ADRIAN Hotels Roca Nivaria

My family and I visit Roca Nivaria every few years as we love Tenerife, and I have left a review the last few times, so I'll bullet-point this one! Good points: - The entertainment on offer was decent and the magician was our personal favourite, however I will admit that the musicians at the Hard Rock Hotel are far better. - There were always plenty of beds to use around the pool, it wasn't too busy, and the pools/surrounding areas were always very clean. - The reception staff were welcoming and accommodating, even going to the effort of getting some milk for us when we'd run out and couldn't get to the shop in time. - The atmosphere inside the hotel was peaceful and relaxing. - The location of the hotel itself is ideal as it isn't heaving with tourists but is close enough to necessary shops and other hotels, restaurants, and tourist attractions that you don't feel you're missing out. - We had to swap our room as it wasn't up to the standard we had expected, however this was done without any fuss and we changed to our new room the day after we arrived. It was spacious, very clean and well kept, and we had a lovely sea view. - The hotel staff left a kind note and a free bottle of sparkling wine for my husband to celebrate his birthday. We unfortunately don't drink this and ended up leaving it for the maid as a gift, but we really appreciated the generosity! - The bar staff were highly attentive and quick to bring our drinks every evening, and all were very friendly and welcoming. Areas for improvement: - The upper pool (saltwater) used to be for children and those wanting to use inflatable rings etc, while the lower pool (chlorine) was for adults wanting to swim. Instead, both pools were being used for this, and so we regularly had to stop our swimming sessions because we were constantly interrupted by various children and adults with balls, rings, and one child even had a small remote-controlled boat that he was driving around the pool! - The hotel Wi-Fi was poor in pretty much all areas, at all times. - The restaurant staff were often very slow to take drinks orders and requests for coffee in the morning. My husband and I also unfortunately had our drinks taken away and our table reset during dinner one evening after we had gotten up for dessert, much to our surprise, however, the waiters profusely apologised and gave us free water which we appreciated. - The food in the restaurants is hit and miss. Some food items are quite nice, like pastries at breakfast or meats at dinner, and I enjoyed the themed food, however there definitely could've been more variety on offer. - Some food items, particularly the pancakes at breakfast, sit under the heat lamp for a long time and become hard and chewy. The milk is also WAY too warm, including the room where we had to buy fresh milk three times because the fridge isn't cold enough. - The gym isn't properly air-conditioned (there are controls on the wall but they don't work) and it is often far too hot. There are also no towels nor any fresh water machines nearby. These are very basic necessities when it comes to a gym. I also wanted to mention an experience I had with a member of the staff in the spa that made me uncomfortable. She came into the gym while I was working out, (she was quite short, had brunette hair in a bun, a green top and pants), and immediately started questioning me about whether I was a client of the hotel and whether I had my key card. I have never taken my key card to that gym, largely because I'm forgetful, but also because I have never needed it as I tend to walk through the spa door and into the gym that way. I didn't even see there was a card scanner on the other door until this happened. She spoke to me in Spanish and I couldn't understand her at first, so a nearby Spanish gentleman helped me out. When I found out what she was asking me, I told her yes, I was staying there but didn't have my card. She then glanced over at the gentleman and despite the fact she did NOT ask him the same question, he quickly told her he and his wife (nearby) were also guests. She glanced over to the remaining person on the treadmill and then walked out. I don't expect to be confronted like that when I'm trying to enjoy my time on holiday. I wouldn't have minded if she'd spoken to everyone else in the same way, but she was polite to everyone except me. I'm not sure whether she simply didn't think I fit in because I'm not Spanish, or whether she thought I was too young to be in there perhaps, but I felt very awkward. All in all, we had a lovely, much-needed stay and it was, for the most part, a relaxing one. There are indeed areas for improvement but certainly nothing that would prevent us from returning! We look forward to coming back in the future.

Vert kind service/workers, poor buffet for dinner and breakfast (always the same)… cleaning had to be re/done after request (forgotten / dusty),small animation programm, rules are not there to be applied (ice cream in pool, not covered-eating on pool restaurant, smoking in non/smoking areas,etc…) , child area lttle and swimmingpools allowed to play not child-adapted…(just inveres the rules of the 2 bis pools) Not a 5star Hotel… very disappointed.

Hi Amazing hotel! Staff were fantastic at accommodating our vegetarian and vegan dietary requirements. Food plays such a big part of a holiday and we truly ate to our hearts content. We chose the hotel as it was recommended on so many forums for vegan food and it's the first place we have been to (and we are well travelled globally) where the buffet had a dedicated vegan section. The food was tasty and it was great to have items such as tofu, seitan, soya meatballs so we were still getting our protein as well as amazing desserts! We had vegan croissants, scrambled tofu and pancakes prepared for us and everything was labelled. It was also great that vegan food was prepared separately to meat and fish. The rooms were lovely, lots of pools to choose from and we liked that there was no reserving pool loungers rue which kept things fair. The water park at the hotel was great as was the spa and the children in particular enjoyed having a massage at the spa. We would highly recommended and we will certainly go back again!

We had a very enjoyable stay at Roca Nivaria overall and would definitely recommend the hotel. The property itself is excellent, and our room was absolutely wonderful, with a beautiful ocean view. Breakfast was excellent, with a great selection and very good quality. Dinner offered plenty of choice as well, although we felt that the overall quality was more average and could be improved to better match the standard of a five-star hotel. Unfortunately, our arrival experience was the only part of our stay that left us genuinely disappointed. We arrived at around 2:30 pm by car and temporarily parked near the hotel entrance while checking in. At reception, we were told that we should not leave the car there, although a few minutes would be fine. When a bus arrived, we were asked to move the car and were told that the hotel parking was located on the side of the property. As we did not understand exactly where the entrance to the hotel parking was, we eventually left the car in the parking area next to the hotel. Only afterwards, when we mentioned this at reception, were we told that this was a paid public parking area and that we would have to pay for it. When we asked again where the hotel parking was, the receptionist showed us its location on a map, but we were given no access instructions and no practical assistance with how to enter it. My husband ended up walking around trying to find the parking and understand how to access it. Normally this might have been a relatively minor inconvenience, but after travelling all night without sleep, we were exhausted. At a five-star hotel, we expected a little more assistance upon arrival rather than having to figure everything out ourselves. At check-in, we were also informed that our room was not yet ready and that we could wait inside the hotel. We sat on the terrace and were immediately offered a welcome drink, which was a lovely touch and something we really appreciated. However, by around 4:00 pm, having received no further information, my husband went back to reception to ask whether our room was ready. It turned out that the room was already available, but unfortunately nobody had informed us. We had simply been forgotten. This combination of events made our arrival feel surprisingly cold and unwelcoming. We have rarely experienced such an impersonal reception, particularly at a hotel of this level, and it genuinely affected our impression during the first days of our stay. That said, we would like to make an important distinction: apart from our experience with reception, the hotel staff were wonderful. They deserve our sincere respect and gratitude for their professionalism, kindness and hard work. Overall, Roca Nivaria is a beautiful hotel that we would recommend. We had a lovely room, stunning ocean views and a very pleasant stay. We only wish that our arrival had reflected the same level of hospitality that we experienced throughout the rest of the hotel.

We came for a week all inclusive with our 2 children and had a great time! The baby club takes children from 10 months-3 and my 3yr old had a great time there. There is no charge but you have to book through the app to guarantee a spot. My 7yr old really enjoyed the kids club too and they got taken to the pool one afternoon to play there which she loved. The pools are all fab however it’s worth noting that large inflatables aren’t allowed in the heated infinity pool and the lifeguard is quick to whistle you if he spots one! But they’re allowed in the other 2 pools so it wasn’t a big deal. Buffet was great but found the choices in the al le carte a bit limited however we still had a lovely meal there. The lift down to the beach was a great find and the snorkelling was good! Would definitely recommend this hotel and felt very welcome from the staff and had a good balance of fun stuff going on at the kids pool or have a quieter time at the other pools.
