We have just returned home after a two week stay at the Charela Inn. It was very good, lived up to all expectations. Staff are all so friendly and helpful. Obviously the food is excellent, varied and well cooked and a decent choice on the All-Inclusive package that we had we through Tui. My only negative comment would be that sometimes the helpings were just too big, too much for my old stomach to digest ! One good thing was that the serving staff could tell you what the dishes were, doesn't happen everywhere ! Cocktails very potent---excellent. The beach was perfect, clean white sand and as many sunbeds as you wanted and all dispersed under the palms, shade or sun was no problem. Sea calm and warm and clean, a gentle slope in, so nice. This did change with the onset of the American cold front sweeping down for our last few days, some very windy days, a drop in temperature and rough seas and .... RAIN !!!! sometimes lots of it but normally not for too long. Our garden room was fine but the traffic noise from the main road outside could be a bit intrusive at times. Housekeeping was excellent. However one issue that needs attention is the shower in the bathroom. I really did think that the old bath and shower taps with plastic curtain was a thing of the past ! The shower head was the old "needle" type, not very good. There was plenty of room to remove the bath and just fit the usual "rain" type shower. It is a small (by modern standards) hotel and rather quirky in the nicest possible sense, rather individual which suited us fine. Overall we enjoyed our two week holiday. Jen & Brian Lacey.
I’ve been going to Negril for 50 years. I’ve stayed at many places along the beach. The room was very old. Mini fridge was not balanced so things fell out. Porch light not working. Lousy linens no blankets or quilt. Old, ugly bathroom. Not worth the money
The evry best Chill Hotel in Negril!!!
We are flying back to uk tomorrow after staying at charella for 2 weeks , it really has been a wonderful stay with a hardworking team of staff looking after the guests. The hotel is peaceful with lovely gardens and spotlessly clean rooms. Mr Grizzle is often walking around chatting to his guests and even offers complimentary cocktails for an hour once a week for his guests . I will highly recommend this lovely place to all my friends and family.
Terrible experience, other than “some of” the food that we FINALLY got the main course for, after waiting 2, that’s T W O hours for! Working backwards, the bill- got a charge of $84 for a $34 bottle of wine. When it came back “corrected” NOT, they left the service charge (12 1/2%) on from the prior attempt to beat me, based on the wrong higher total. To get it fixed I stood at the bar section where they made me wait for a very long time…no apologies. I was totally polite and didn’t say a word. My patience should have got me a medal. Entertainment /band was good but VERY loud. That’s VERY loud to the point of not being able to talk or hear my lady 2 ft away. Service during dinner was terrible - took utensils and had to beg for more, begged for water… As this is turning into too much of a rant I now stop. There’s more. We’ve gone there for years but that’s the last time.
