Sunset at the Palms Resort Spa

Another amazing stay at Sunset at the Palms. When you see the devastation on the Island from Hurricane Melissa and learning that power is still out in parts of the Island while some Jamaicans are still without full rooves, the resilience and resolve of the people with such a positive outlook is so inspiring. Fortunately, Sunset at the Palms was spared major damage. The Resort looked exactly as it was when we last visited in 2024 and the staff couldn’t be more welcoming. It was so heartwarming to hear “Welcome Home!” from familiar faces with huge sincere smiles. The character and smaller size of Sunset at the Palms is what originally lured us in, but once you engage with staff you truly feel like family. The staff remembered our names and welcomed us with hugs and fist bumps. Daily, we saw management supporting their staff and always inviting a conversation. All of the staff take great pride in pleasing the guests. Such big, beautiful smiles. The meals were delicious, hot, and well presented. The buffet provided many different Jamaican options, BBQ grilled meats and always fresh salads. Chef’s Table and Lotus Leaf provided outstanding meals. The returning guest meal was simply exceptional. The General Manager, Evatt Bloomfield, grilled the most delicious lobster tail that I have ever eaten. Well done!! Such a pleasant person to speak with. The beach is just so beautiful and it appeared to us as we remembered. Unfortunately, other resorts in the area were not as lucky. Sad to see resorts shuttered and out of commission. The waters were so warm and we were grateful to experience the rays swimming amongst us and Pelicans dive bombing for fish. The majority of the beach musicians and vendors were busy entertaining everyone. We are huge fans of Donovan Dalrymple and he did not disappoint and incredibly he recognized us from his seat at the Office of Nature. I was privileged to be the recipient of his rendition of Happy Birthday and a follow up song for my wife that brought tears to her eyes. Donovan is an amazing ambassador for Jamaica. Our room was spacious, clean and well kept. The housekeeping team do an amazing job and we loved their daily towel art. Paul the Piano Player still draws crowds to his performances; his stories remain unchanged. Lol Now for the stars of the show. Our friends who made our vacation so very special are; Britney, Tameka, Kashin, Jason, Christina, Chris, Nadine, Cornelius, Cashwayne, Odine, Gerald, Kirk, Taneisha, Shannon, Margaret, Omar, all of the chefs and front desk staff. First of all, we enjoyed our trip, but the reason I gave it a 3 was that there were a few things that needed mentioning. The wooden louvered blinds were nice, but we had to keep them closed because there were only screens behind them, no glass. I would have loved to open them to let in light. The rooms are dark. The mosquito spray every night was terrible. There was a fog that penetrated the rooms because there wasn't any glass to keep it out. I can't believe it was “safe” to inhale as we were told by staff. All dining is open air except for the specialty restaurant. It was so hot and humid. Don't go in June. One night I was in the middle of a shower and the water quit in the entire resort. The food was mediocre except for the bacon. It was delicious and the drinks were strong. They didn't skimp on alcohol. We will probably not revisit Sunset at the Palms.

We had an exceptional stay at Sunset. The staff were amazing and friendly. The resort is peaceful and well maintained. The rooms very clean and well stocked. The beach and ocean is beautiful. Every meal was also a pleasure, great food and a lot of variety. Thank you for an excellent stay!!

This was unlike any vacation we have taken before and I mean that in the most positive way. The food was fresh and there was plenty of variety throughout the week. The staff were cool and kind which helped with the adjustment to the area. The property is beautiful, clean, serene and you must make sure you take care of it. The cats keep to themselves and deter any pests. The goat occasionally roams and was very friendly. We loved the bungalow style treehouse rooms. We hardly heard the traffic on the A1 from our room. AC worked great. Local cable let us watch some NBA playoffs and then we put on cricket to learn something new. Mini fridges could have used a few more options, but all you had to do was ask for something else. They were restocked daily and the turn down service was quick and inconspicuous. The bars were a short walk from the rooms. Crossing the street to the beach was very easy and comfortable and the beach was great for its privacy. If you don't want to be bothered by the vendors, just say 'no thanks' and they move along. The lunch provided from the beach grill was solid and quick. The Ginger Lily Spa was great during the rainy afternoon. The Chef Showcase was appealing and fun. No ATM on premise so make sure you bring some extra cash to take care of the crew and buy souvenirs. Completely worth the cost to make sure you have a great and comfortable experience. Book the private transfer from the airport. The drivers were safe, kind, and well versed on how to experience the island if you want to do that. Use a Scotiabank ATM in a safe location if you need to get extra cash.

We're on our last day today, sat in the bar in an apocalyptic thunderstorm, so I thought I'd use the time to write a review. The previous 10 days, the weather was stunning!! We've thoroughly enjoyed our 11 nights at the Sunset on the Palms resort in Negril. We've found the experience both relaxing and enjoyable. As mentioned by many others, the staff make a holiday. They're all great and seem to enjoy what they're doing. There are lots of high fives and fist pumps and my wife absolutely loves being referred to as the Lady Boss. The treehouse style rooms are lovely and the gardens are amazing set in over 1000 palm trees. They are a bit rustic, but are large enough and all have a good balcony, a huge comfortable bed and a decent shower. The food is good, with enough choice. There could be more but it's only a relatively small resort!! The beach is the best bit. You have to cross the road, but when you get to it, it's a real wow moment. Fantastic white powder sand with lots of thatched Cabana's with plenty of shade. The hotels down the beach don't have the same shade which for some, might he a big problem. I for one don't like too much direct sun!! My wife and I have absolutely loved our stay. Thank you.
