenty of food, the entertainment team are brilliant and you get what you pay for. But I would strongly recommend coming out of season, as we have. Because I honestly cannot imagine what this place is like in the height of summer. If this is the quieter version, I suspect July and August involve a slightly different classification of event. Possibly a sporting event. Possibly a natural disaster. Possibly both. So, if you're looking for a cheap holiday, have realistic expectations, don't require silence (i.e. anything under 90 dB) and possess a reasonably robust tolerance for unsupervised children, shouting, and music you didn't select or indeed ask to listen to yourself, and you'll probably be absolutely fine. If you're looking for tranquillity, solitude and the gentle sound of your own thoughts... Perhaps keep up your search.
