Kalypso Cretan Village

Location is pretty but remote and secluded, Rock hill terrain has disadvantages for people with health issues and limited mobility for sure. As it is a bay and area is a wind swirling pocket it’s either very windy or heavy and hot with moisture. Rooms are ok, bathrooms seem to need renovations. Outside spaces are poorly lit at night with plenty of lights not working and seem dirty and not very well maintained. I concluded that the property is advertised as being better than it actually is. Staff shortages and technical problems we have experienced during our stay made us regret staying here. Buffet food was not satisfying at all. Except that there is nothing to eat except dry old sandwiches and toast or a burger at beach bar. There is one shop that has basic things and it opens for few hours morning and evening. For two days there was some problem with sewage and the whole place smelled terribly. If you want to go out and eat or buy something you need to get into a car and drive 10 minutes. We also have been charged for sunbeds 20 euro on the rock/beach/cove which was dirty, sunbeds were dirty and old. Also cell reception is terrible for all carriers and for two days the hotel internet was not working. Tourist profile is low to mid range all inclusive style. Most of the trash is thrown around by guests. It is pet friendly which is a great plus.

I have had many holidays at Kalypso and always enjoyed my stay. The location is amazing with three sea water pools, friendly staff and good Cretan food. I am looking forward to my return visit in October.

The hotel is built on a very exotic place on the island and a view that was so sad to leave behind . The personal were so so warm and ready to help, either question or with the luggages. I paid for breakfast so I can experience the full of culture and home made food around town. No too much entertainment but when the day they had was very good choice they had.
