SUNRISE Diamond Beach Resort Grand Select

This is a fair and honest review of our holiday. We got home this morning after 11 nights here and the brutal honesty is we couldn’t wait to get home! The first 5/6 days of this holiday was ruined by fellow guests. Now, unfortunately I can’t really post on the culture and nationality of these guests for the expectation of being called a racist, which I’m not. These group of people continuously endeavoured to use a short cut across our private terrace of our swim up room. Even after being asked 4 or 5 times to stop by hotel management, they never and it felt like they were invading our bit of area that we paid a lot of money to upgrade to. The hotel quality manager Mr Rafaat done his best by offering a breakfast in bed, which is nothing special as you get breakfast anyway but a nice gesture. Also, he offered free Snorkelling and allowed us a late checkout room at no extra cost. However, these are minimal gestures in the grand scheme of the total cost, but the thought was nice. We found the general clientele of similar feelings of being rude and entitled as they never say sorry for bumping into you or thank you for letting them pass you. We also had an air conditioning leak which cause a flood on our bathroom floor. When they had fixed it they left our bathroom with a wet, muddy floor from the workmen’s boots that we had to clean up ourselves before we could use the bathroom. The hotel itself is set in such a beautiful spot with wonderful views across the ocean. The staff are always willing to help, yet in some instances they’re quite slow. An example is when they ask you for your drink order, they’re slow in bringing it as they attend to others before you who slip them bundles of cash. The food was nice but it was very repetitive most nights with no real variations to our tastes. The room in general was lovely and clean and spacious for the two of us but we found the cleaner over empowering and interruptive of our day to check the room as he was fishing for tips. It’s actually a shame as we have visited Egypt twice previously. Once to Hurghada and once to Sharm El Sheik but this has totally put us off coming back to Egypt ever again. Mr Rafaat was very good with us though and he messaged us via WhatsApp throughout our stay but it was too little, too late for us. For the amount of money we had to pay for this visit, we leave with a bad taste, annoyance, regret and sadness that our holiday was made so upsetting by lots of unnecessary and unneeded issues.

Just returned from a 2 week holiday at this hotel and it was absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived and were greeted with "welcome home" our stay felt so special. The room was clean and spacious, mini bar filled everyday with water, beer and soft drinks. The jewels restaurant buffet is very generic everyday but there is alot of choice. It can get extemely busy but with it being such a big hotel that's expected. You can walk to the beach front for breakfast and dinner and its much quieter but not as much choice. A massive thank you to Mohammed who greeted and seated us everyday and who came round everyone checking everything was ok and made us so welcome. Thank you to Hany (inside) and Ibrahim (outside) who were always smiling, welcoming and fast with drinks. The al la carte are lovely especially the Mongolian and Indian. We spent most of our time relaxing round the oasis adult pool and here is where the amazing Mamood (lifeguard and towel man) and Hosan (barman) absolutely worked their socks off and attended to our every need. Sunbeds were ready for us, umbrellas were moved if needed, little towel animals were left most days, sunglasses cleaned, drinks were ready and made without having to say anything and brought to us. These men are a credit to the hotel along with all the other staff who are so friendly and welcoming. I would defo recommend this hotel and will defo return for a 2nd visit.

Love love love this place, really didn’t want to come home. The staff are amazing the whole place is spotless the grounds are well maintained, food is delicious. We stayed in the swim up rooms and in my opinion it was worth every extra penny. Half way through our holiday we booked for August next year but I’m missing this place so might get a cheeky week or two before. Highly recommend
