Lindos Royal

I’ll start by saying we had a window of time after moving house and didn’t want to go far and got a last minute deal from Jet2 to this hotel a few weeks before departure. We figured that as it was 5* rated so what if it had a few bad reviews it would be ok. It was not ok! The reality is this, a 5 star has water in the rooms every night, a 5 star has drinkable drinks at the bar, a 5 star has bathroom doors with handles not broken springs and broken plastic, a five star has a bathroom with a shower screen/door - both rooms we were in had nothing and no bath mats provided either (wtf??) - you would expect plug sockets by the bed but nope, a plug that fits the plug hole in the bath and a shower attachment that works as well as complimentary use of a safe. You would expect more than one very shabby quality pillow per person also. A 5 star doesn’t have a bar area that stinks so bad you can’t sit there. For gods sake close that calypso bar - it’s gross! We changed rooms as the first room was what you’d expect in a hostel or prison - the second room was better but still grim and by no means a 5 star room. At this point however we figured that we’d suck it up as we would not be spending much time in the room other than to sleep and we had asked for extra pillows which they did provide. It seems everyone we spoke to had a problem or had to change rooms. Reception were constantly dealing with unhappy guests - the pool areas were designed by someone that gets off on broken bones, the floor tiles when wet were like black ice, lots of falls and honestly not relaxing for parents with young kids, bits of pool were breaking off and the water leaked onto the paths. How they haven’t been sued for a fall or slip is beyond me. Walking to the bar people looked like grannies on ice 😬 Calypso bar stinks like a sewer all day long and is a dirty waterlogged mess. Other than the stink hole Calypso bar, the pool bar is the only area where you can get your all inclusive drinks - they are all unbranded huge bottles of barely drinkable rubbish. Cheap nasty cocktails. Poor ingredients = poor drinks! Served in plastic or paper cups. If you’re at any of the kids pools and you and the kids want water or a drink then you either pay for drinks at the nearby shop or walk across slippery death trap tiles to the pool or calypso bar for a grim drink or paper cup of water. Greece is famous for its coffee - especially iced coffee - but you can’t get a single iced frappe or iced coffee here - in fact the coffee is disgusting. Ivan at reception is superb and truly is too good for this place - he should be at an Ikos - he’s holding the show together from a customer point of view in my opinion. And if he can handle this hellhole then he can handle anything - huge resilience and positive attitude. He would be a huge asset to a real 5 star resort. The buffet is ok but nothing amazing - they’d do well to focus more on Greek produce and dishes. The wine and beer in the buffet sadly is not drinkable at all. Rhodes is lovely and we are fortunate to have the means to go out and escape the place for days and evenings but I would 100% avoid this place if you can. There is nothing authentic about it and half of it needs demolishing while they sort out the rest to a half decent standard. I’m also worried they’re dumping sewerage from the hotel directly into the little private bay - looks to be the case as there is a waste pipe from the top with green sludge, in which case the hotel is destroying one of the very few positive assets it has! Absolutely not a 5 star - not in a month of Sundays! Not even a 3 star!

This is my third year enjoying the great atmosphere, stunning views, wonderful beach, huge swimming pools, luscious food and dessert at the Lindos Royal Resort with my two children and husband. We had an amazing time .We stayed at the sea view rooms and our room was very tidy daily. Everything is well organised. Thank you to all the staff who are super friendly and to Valasia the manager who always ensures that a few of our kids requests are met such as extra pillows, extra duvets or warm water. Valasia is extremely professional, very friendly and goes above and beyond to make guests feel at home. She also hastily made a birthday(my husband) cake delivered to our room due to my last min request which was super cute. My family and I had a fabulous time for a week. We intend to go back next year.

We had a fantastic time at the resort! Staff were wonderful! The food was nice. The entertainment team and kids club staff were very friendly and fun! They went out of their way to make everybody’s holiday fun and exciting! Thank you to Lucie, Ona, Alina and Melanie. They made a big effort with us all. I would also like to mention Cindy from the calypso she was fantastic with my daughter who has additional needs. She really was so great with her and all of us as a family. The downside to the holiday which was a fairly big one! Was that we had no air con the whole of our stay! I think we complained about 8 times at reception. We were told to go back to our room and wait for a manager multiple times but nobody turned up. We requested more fans… as it was obviously an issue that they was a where of as a fan was already in the room. But the junior suite has two rooms so we needed two fans! They advised us that there were none available. The aircon screen was smashed so it could not be used! This was really frustrating as at the time of our stay Rhodes was in a yellow wheather warning for the temperature.

We stayed at Lindos Royal as a family of four. We had a lovely holiday overall – the views are beautiful, the staff friendly and the food was very good – but we all agreed this is more of a 3-star plus hotel than a 5-star. Our sea-view room was pleasant, but lacked some basics you'd expect at this level. There were only two balcony chairs for four guests, five hangers, no drawers and very little bathroom storage. There's no kettle or tea/coffee facilities – you can hire a kettle, but at an extra cost. The safe is also €25, and you have to pay for an airer to dry towels/swimwear. Our bottled water was supposed to be replenished daily but wasn't replaced once during our stay. The biggest letdown – the all-inclusive drinks There are no premium/branded spirits, and although the beer was drinkable, we found the spirits and soft drinks really poor. I couldn't drink the vodka at all and ended up buying a 70cl bottle of Smirnoff from the hotel shop for €26.50, plus Diet Coke. There's also no bottled water readily available – you fill small plastic cups from the dispenser. Definitely bring a Stanley or reusable insulated bottle and ask for ice, especially for the beach. If you like branded alcohol, I'd recommend buying it at the airport before you arrive. The food, however, was lovely. We ate at the Asian à la carte restaurant and it was genuinely very worth while. Unfortunately, despite being all-inclusive, you still have to pay for drinks in the à la carte restaurants – around €6.50 for a Corona or glass of wine. The beach is lovely and the views are beautiful, although it's a steep walk back up to the hotel. The pools are quite small for the size of the hotel and the water park has around six slides, which are good for younger children. Lindos is definitely worth visiting and costs around €15 each way by taxi. There isn't much immediately around the hotel apart from a couple of supermarkets around a 5 minute walk away. One final tip – late flights If you want to keep your room after check-out, we were quoted €15 per additional hour, or €15 to hire a room for one hour to shower and get ready. We didn't bother – we'd befriended some lovely people, so we managed between ourselves. Overall: 3-star plus We enjoyed our holiday and can't fault the food, friendly staff, beach or beautiful views. But there are simply too many extras and missing basics for a hotel advertised as 5-star all-inclusive. It may have been a genuine 5-star hotel when first built, but it now feels tired and the offering has been depleted over the years. Would we call it 5-star? Definitely not. 3-star plus feels much more realistic.

This hotel is not a 4 or 5 star hotel. The building and facilities are tired and in significant need of repair but the real issue here is the terrible customer service and the fact they don’t care. All the tiles are falling off the swimming pools or missing or loose - there for you to tread on. The sun beds are very old and the sewage smell around the pool and bar area is horrendous. We had water pouring from the air conditioning unit - the cleaners obviously spotted it but didn’t report it - just out an old towel down to catch the water. I tried to contact reception via the phone but they don’t answer the phone - even the emergency button. When they finally came to mend the unit the plumbers left a filthy wet towel in the middle of our floor. We had no towels left in our room one day - again tried to ring reception but no answer - when we finally found someone to tell they just said “well that’s because we have run out”. I asked for an iron - I was told they weren’t allowed due to health and safety - and then I saw they were selling them in the hotel shop! When I challenged reception - they sent up an iron in a carrier bag filled with water so the plug and wire was soaking wet. The door keys failed numerous times, there are wires hanging from the ceiling and protruding from the walls. I could go on. The biggest issue is this just isn’t what it claims to be. If it said it was three star and charged as a three star that would be acceptable but I feel conned and robbed of a lot of money.
