We have travelled with TUI as a family almost every year since 2015 and have always had positive experiences including using TUI for our wedding abroad. We have never previously made a formal complaint about a TUI holiday. We chose Maviss because it was marketed as a brand new, 5-star resort. We have previously stayed at Holiday Villages, Atlantica Aegean Blue and three Sensatori resorts, so we had high expectations for this hotel. Unfortunately, Maviss fell substantially below those expectations. We arrived at the hotel around 2am and had to wait around 45 minutes to check in. Not one staff member offered us a drink or food. We had booked 2 rooms and had specifically requested that our two rooms be close together because our sons were staying in the second room. Instead, the rooms were in completely different areas of the hotel. When we were taken to the second room we did have single beds and had to arrange for the sofa bed to be made up. By now it was around 3am and we had been travelling since 12 noon the previous day. We were told the boys could be moved the following morning but when we went to reception they still could not give us rooms that were opposite or anywherenear each other. It took us all morning to sort out the issue. This effectively wasted half of our first day. It also meant we were delayed in unpacking and settling in. The hotel is marketed as a new 5-star hotel, yet there have been numerous maintenance and facility issues. There was a real lack of peace and quiet. The hotel’s own website describes its rooms as providing ‘a peaceful accommodation with sea view’ yet we consistently experienced external noise from neighbouring properties - being woken at 1:30am. We also had significant noise from the restaurant directly above our room. On one occasion, we personally had to walk along the corridor closing windows and doors in an attempt to reduce the external noise entering the rooms. The main slide was unavailable throughout our stay - in fact, it doesn’t appear to have been in use at all since the hotel opened. There was also an occasion when we had no running water for over an hour. One of the biggest issues we had was that the hotel repeatedly requested access to our terrace to deal with a leak in the room below which meant we were being asked not to use our swim up pool on those occasions. To top it off, we woke up on our final day and realised our swim up pool had been drained so we were unable to spend our last day in the pool. This had not been communicated to us and completely spoilt the plans we had for final day which also happened to be our son’s 16th birthday. The hotel’s marketing describes the resort as offering a ‘multi sports court’ and diverse sports facilities’. The beach is described as a private swathe of sand-and-pebble beach’ - completely inaccurate! The actual sports facilities and beach surroundings we encountered did not reflect the image presented by the hotel. The multi sports court had two very small and damaged football goals. The beach is not what can be described sandy and the surrounding area was poorly maintained in places, with overgrown grass and unused umbrellas stacked untidily. The beach also appeared to be shared with guests from neighbouring hotels rather than providing the private beach we expected. The level of service waa particularly disappointing and no where near what we would expect of a 5 star hotel or what we had experiencedpreviously. The website describes the TUI Blue collection as ‘hotels that combine best-in-class service, authentic local cuisine and activities to suit you’. Most evenings we spent approximately 20 minutes walking around the restaurant trying to find a table. Not one staff member would assist us. We would have to sit at a dirty table and find someone to clear it, and then we had to obtain our own cutlery and drinks. We experienced repeated instances of staff being unhelpful or dismissive. My son was asked to wait for a drink while the staff member sent a text! I experienced members of staff shaking their head at me when they struggled to understand his drink order and got the order wrong. These are not isolated incidents and there are many examples of this behaviour from staff members. We have never had cause to complain about the staff at any other hotels we have ever been to. The food in the restaurant was consistently disappointing, morning, afternoon and evening. We struggled to find anything that was hot and if you arrived at the restaurant after 8pm you had to eat what was left as nothing was replaced. On one occasion, chicken appeared to be raw/undercooked, which was particularly concerning from a food-safety perspective. When there were event nights there would be drinks available at the restaurant entrance however by 7:30pm this was packed away. We were also unable to get bookings at either of the two additional restaurants. These are basic areas of guest service and organisation which we would expect to be handled very differently at a 5-star resort. Another huge problem is the fact that there are no clearly designated smoking areas around the pool and amphitheatre. Consequently, we were frequently exposed to cigarette smoke in these communal family areas and had to continually move tables to avoid the smoke. To end our substandard holiday, our flight home was not until 11:15pm. We asked whether we could pay for a late checkout and without even checking what rooms we were staying in, this was refused. We therefore had to check out at 2pm and spend a long period waiting for our transfer without a courtesy room or suitable changing facilities. This again completely ruined our final day and spoilt our son’s 16th birthday. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL - it is not a 5-star TUI BLUE holiday or anywhere near it. Since returning we have complained to TUI. We are met with useless phone calls and AI generated emails. TUI have rejected our complaint suggesting (amongst many contradictory reasons with each email) that we should have used the app to report issues rather than speaking to the humans in the hotel such as the hotel manager or the TUI rep. That we could not speak to the TUI rep as he was not "designated" to that hotel. Then to be told the TUI rep has no records so the complaint cannot be looked at. I still struggle to understand how a chat bot on an app could have resolved our pool being emptied or finding us rooms close together as opposed to the hotel management stood in front of us! Hopeless, a real disappointment and a feeling of no customer care for loyal customers.
Location is very good , it is a very clean hotel and the room we had was outstanding, plenty of sunbeds and no one was rushing to get a sunbed in the mornings so it was nice to have a laying every morning. But unfortunately that’s where it ends. Lots of snagging issue . The pool bar looked lovely, but unfortunately parents were up there with their children and babies all day long and were being served alcohol while in the pool with their children . My brother in law stepped on a glass in the pool when he tock it back to the bar and tried to explain he had stepped on it at the bottom of the pool they showed no interest, but that’s because they is a big language barrier and over 95% of staff didn’t have basic English. The food was more or less the same all week in the evenings and had very bad temperature issue as most food was Luke warm at best , l gave up in the end a barely eat anything in the evening The Italian restaurant was no better food was terrible no flavour and barely warm . The entertainment was mediocre at best 3 dance acts on 3 consecutive nights which just became same old same old The compare was a pain in the backside always talking and stopping music to talk he likes the sound of his own voice . Unfortunately the negatives of this hotel out weight the pros l would not recommend this hotel and it is no way near a 5 Stat rating . This is the 1st ever negative review l have ever given on a hotel and this sadden me because l always travel with Tui.
Hotel still has a lot to improve lots of snagging issues curtains in the room are too small for the windows but rooms are clean and spacious pool lovely lots of sun beds food lovely hotel very clean but service was non existent waiters was only cleaning tables not asking if you need a drink that is around the pool in the buffet and at night in the lobby area
I’ve just came back from a week stay. Overall, we did enjoy our stay however, there are improvements to be made. Firstly, our bathroom had a leak, this was reported 3 times to reception until it was fixed properly. The first time a maintenance man came and left the bathroom in a puddle and told us we needed to clean it with towels, it was also not fixed! This shouldn’t have been the guests job to do, but kindly a cleaner did come when it was then reported. we did not have any other issues with our room and actually found the rooms lovely and spacious but the finish in the room was poor, especially the wallpaper in the bathroom, it was peeling away. Next, the food and drink. The food was okay, they done good crepes, fish and salads but it was repetitive and the quality wasn’t amazing, especially the meat. It had your basic like pesto pasta, nuggets, mash etc but nothing was ever exciting. The pool/beach bar was just another buffet style, I’ve been to other hotels and they have a menu option at lunch which i find make a huge difference. They also advertise the beach/pool bars having a ‘menu’ option, so disappointing to see this wasn’t the case. Cocktails were either great or not drinkable, it really depends on who made the cocktails but there was a large variety of cocktails, which I do think is a positive of the hotel. This is just me being fussy, but I think the drinks really needed better glasses and decoration of the cocktails, especially if they advertise as a 5 star. The majority of staff I found extremely helpful and attentive. Especially in the main restaurant, they were always asking if we needed a drink and were overall pleasant, as well as the staff in the shops, bars and entertainment team. Some of the staff weren’t as cheerful however, it was extremely hot and I know it’s a tiring job so I can’t fault them too much on this. I saw a lot of negative comments on the staff and honestly, I did not experience any of that, they were all helpful. Our favourite thing about the hotel was the pool and the grounds, the pool was amazing and had enough space to accommodate all the guests, we had no issues getting a sun bed. Also enjoyed the coffee shop (however, the ice coffee was pre-made not made fresh) sports bar and Spa (I had a great massage). Overall, I did enjoy my stay and it was a well needed holiday. Would I return? Sadly no, the finishes on the hotel, cocktails and especially the food would need to improve before I would but for the price I paid, I wasn’t mad about the value for money.
Great location 20 mins from Land of Legends. Markets on the door step. 10 mins from Belek town. Hotel was very clean, large comfortable rooms and excellent choice of food. Water slides were great. Special mention for Laura the Tui Rep and Halil on guest relations for their excellent customer service. Would definitely recommend the hotel.
