Baobab Sea Lodge

I think Kilifi is a great destination for anyone who loves lush green vegetation, great weather and uncrowded beaches. Once you arrive at Baobab Sea Lodge, you walk through a canopy of mature greenery that immediately makes the place feel cool and serene. For a moment, you could almost forget that you are staying on a beachfront property. The rooms are spacious, clean, well-spaced and practical, with everything you need for a comfortable stay — hot showers, a safe, hairdryer, fan, air conditioning, tea-making facilities and a fridge. Whether you choose a beach or garden view, each room has a balcony with a daybed and some additional seating. Baobab Sea Lodge is set in a very quiet environment, and you are almost guaranteed a peaceful stay. I have had the opportunity to visit many hotels in different geographical locations, from high-end properties to more modest establishments. While BSL may not be the most modern hotel, being an older establishment, there are certain things it does exceptionally well. For me, the biggest highlights are the serenity, quiet and uncrowded beach. The abundance of mature trees helps take the edge off the coastal heat, while the quiet sandy beach, hospitable staff and relaxed atmosphere make the experience even more enjoyable. If you appreciate rustic, natural spaces and prefer peace and tranquillity over crowded, highly commercialised resorts, this could be your spot. Why choose an overcrowded beach destination when Baobab Sea Lodge is still offering this kind of experience? And the food deserves a mention too. From the starter to the dessert, I found the meals to be great. Overall, I believe Baobab Sea Lodge offers good value for money — especially for anyone looking for a quiet, green and genuinely relaxing coastal escape.

We loved our night at Baobab. It was quiet and comfortable. It is not a big, crowded resort, but more of a small hotel with pool and restaurants. The beach is fantastic and we loved George, the jewelry vendor right next to the hotel on the beach. The pool is a bit run down, but the food is great. My most favorite part was the majestic Boabab trees.

A beautiful little gem the staff were all so polite Omar went above and beyond to make our stay great it was quiet their were only one other couple so no buffet food we got menu everyday to pick from which happens when it's like this no problem booking a safari we booked a 2 day trip which was fantastic got picked up from our hotel. Would recommend this hotel to anyone but remember this is kenya so don't expect all the trappings of a all inclusive elsewhere

Lovely hotel with helpful friendly staff. Ultra laid back. Kept very clean, beautiful location, great rooms, nice pool, and food service was good. If you are looking for a hotel with lots of partying and activities on offer this is probably not the place for you….this is more somewhere to take it easy, probably in between excursions and going on safari. Only slight criticisms, which is no fault of the hotel, is that the beach whilst lovely, could also do with a bit more regular cleaning. Also to get anywhere like shops, cafes, restaurants you need to take a taxi or tuk tuk. But otherwise a great stay and somewhere that I will have fond memories of. Also look out for the cute family of monkeys who come to visit!

This character filled peaceful resort is beautiful. As ever from me , an honest review. Hotel - small and pretty much perfect. A little dated perhaps but in my opinion it gives it character. It is not your average all inclusive resort type hotel, more a laid back , friendly oasis of peace which is just what I was looking for following the loss of my husband. If you’re looking for a quiet, restful beautiful location this is the hotel for you. Rooms - characteristic, round rooms almost resembling a safari lodge. A little dark inside but clean, lots of storage and a good size bed ! Set out in lovely gardens , these little hut style rooms are wonderful. The shower is, well….functional however the shower strength is minimal but gets the job done. The rooms are cleaned daily with refreshed bottled water , a kettle and a fridge and also a safety deposit box. Food - if you’re used to busy all inclusive resorts then this might be a little different. The food is tasty and fresh with several choices each meal time , when guest numbers are low, they take your lunch to order rather than over cook loads of food buffet style. Food is tasty and hot and I highly recommend a pizza and fries by the pool! Tusker lager is charged at the low cost of 600 shillings but the free local beer is tasty! This is not sub standard, it is just less than you get in large busy resorts, but I certainly didn’t go hungry. Pool - an oasis. Lovely and clean and kept clean all day too. The pool guy is a grafter and worth popping him a tip at the end if your stay. He is a hard worker ! Staff - super friendly. Good communication and although ‘poly poly’ ( slowly slowly ) at times , they are more than happy to help you with anything. Little shout out to Omar, who can organise your excursions with a big smile and always a happy greeting when he sees you.
