TUI BLUE Flamingo Beach

Although this hotel was advertised as a 4-star hotel, I understand that its official rating is only 2 stars. I would therefore like to understand how TUI has awarded it a 4-star rating. When we arrived at the hotel, we were kept waiting in a queue for approximately 45 minutes just to receive our room key. When we eventually made our way to the room, my wife was confused as we had to cross a road to get there. We were not aware that this was still considered part of the hotel complex. On entering the room, we immediately found two cockroaches on the beds. We later found cockroach spray underneath the sink, which suggested that there was already an issue with cockroaches in the room. The room itself was also very untidy and clearly in need of repairs, when moving a maintenance person was in the room, making repairs. The location of the room was particularly disappointing. It was separated from the main part of the hotel and felt more like something from a budget holiday camp than a 4-star resort. The following morning, we spoke to the TUI representative and also reported our concerns through the TUI website. Later that afternoon, we were offered another room. We appreciated being moved, as we had made it clear that we could not stay in the original room. The second room was in a much better location, but unfortunately it was also dirty and in need of repairs. For example, one of the plug sockets appeared to have been repaired using plaster. There were several other issues with the room, which we photographed. Hotel and Facilities The hotel is effectively split across two separate locations, which was not made particularly clear to us when booking. The hotel itself appeared very run down. The swimming pools were missing numerous tiles and, generally, the pool areas did not feel particularly clean or well maintained. Room Cleaning The room cleaning was very basic. The bathroom appeared to be mopped, but the bedroom floor was not properly swept until our final day. Beds The additional bed was advertised as a sofa bed. In reality, it was essentially a sofa with sheets placed over it and was not particularly comfortable to sleep on. Drinks On two evenings, the beer pumps were not working and there was no alternative available. This was particularly disappointing as beer is the only alcoholic drink I normally have. On several other occasions, the hotel had run out of mint for Mojitos, which was another disappointment. Overall, we were extremely disappointed with the standard of the accommodation and facilities compared with what we had expected from a hotel advertised by TUI as 4-star.

We have just come back from 10nights at the flamingo and it was fantastic!! The area was a little built up with hotels on the transfer but where isn't these days but once we got to our hotel (late at night) the reception staff were helpful and welcoming. We could even head to the restaurant (after hours) to get a bite to eat. We were welcomed to the room with a bottle of wine which was a nice touch. The hotel itself is slightly dated but it is clean and tidy and all staff helpful and kind Bedding and towels changed 5 times a week and room cleaned as well. Only negative regarding the room was the front door could be opened very easily we have a 5 year old and we're worried he may just wonder out so maybe a latch put higher up the door so curious kids can't wonder straight out, but other than that room was decent. We were right on the beach front and to wake every morning to the sun rise and sea was lovely (30c room number) Few little restaurants there and two reasonable prices supermarkets right there. Food was lovely a wide variety of foods catering to everyone's taste. We didn't go to the main restaurant for any of our lunches so can't comment on that the pool snack bar did the trick but brekkie and dinner was lovely and different night had different themes. Drinks were good too lots of choice and some mocktails for the kids too (Try the blue Hawaii if you can but not too many...) The local water was good but can do it all in a few hours (whole day not needed) Check times as cheaper after certain time of day. The pool was fun and big and we didn't have any issue getting beds no matter what time we went down. The have foam parties,aqua aerobics, kids & adult water polo (MVP) and a range of other little pool side games as well the winners get taken on stage at the end of the evening to get certificates. They also have football games as well which was decent. That brings me onto the entertainment and night. It was good and the kids loved it with games and dancing for them, then and outside evening entertainer and a quiz (need a mobile to play) it was decent every night. The entertainment team out there were second to none, they continuously worked hard and involved everyone they were absolutely superb.... Few to mention Danny, murial, Erik, Mikey were outstanding and I beat both Erik and Danny in football and water polo!! All in all we had a great time and it is high upon the list for return next year. Paul,Zoe ,Ellis(8) & Jack (5)

Our second visit in 2 years to Tui Blue Flamingo Beach! First off, if you’re wanting a great family holiday for your kids to make amazing memories then this is the place for you. Kids to care about 4/5 star facilities, high end dining etc, they just want to have fun and love every second. That’s what you get at Flamingo Beach. We stayed 2 years ago with a then 4 & 8 year old and returned with our now 6 & 10 year old. It was like they never left. The food - always something different, whether you like the themed Mexican, Desert, Canarian, Italian or Seafood themed nights or just fancied some pizza and pasta! During our stay there must’ve been atleast 50-60 different fish, meat, dishes aswell as so much local cuisine. Lots to offer adventurous or fussy eating kids with pizza, pasta, nuggets, fish fingers, chips. Anti pasti galore for those not wanting a huge breakfast, lunch or dinner. Accommodation - sea view apartment with a view, what more can you ask for. You’re not straying in a 5 star resort but also it’s a Lanzarote hotel, the paint isn’t pristine with fine lines perfectly coating each wall and tile floor that been hand crafted - but that’s the beautiful rustic thing about Lanzarote and its feel it gives off. That’s what we love about it. That aside the rooms are spacious, clean and tidy, as is the whole site, that’s all that matters! Entertainment - it’s Tui Blue, it’s for kids, so the entertainment is brilliant for those age groups - but the teens soon forget that around the pool, put their phones down and remember what it’s like to ‘play’. The Tui Blue entertainment teams are again, simply amazing, they clearly love their job and it shows. Big shout out to Mikey (good luck in Menorca), Erik, Danny, Emilia & Lauren. Remember a holiday with the kids is all about enjoying your time, not finding fault in the little things - if you cherish watching your kids live their best life this is the hotel for you!

Great relaxing break away just what the doctor ordered , check in and out very easy , we asked for low apartments due to mobility issues of parents and were given 2 ground floor apartments at quiet pool . Rooms are a wee bit dated however they were absolutely spotless ...rooms cleaned every day bar one and when we asked for towels the boy said give him 20 mins and back he came having gone to the main building to get some . Pool was easy to get sunbeds no putting towels out at stupid o'clock, pool area spotless and life guard there at all times . Snack bar and pool bar located bang in the middle of the complex and had likes of pizza , burgers , hit dogs , salads , ice cream etc plus wee bar for drinks . Restaurant I have to say was excellent as other reviews left us apprehensive however it was great plenty of choice , carvery every night , theme nights , all the food was lovely and also warm . Bar again was great , beer pump was off one evening however other than that it was excellent , entertainment was mainly aimed at kids but after 9 some good shows . Beach is right on the doorstep with a lovely beach bar at the end, flamingo inn was great for drinks and also football and live singers , taverna was lovely for the 1 night you get as part of all inclusive package . Taxi to rubicon marina for market can be booked at reception and only cost 6 euro , there is a taxi stance across from where you are dropped off on way back . We did the half day timanfaya excursion which is breathtaking and best excursion I have ever done it really is a must . All in all a lovely relaxing break , yes the resort has wee niggles which you will find anywhere if you look hard enough but in our view it is well worth the money . Ignore the negative reviews I am glad we did honestly on reading some of them it felt like we were in a different hotel .

I stayed at Flamingo for 14 nights in August. I have my review below. Mind you, we were so disappointed we actually booked 4 nights away from the hotel as we felt so let down we had to get away to try and save our honeymoon. Hotel This hotel is officially a 2-star hotel! The fact TUI class it as a 4-star is something that is actually close to being disingenuous. It's far too big for its own good and that's the problem. You have to put towels down early if you want a chance to get near the pool, as it's too small to accommodate the people. The restaurant can get full and you have to hunt for tables at times. It has good access to a good beach with a few bars, restaurants and supermarkets, but to get a good selection you have to walk 15 minutes down the road. To the left and right of this hotel are 4-star hotels and when you walk past them, you will be gutted that you are in this hotel, especially if you were led to believe it was 4-star quality. Room The room was not that good, was ok, but we had serious issues that affected our stay. Sheets and pillow covers weren't clean (look at the staff section to see full breakdown). We had regular power cuts that affected some of our meals as they couldn't serve us and would mean electricity would come off and on during the night, meaning beeps waking us up. The door has a ridiculous locking system, which is just a push switch, and after our children got out on the first night, me and my new wife had to sleep on the single sofa beds in the front room as we didn't feel it was safe for our children to be able to freely get out the room. The door goes straight onto the balcony where we were, so it wasn't a case of them getting out into the corridor; they could get straight out into the outside. Also, on the 3rd night, while I pushed the heavy sofas together, I hurt my back. They weren't comfortable and to not have pull-out double sofa beds is a strange option. The outside and interior had signs of wear and are not of a state you would expect a 4-star as TUI recommends. You are welcomed with a bottle of water, but that will be it. You have to either fill that up or buy water. They will not keep making drinking water available to your room even if you're all-inclusive. Staff Reception staff were awful. On our 3rd night, we actually had an argument about whether to just go home, as we felt so miserable being in this hotel because the reception staff didn't make us feel welcome. We had a 6-hour argument because we needed new pillows for our children one night, which the staff hung up twice on us. All we were asking for was 4 new pillowcases! Another day, we had a problem because we wanted clean bathroom towels, where we were told they weren't available until the next day or so. Again, I have never been told I can't have clean towels or bedding on request. On the 3rd night, the water machine wasn't working on the bar, the restaurant was shut and when I went to reception to ask for some water, I was told to buy some, and they got extremely annoyed with me when I told them I had paid for all-inclusive and should have the right to get water for me and my family. It was after this that we went round other hotels trying to find rooms we could afford and eventually finding somewhere else to go for 4 nights to just get away, as we felt the whole area we were in was tainted. The actual cleaners, restaurant staff and entertainment staff were really nice and kind. They worked hard to make sure you were happy, and it's just a shame we were so let down by the main staff you deal with. Food and drinks For a week, the food is ok; for 2, it's repetitive. I would say 70% of the food here is the same every day: salad, pizza, pasta, chips, etc., with a selection of food alternating for other days. I would not recommend if you have eating disorders or cannot eat pork for religious purposes. My wife's Muslim and twice ate pork as it was not properly labelled. There were also other people complaining to chefs about not being able to tell gluten-free food or food with different allergens in. I would make sure you eat during busy times, as when it gets quiet, the cockroaches start coming out, especially when sitting close to the walls. We go to Africa a few times a year, so we are used to it, but they clearly have an infestation, and if that thing can freak you out, just be aware. The cocktails are super rubbish. You can always tell an all-inclusive by their cocktails. We were technically at the hotel for 9 days, and finding grenadine and mint was tough. Plus, they would put a bit of alcohol in, then pass it over to you to put Sprite or fizzy in. Felt really cheap and lazy. We ended up sticking to beer, unfortunately. Local area There is a good waterpark 10 minutes' walk away, a local supermarket by the beach, 3 or 4 restaurants and a few bars, but anything else is a 15-minute walk past the harbour to the town. It's still nice, would be even nicer if the hotel quality meant you didn't want to leave. Evaluation. We were so disappointed with this place. I think the main part was that I spent my honeymoon having to sleep separately from my wife and the fact that, for the first time in my life, I actually spent a day looking at flights and other hotels trying to get away. We only booked this as TUI was selling this as a 4-star recommended hotel. We would never have gone here if we knew the true rating, as we do only stay at 4/5-star hotels. There were people we met from France and Belgium who didn't get sold this place as a 4-star, so it's strange why British people got it sold as that. We even met a family who had come here for the 3rd time and told us they would never come back, as the quality has deteriorated so badly. Look, it's not a 2-star, it's a 3-star. If you do 3-star hotels like simple English breakfast, pizza and pasta and burgers, sun and beer, you will like it. If you like nice fish and meat, cocktails and a luxurious feel, go elsewhere. It seems everyone I met here said they would never come back, and neither will we.
