Impressive Punta Cana

This is a 3 star hotel at best. They do not like white British and will serve anyone and everyone before they even consider serving you. I don’t know why this is but there was a number of other white British families who experienced the same treatment. They made my 16 year old daughter change from beach wear for the restaurant (which I 100% understand) however they let other ladies wear thongs and completely see through clothing! It made no sense to me at all and for my daughter it made her feel discriminated against and very self conscious. There is a potent smell of sewage in the hotel. They do not clean the cups that they use for drinks other than rinse with some tap water. We all experienced really bad stomachs and put it down to this. If you are to go here please bring your own cup as many people did that, as did we when we realised. Electricity kept going off. We had no water one day. Cleaners are so lively but don’t really do a proper clean. Our cleaner was the friendliest person we met. The food is not good. Even in the restaurants. We found the best food in the sports bar but that was touch & go and was basically crap but the best they had to offer. You can’t really go out of the hotel to use better beaches without paying a premium. The shops in the hotel are prices extremely expensive. There are some local shops within a 5 minute walk that is a fraction of the price you would pay in the hotel. The staff are rude, white British is not welcome, it smells bad and isn’t clean. There also isn’t anywhere to go to relax as there are activities happening all the time which is great but there should also be places to relax.

Very disappointing experience — still waiting for our upgrade refund Unfortunately, our stay was deeply disappointing and fell well short of the standard we expected from a premium area of the resort. We paid for an upgraded experience, but the level of service, cleanliness, food quality and attention to detail did not represent any cost for upgrading and value for money. The above details should be upheld any additional costs. What makes the situation even more disappointing is that we are still waiting for a refund for the upgrade we paid for, despite the issues we experienced with the promised services. We have now sent six emails to the hotel regarding this matter and, to date, we have received no communication or meaningful response from the hotel. This lack of communication is extremely frustrating and, in our opinion, further demonstrates a lack of appropriate customer service. Our main issues included: Only one pair of slippers provided despite two guests sharing the room. Laundry not collected until two days after we complained and completed the required paperwork. We had to contact Customer Service through the app to chase the return of our laundry. Housekeeping supplies were not replenished daily despite specifically requesting this at Reception. Poor experiences at the restaurants, including repeatedly overcooked Filet Mignon and meals that were either incomplete, dry or poorly presented. Butler service, which was included as part of our upgrade, was not provided until eight days into our holiday. Staff in the buffet area attempted to seat us at tables that had not been cleared of any previous guests dirty dishes and wasn't appropriately cleaned. We felt that Spanish-speaking guests appeared to receive preferential treatment. The seaweed situation on the beach and the presence of a tractor working directly at the front of the beach also detracted from the overall experience. We paid for a premium/upgraded experience and expected a corresponding level of service. Unfortunately, the reality was very very very different. The fact that we are now having to repeatedly chase the hotel by email — six emails and still no response — is particularly disappointing. We should not have to continually pursue a hotel for a refund relating to a service that was not delivered as promised. At this stage, our biggest concern is not only the disappointing holiday itself, but the complete lack of communication regarding the refund. We hope the hotel management eventually addresses this matter properly, provides the refund that is due, and takes the necessary steps to ensure future guests do not experience the same level of poor of customer service and communication. Overall: a premium price, but unfortunately not a premium experience — and still no satisfactory resolution. TripAdvisor states that you have to put a rating on this and would of been nothing but its down as one as a necessity.

Just got home and can't say how happy i am to be away from the horric smells. I think our mood was set the minute we landed which did not help. Pre booked taxi did not turn up and the munute we stepped out the airport doors with our children we were offered anything we wanted. Stuff you dont want. We then asked for another taxi and explained we had 7 people plus 7 cases as we were here for 3 weeks. No problem he said, walks us to his car and may aswell had a corsa. Another hour sorting this issue. Leaving the airport to getting in to our room took 4.5 hours. Not a great start. Now for the hotel. Check-in was very very slow and only one person was checking people in with so many waiting. Awful aircon, you never know whether the temp is correct but all 3 of our rooms had to complain multiple times for it to be fixed. Way to hot to sleep some nights. 3 or 4 times we had no cleaner in with no fresh towels given or water added and the room at times had a damp smell. Considering we was there for 3 weeks I couldn't really fault the food to much. Only had a couple of nights where it wasn't for us. One thing is, is not all food is marked up as to what it is and the ones that are do not always match the food. Plus no allergy signs meaning one of our party couldn't touch the puddings. When asking, the staff just didn't understand. The Mexican was the worst for us. We walked out before pudding even came. Way to hot in there and the food was very very poor. Whilst the sargasse is in no way the fault of the hotels, infact we walked for miles each way up the beach and it was probably the best maintained, it was just sometimes to hard to sit and enjoy the food or a drink due to the smell. Its worse than seaweed. Like rotten eggs and rotten fish mixed together. I had my t-shirt wrapped round my face and i was still nearly sick. Where they have a tractor digging and churning it up it makes it worse but the fact they dump the pile about 3ft from the heritage club, members only bar shocked me yet daily they are trying to upsell this. Yes its hurrican season but it has apparently been an issue for some time now. The water at times looks black but and at no time was it ever clear and worth swimming in. Now for the pools. First day holiday excitement we jumped in to the swim up bar pool. Didn't care for the 1st day but straight away we noticed loud music from the bar added by someone elses large boom box playing spanish songs on the bar. Couldn't even think with two tracks on at the same time. This pool plus the kids pool and one at the front need some serious TLC, floor peeling off and dirt all round the edge. We then found the relax pool which was great as you were far enough away not to hear Ibiza rocks. We went back to the main pool towards the end of the day so the kids could join in with a game. Getting in at that time made you realize what we had walked in too. Hundreds of plastic cups floating or round the edge of the pool, people barely able to stand up and the feel on your skin when you got out the pool well god knows what it was. We decided the relax pool was more us. Yet the Premium pool sits only 20ft away meaning even louder music would play every now and then from there. What made that worse was it would always start with a slow song and finish with the same slow song 2 songs later so you heard, celine dion-my heart will go on, whitney - i will always love you or ed sheeran - perfect. One of those songs you would hear 6 times a day and 3 times within 20 minutes. Once a week they have a foam party in that pool so the music is loud for around 2 hours. By the end there would be empty cups floating and cigerttes all in the pool. Every now and then security would have to tell someone off as they think everyone wants to hear their music so they would play their boom box loud, put it by the edge of the relax pool and swim off. The hotel, we noticed caters more for south Americans. 85% is full of Peurto Ricans, Columbians, Brazilians and Argentinians along with Mexicans Americans and English. Due to the distance, the amount of new guest we saw daily from South America was huge and this is where the Benidorm name played it's part. We see a few stag and hen parties but also alot of large groups there for only 3-4 days to party. Which is great during the day as you can keep out the way and not see the carnage left behind until you took your towels back early evening but come the evening all respect goes out the window. We have 3 young children and we had a connecting room then a gap then a family room. The gap room on several occasions thought it was great to blast music at 3 am a few times. This was not the same guest. For 4 days on the last week, we literally got no sleep. I woke thinking music was playing in my room, opened the front door and the floor above and opposite at 3am were just stood at the front door with a boom box at full blast. This then followed the next 3 nights with a large party split over around 6 rooms on all 3 floors literally opposite and below standing out of the rooms shouting and screaming at each other over long periods. We opened our doors and kindly asked them to keep it down. All seemed fine until 2 am they would get payback and would run through the corridor 'Arrrrrrgggghhhhh' at the top of their voices and jump the stairs from top to bottom. The last night a security guard was directly behind the guy doing it as my wife went marching out. He said im dealing with it , go back in but he didn't actually do anything. I headed to reception and explained it was poor so they literally had a security guard stand in the block. Again it happened the following night, this resulted in an altercation in the buffet the following morning and staff seperating us. Thankfully they all went home that morning. A family member used the toilet at the relax pool to change and accidentally put their wallet next to the sink and walked out. He realised within 10 minutes and went back. £60 in pesos had been taken and the wallet left stood up. The pool area was empty and only the cleaner was round there at the time. This resulted in a 3 day check of CCTV , they said they could only see her go into the ladies and not the mens but then said the camera couldn't pick that part of the toilet up. Make your mind up. He didn't care about the money it was more the principle and to let the person know he knew. South Americans are quite open when touching each other in front of others but christ some couples. One couple were setting a camera up on a tripod next to the pool then flming things they were doing in the pool. that should be left for the room not for the kids in the pool to see. Apart from no sound or much atmosphere the team in the sports bar were fantastic and looked after us all holiday plus it was the coolest place to drink in the evening. Spoke to the concierge about keeping one of the rooms on for a late check out and they came back with a form to sign, they said due to problems we would like to give it to you for free as a good will gesture, please sign. Bare in mind we had not even mentioned complaining, yet the form was to say we accept this as good will and a way to close all matters and this signiture is to confirm we can not put any further complaints through via our travel company or third parties as we have now accepted this as an apology. The audacity was unreal. The cheek. Safe to say it was not signed. I was shocked by the good reviews on this hotel but after realising its alot of South Americans im not suprised. Everytime we walked the beach or the front of the hotel we were asked if we wanted drugs. Just constantly hassled. So if you want a benidorm style holiday then this is the place for you. Safe to say we will not return. Probably not even to the Domincan. Zanzibar was far better yet more run down and Dominican does not even come close to Mexico. Shame as the staff are amazing.

The experience was pretty good. We had a great time and we were able to enjoy all the restaurants and facilities by planning ahead. The food and locations both met our expectations. The staff was quite friendly and helpful as well. Amazing room (We got an upgrade) and the whole 6-night stay was memorable! The nighttime entertainment was different and fun, for all ages. Quality hows across the board! Now, we could be nitpicky about the sargassum at the beach, but we knew about it in advance and, honestly, being a nature-related occurrence, we think it was nicely handled by the hotel. I honestly feel we got a very nice deal when we chose this place. Congratulations!

⭐ 1/5 — Extremely Disappointing Experience I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Impressive Punta Cana. My family and I arrived on June 3, 2026, and by June 4 I was already ready to leave because our room had no proper air conditioning. The room was unbearably hot, and my kids and I could not sleep comfortably. We had a terrible first night because of the heat. Despite these conditions, the resort charged my wife's account for TWO NIGHTS. I find that completely unacceptable considering that the reason we wanted to leave was because the room conditions made it extremely difficult for my family to sleep. By Friday morning at approximately 8:00 AM, I was already packing our belongings and preparing to leave the hotel. We came to Punta Cana expecting a relaxing family vacation, not sleepless nights in a hot hotel room. Proper air conditioning is a basic expectation at a resort in the Dominican Republic, especially in June. What makes this situation even more frustrating is that approximately TWO MONTHS later, they decided to charge me an additional $192.57. So after my family had a terrible experience, couldn't sleep properly because of the heat, and my wife's account was already charged for two nights, I am now dealing with ANOTHER $192.57 charge two months later. Instead of making things right after such a disappointing experience, the resort has made the situation even worse by adding another charge. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Impressive Punta Cana. I expected much better customer service, accountability, and treatment of guests from a resort handling a legitimate complaint from a family whose vacation was disrupted. I am requesting that the additional $192.57 charge be reversed. I also believe the resort should take responsibility for the conditions we experienced and the fact that my wife's account was charged for two nights despite our terrible experience.
