Charela Inn

We booked Charela Inn expecting a relaxing, all-inclusive experience. What we got instead was poor communication, inconsistent service, and unexpected charges. The biggest problem: the so-called all-inclusive package. We ordered drinks assuming they were included, only to be charged $45 for two drinks. That’s not a minor mistake—that’s misleading. If items are excluded, that needs to be clearly explained upfront, not quietly added to the bill later. Service was equally disappointing. The staff was just average at best, and basic requests were repeatedly missed. We asked for bacon at breakfast—never received it. Asked for water—never received it. These aren’t complicated requests; they’re the basics of hospitality. The room itself was another issue. It had a noticeable dirty mop smell, which made it feel unclean from the moment we walked in. That alone is unacceptable at this price point. To be fair, the beach and location are excellent—arguably the best part of the stay. But that’s not enough to outweigh the lack of transparency, poor follow-through, and overall underwhelming experience. Bottom line: Nice beach, but the all-inclusive offering is misleading, service is unreliable, and the room condition needs attention. Would not return without major improvements. Charela Inn has a great location on a beautiful palm lined stretch of white sand on Negrils famous 7 mile Beach. The location is definitely 5 star. The rooms are very nice, spacious and charming. My ocean front view was fabulous. Despite these pluses, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The food was expensive and not very good. The drinks were very sub par. But most disappointing of all was the service. Most of the staff was just indifferent, but 2 in particular were rude and actually threatening when questioned. One lifeguard tried to hit a dog with a rake and when I asked him to stop, he became verbally abusive and told me I was crazy and he was going to watch me. He then spent hours glaring at me and muttering under his breath. Very uncomfortable experience

My trip is not finished...Im still here. Since my favorite resort closed down, I have been experiencing different hotels in Negril, I almost gave up on Seven Mile beach. But finally, I have found my new 2nd home named, Charela Inn. Please dont tell everyone, that the service and food is 5 star. My mattress and pillows are perfect clouds and there is shade, from the palms at the beach. Thank you to the booking queen, the luggage gent that introduced me to my home away from away, the friendly serving staff, the chef that whips up these delicious and gorgeous looking meals, not to forget the chambermaid that washed my clothes, and , Ruben. One Love.

Lovely hotel with fantastic food in a great location, but let down by some of the staff. We went there for a romantic celebration of our fortieth wedding anniversary, a trip of a lifetime. We are not wealthy, and had booked the trip half board (breakfast and evening meal), which seemed to be met with the 'Oh, you're on the meal plan.' We met the owner on Wednesday, meet the staff day, and told him why we were there, and what had made us choose his hotel and he seemed vaguely interested, he was from Birmingham originally and knew of Stoke-on-Trent, where we live. The rooms were very clean and the bedding and towels were changed regularly (the cleaning lady was lovely and the only person we tipped when we left). The view from our beach front room 202 had coconut and palm trees, the beach and the sea right in front of us and it was amazing. We have never eaten such lovely food, and the Croissants they do are really nice and buttery and are a must on the days they do them (The only issue with the food is that they do not do Jerk Chicken). The hotel is situated right in the middle of the beach, a shop a little way up on your right facing the beach and about a quarter of the way down the other way, a small road that leads you off the beach, where you can cross the road to Times Square Shopping Mall. If you walk to Negril, to the roundabout and turn left, just past the bakery is a dirt road where some fruit and veg stalls are selling all sorts of Jamaican fruit, which the ladies there will tell you all about. To summarise, we had a fantastic holiday in a great hotel, ate some amazing food, explored the area we were in, used Uber to get around, and the only downside was that some of the staff were not that helpful or polite.

Lovely small hotel and excellent restaurant right on the best part of the beach in Negril. Lots of palm trees on the beach so no problem finding shade if that’s what you want. No fights over lounge chairs, and the beach is raked every day. Shallow entry into clear water. There is also a small pool surrounded by gardens. We stayed in a ground floor garden room with an accessible shower. Everything in the room worked well but we did find the room very dark when the curtains were closed. We found the staff very friendly and helpful especially accommodating our 3 year old in the restaurant.
