Hotel LIVVO Lago Taurito

WILL NOT RETURN. Extremely disappointed with the hotel and resort. Cockroaches on every floor of the hotel. Food was boring and not much changed throughout the week. WiFi only worked in the lobby. Floor tiles around the pool extremely slippy and dangerous. Pool small for the 900+ rooms. Set your alarm for 7am if you want a sunbed as although ‘reserving is not allowed’ we didn’t manage to get a bed once on our holiday due to bed hoggers. Waterpark very run down & dirty. Water is excessively salty!!! Entertainment is shocking. No entertainment in actual hotel, just a 30-45min kids disco followed by 45min ‘adult’ entertainment in the shared fun plaza. Limited seating there also so good luck. Restaurant staff friendly but all other staff rude and not helpful. Do not get a taxi - bus stop up the road far cheaper! Rachel and Elaine the excursion reps on the corner outside are your go to people for any help / info you need! They have all the answers. Within 2 days at the hotel all 4 of us were bored and needed more to do, as we couldn’t use the pool as no spare beds, lack of entertainment despite advertised, salt from the waterpark had stung our eyes so bad we didn’t want to go back (plus the toddler selection was extremely poor, 2 small slides that might as well have no water they were that slow). Very poor experience, disappointed to say the least. Was rather noisy from the beach bar until 1am, we didn’t mind the noise but we were quite far back from it so could imagine it being a lot louder being closer to the beach.

I was really disappointed with this hotel and would not return. The food quality wasn't the best during our stay, unfortunately my brother's family became ill on the last day of the holiday. The entertainment was repetitive, with the same songs played most evenings in the bar. The seating area consisted of old, weathered picnic benches that were uncomfortable to sit on and not enough to accommodate the amount of guests. We stayed in room 742, our toilet door wouldn't close or open properly, so we had no privacy, it needed to be plained and re-hung, despite being reported to reception it didn't get fixed during our stay. We stayed for 5 nights and our room only got cleaned once. Cockroaches were visible in the outside dining areas and I did see some inside too. Some public toilets had no soap dispensers, and the men's toilet by the pool was overflowing with urine at times. The main pool is very deep, I could only stand up at one end of the pool being 5.4ft. The children’s pool was very small. The Waterpark was nice but very salty. There was football and tennis courts but you had to pay to use these. There was no play park and all the other amenities the children could use were payable. Safety was another big concern for me. The decking around the resort was damaged in places and was a tripping hazard, the lifts regularly broke down, and many of the doors leading to the pool areas were padlocked overnight. Our room key cards stopped working whenever they were placed near a mobile phone, meaning repeated trips to reception. The all-inclusive drinks also tasted heavily watered down and slushies were extra at a cost of 2 Euros. I have had many holidays over the years in 3 star hotels but this hotel, I feel, doesn't meet the 3 stars standard and as a family we would not return to this hotel again. The sister hotel across the road looked amazing (no picnic benches in sight!) and speaking to guests over there, they were praising the facilities.

Hotel is dated but it’s very clean. We had a family room for 2 adults and 3 children. The room was big enough for us. Bathroom is a good size and so was the bedroom. The pool was a good size, could have done with more sun loungers though. Water park was a great day, and being all inclusive you don’t have to pay for entry. You do have to pay for drinks and food. The price wasn’t terrible either, thought it was fair prices tbh. Food choices in the hotel was good at all meal times. Food was a good standard, I have a fussy wife when it comes to eating on holidays, and she was happy with choices. Went out in porter rico a few times and found it really cheap to eat and drink out in town. Will definitely be heading back to the island very soon.

Brilliant hotel, still there now and loving it

Great family holiday with a fantastic waterpark We recently stayed at LIVVO Taurito and had a really enjoyable family holiday. Before arriving, we were quite concerned after reading some of the previous reviews and wondered if we’d made the right choice. In hindsight, we needn’t have worried. I do think some expectations perhaps need to be re-evaluated. This is a 3-star hotel that includes free access to a fantastic waterpark, and when viewed in that context, we felt it offered very good value for money. Some of the more negative experiences people have mentioned may also be influenced by the behaviour and inconsiderate nature of certain guests rather than the hotel itself. Our room was spacious and clean, with a large balcony overlooking the pool area and a lovely view of the sea. The maid did a sterling job of cleaning the room throughout our stay, even clearing away food thrown from the guest’s balcony above us, and we didn’t see any cockroaches at all inside the hotel (only a few outside but to be expected in the canaries right!). The shower was always hot with plenty of water pressure, which was a welcome bonus after a day in the sun. The staff were friendly and the animation team were great with activities planned throughout the day, archery, darts shuffleboard and water polo to name a few. The evening entertainment was enjoyable, with shows including Greece and The Lion King, which made for some good evenings. We found the food to be perfectly fine and, with more than enough choice for our family. The pool bar was okay for quick snacks, but if you want a proper meal, we’d recommend heading to the restaurant. One thing we did notice in the restaurant was the behaviour of some guests rather than any fault of the hotel. On several occasions, we saw both children and adults using their hands to pick up food instead of the serving utensils, and some people dropped food on the floor without making any attempt to pick it up or alert staff. To the restaurant team’s credit, they were quick to clear up any spills and worked hard to keep the dining area clean and hygienic despite the inconsiderate behaviour of a few guests. One very minor point, I’m unsure if it is an isolated issue to our 10 days but the breakfast toasters were all broken, some warmed your bread while some did nothing at all so would encourage the hotel to replace them all at minimal cost. The free waterpark was a fantastic addition and was definitely one of the highlights of our holiday. The salt water didn’t bother my three boys one bit, and we spent most of our days there. There were plenty of sun loungers available, and €4 for a parasol was a bargain. It’s also worth noting that the hotel is situated in a fairly isolated cove, so if you’re looking to be within walking distance of a lively town with lots of shops, bars and restaurants, this probably isn’t the right choice for you. We enjoyed the quieter location, but it’s something to be aware of before booking. If you do want to explore further afield, there are regular buses and taxis available, although these are at an additional cost. The only thing that really let the hotel down, in our opinion as previously noted, were some of the clientele. We witnessed two men getting into a fracas, which appeared to be a case of too much booze and testosterone. Thankfully, it was quickly over and didn’t spoil our holiday, but it did reinforce our feeling that some of the hotel’s criticism is unfairly directed at the hotel itself when, in reality, guest behaviour is sometimes the bigger issue, later that night saw one of the chaps sleeping on the lobby sofa so assume bigger issues. The last day, checkout at 11 and you can use the all inclusive, we had breakfast and lunch but left before dinner and enjoyed some final drinks from the bar. Overall, we had a great family holiday at LIVVO Taurito. The spacious, clean rooms, consistently hot showers, friendly staff, hardworking animation team and fantastic waterpark made it a memorable stay. If you’re looking for a luxury 5-star experience, this probably isn’t the place for you. But if you’re after a great-value, family-friendly 3-star hotel with a brilliant free waterpark, we’d happily recommend it and would certainly consider returning.
