We stayed here as a family of four for seven days in mid/late August. Unfortunately, our stay wasn't as enjoyable as we'd hoped, largely because all of us became ill during the holiday. I've since learned that Rhodes has been experiencing higher rates of gastroenteritis, so it's difficult to know whether this was related to the hotel or not. Either way the hotel can more around infection control and advising guests on good hand hygiene etc, particularly given the issue nationally. We stayed in an apartment overlooking the Mythos pools, which I think is the best location in the resort, and we also upgraded to a sea view, which was definitely worth it. The hotel has stunning views (although no sunsets as they on the west side of the Island) and well-maintained grounds. Our apartment was spacious, with large bedrooms, good-sized bathrooms and excellent air conditioning. The food in the main restaurants were okay, with plenty of choice at every meal, and we found all staff to be friendly, pleasant and hardworking. Our daughter has coeliac disease and the front of house staff at both restaurants were very helpful in identifying which food she could eat and were also able to cook anything on request. The hotel could improve risk of cross contamination by not placing food with gluten next to gluten free food in the buffet. The rooms were cleaned daily, the resort was kept very clean throughout our stay (although some of the pools had scum lines which could easily be cleaned), and we never had any difficulty finding a sunbed by the pool or a table at meal times. As many other reviews have mentioned, the flies were a major issue, particularly in the outdoor Athena restaurant where they were constantly on and in the buffet food. I noticed what appears to be a sewage treatment plant nearby on Google Maps, so I'm not sure if that contributes to the problem, but likely the cause of the strange smell constantly in the air. Fortunately, this wasn't an issue in the Thalassa restaurant, which is indoors and air-conditioned. We were very disappointed that there wasn't a welcome pack in the room, just a resort map and restaurant opening times given to you on arrival. It really shouldn't be much effort to provide a simple information pack for each room, as you had to go along and work things out day by day, which think might have addresses some of the pitfalls. The selection of pool snacks was very limited, and the minibar was only replenished twice during our seven-night stay. We also found it disappointing that drinks at the beach bar were not included in our all inclusive and all spirits were watered down. I don't know how hotels get away with this. The hotel is quite remote with no restaurants or bars within walking distance. Rhodes old town is only 15 mins north, but stay away from the local bus service. We waited 40 mins for two nights in a row and buses drove past our bus stop as they were full having departed from Falaraki. Taxi is the best option, but suggest you book in advance. Lindos is a great place to visit by boat or coach. The water park is nearby and only 5 mins south. My tip would be to get there for 10am and you'll basically have the water park to yourselves for an hour. Overall, I would be hard pressed to recommend this hotel, but I the stunning views are certainly the main attraction and if you can put up with the flies, you will likely have a fantastic time.
Location is good, view is lovely, rooms outdated, but clean which is the most important Pool is dirty, complained already twice, whereafter they cleaned only once in the 10 days we are here now (but not vacuumcleaned) Cleaning of tables on the terrace can be better as well as placing fly traps as there are too many flies. Animation team is nice and friendly as well as bar staff. Food is “ok’’
Overall good experience, special shout out to animation team who put in a lot of effort to deliver guests a wonderful time.
Absolutely fantastic place the entertainment team made the holiday we all had such an amazing time here
We had a great experience at Kalithea. I must say the highlight was the animation team, every single one of them was brilliant and the team leader was amazing. They were very friendly and worked extremely hard to show us a great time. I would recommend this hotel just for the animation team. The one down side was there was an issue with flies, I think there was an infestation but they were working hard to remedy it. Other than that great pools, food and so many different things to do.
