I rarely write a review before actually staying somewhere, but considering Ocean El Faro cancelled our confirmed vacation while continuing to sell vacations for the same dates at considerably higher prices, I think future customers deserve to know about our experience. We booked a 14-night vacation at Ocean El Faro for February 9–23, including a Privilege Swim-Up room. Our booking was CONFIRMED. We made our plans believing that when a major resort company confirms a reservation, that confirmation actually means something. Apparently, we were wrong. We have now been informed by SellOffVacations that the HOTELIER cancelled our booking and that SellOffVacations cannot reinstate it. Naturally, we assumed there must be an availability issue. Except there isn’t. Ocean El Faro is STILL being sold for our travel dates. Not only can you still purchase vacations at this resort for the period we were booked to travel, but they are now being offered at considerably higher prices. That is the part I find extremely troubling. If the resort truly could not accommodate our confirmed reservation, that would at least provide an understandable explanation. But when a confirmed booking is cancelled and the resort then continues to accept bookings for those same dates at much higher prices, customers are entitled to ask some serious questions. Why was our confirmed booking cancelled if there is still inventory available to sell? And perhaps more importantly: What exactly does “confirmed” mean when booking an Ocean resort? I can’t review the restaurants, beach, pools or beautiful Privilege Swim-Up room we selected because Ocean cancelled our opportunity to experience any of them. What I CAN review is how our reservation has been handled. We booked in good faith. We received confirmation. We planned a two-week vacation around that confirmation. Then our booking was cancelled by the hotelier, according to the company we booked through. And now we can watch the very resort we were supposed to be staying at continue to advertise itself and sell vacations for our dates — for considerably more money. We have retained our original booking confirmation, the information regarding the cancellation and screenshots showing continued availability. We are not asking for a free vacation. We are not asking for an upgrade. We are not asking for special treatment. We are asking Ocean to honour the reservation that was already confirmed. Until Ocean El Faro provides a reasonable explanation or makes this right, I would strongly encourage anyone considering booking this resort to think carefully about our experience. Beautiful pools, swim-up rooms, restaurants and beaches don’t mean very much if a customer can’t have confidence that a confirmed reservation will actually be honoured. Ocean El Faro/Ocean Signature Resorts has an opportunity to make this right. Honour our confirmed booking
Had a great time. Service was phenomenal and our service attendant for the week was amazing! His name is Alex and he was super attentive and very helpful! He always knew where to find us and made sure we had what we needed. Jonathon at the privilege beach was also really great! Super funny and charasmatic. He made our beach day fun. Justina at the privilege bar was also great! She was so nice with our daughter and made her experience one to remember! As I said the service we had was great! Definitely enjoyed the experience from that aspect. Food was not what we expected overall for an Ocean property, but overall it was a good experience. They were renovating during our stay so some things were not open.
We stayed for two weeks. We were concerned after reading some of the reviews. But we had an amazing time. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Maids are lovely. The mini bar was restocked daily. The buffet restaurant, we always found something to eat. We also ate at the steak house, route 66 and the Italian. My husband has a good appetite and there were no problems asking for a bigger portion. All the staff are so friendly. Very patient with my son practicing his Spanish. Franklin was the best. Sorted out all or restaurant bookings and checked in with us every day. Felix the TUI rep was so helpful. No issues finding a sunbed at any time of day. We did one day trip to Samoa island. Fabulous day would definitely recommend. Ruben was a very good tour guide. We throughly enjoyed our holiday and are looking to book again for next year.
The customer service was great The maid Yajaira from building 9 was amazing Super sweet. We were in room 9225 and she was great
Had a great time in my second adopted home. Deiby Santana was the best as always. Courteous, caring, customer friendly.
