Very disappointing experience at La Digue Lodge — misleading information and poor management Unfortunately, our experience at La Digue Lodge was very disappointing, mainly because of the way the situation was handled by the manager, Emmanuella Hassan. The hotel gives the impression that Wi-Fi is available throughout the resort, but in reality, internet access is only available in the rooms and around the reception area. This is a large resort, so once you go to the pool, dining area, or walk around the property, there is no internet connection. This was particularly inconvenient for us because we rely on Wi-Fi while travelling, and our mobile phone plan does not provide internet access in Seychelles. When we raised this issue with Emmanuella Hassan and explained that we felt the hotel's information was misleading, her attitude was very unpleasant. Rather than trying to understand our concern or offer a solution, she appeared dismissive, made faces, and seemed uninterested in what we were saying. On our first day, as check-in was at 3pm, we went to the pool and had to wait for three hours until our room was ready. This was especially frustrating because we could not properly access the internet while waiting. After we continued to raise our concerns, Emmanuella eventually said that she would speak to her operations team. There was no apology and no meaningful attempt to resolve the issue. Two days passed without any follow-up, and she never contacted us to update us on the situation. When we told her that we were disappointed and would leave a bad review, her response was simply, “OK,” which unfortunately reinforced the impression that she did not really care about our experience. The Wi-Fi information should be made much clearer to guests. There is a big difference between saying that Wi-Fi is available at the hotel and saying that Wi-Fi is available only in certain areas of a large resort. There was also another issue with our room. When we arrived, there was no blanket — only a sheet covering the mattress. We called reception at around 3pm and asked for a blanket, and they said it would be arranged. We then went to the beach, and when we returned to our room at around 10pm, there was still no blanket. We called reception again and explained that we had still not received it. We were then told that they would try to find a blanket, but because the resort was busy, if they could not find one, they would give us two sheets instead. We had already requested a blanket seven hours earlier, so this was extremely disappointing. A blanket should have been available in the room in the first place. It seems that the resort is simply too busy to cope with the number of guests, and unfortunately, this is reflected in the level of service. Overall, the lack of communication, the misleading impression about the internet, the issues with the room, and especially the dismissive attitude of the manager made our stay much less enjoyable than it should have been. For a resort of this standard, we expected much better customer service and management.
I had a pleasant stay at the hotel, the place is so quiet, the room at the beach house was very clean and spacious. The staff was very nice and friendly. I will recommend everyone to choose this hotel.
Very bad experience from reception and the reservation team. No proper communication. Was planning for surprise for my husband birthday. All got ruined.1st of all no proper contact number. When emailed they take 2days n more to reply back. The receptionist was rude. In mails no proper communication and details were provided wch ended up in a nightmare. In room there wer ants n flys all over. It was raining n when I went to ask umbrella they made me go back getting wet in rain to check in room if I hd one inspite of telling them there was none. I won't even give 1 star coz of them it was all a flop show
Good location, bike available at the entrance for 100Scr. They come dirctly by bus at the ferry to pick you up with your bags. Everything is done in order to facilitate your arrival. Then the nightmare starts. Some chalets have no sea view while it is written sea view on the site. Not really clean inside, everything is old and it smells old. Super noisy, you can hear all the noises outside during the night. Lights wakes you up at 6am. And on top on it, you can have hot water only if you are lucky... Honestly, it looks good but too expensive for the offer.
I had a delightful holiday and was impressed by the effort the hotel made to accommodate my family. We had elderly relatives needing two rooms close to each other and close to central facilities, and at a busy time of year, at 3 days advance booking, we got them. We sometimes needed a buggy around the site and one was always found. We needed a chair/ stool in the shower and one was brought. The rooms were pleasantly furnished, the shower was big, the storage more than adequate, and (unlike some 5 star leisure and business hotels) was supplied with table and mirror for my make-up routine. On the negative side: cord on the kettle was too short so tea was made on the bedside table, we had to ask for tea-bags topped up, the bathroom needed hooks for the doors. As you can see, these were very minor niggles. Breakfast options were extensive, our poolside lunch was good. Dinner was probably 4/5 and understaffed, but it had started drizzling and I think more people chose to eat in than expected. Every single member of staff was helpful and friendly (pro-actively so when seeing mum's walking stick) and we were offered (free) a slightly later check-out without being asked, when reception realised that mum was not mobile enough to do anything during the gap between the official check-out and our transfer. The hotel itself is not wheelchair friendly, (we did not travel with a wheelchair) but the small number of steps was easy to manage. Reception helped us arrange and excursion, and booked a table for one dinner "out". The beach at the hotel is nothing great, no good for swimming, by Seychelles standards, but that applies to a lot of La Digue
