GF Gran Costa Adeje

Stayed at this hotel for the first time. We usually stay at GF Victoria. However, given the refurbishment we thought we’d try this hotel. I have to say it was just average and not 5* Arrived at the hotel. No porter waiting to greet to you. Left to wonder in to hotel to find reception. Not massively welcoming. Didn’t ask if we had a good flight etc. Went to the pool - rammed. But ok it was lunch time when we arrived. Managed to find a couple of sunbeds and move them together ( no help to do this) Next morning sunbed wars start. Despite me emailing the hotel to ask if this was a problem as I had read reviews about this, they told me you can’t reserve beds… that was a lie. People reserve beds! Some people are out when it’s still dark. Pool staff only come round at 9 to remove anything. So we spent most of the week not eating as a family so we could have a sunbed. Highly disappointing. We couldn’t even go out for a morning walk or we’d lose are beds. GF Victoria are far superior on this and ban anyone going to the pool before 9.30am Drinks by the pool just your average all inclusive as was lunch. No one cleared cups from your beds during the day. Now for the real bad stuff. Someone smoking in the room next door to us… not your normal cigarettes smoke shall we say!! This came in to our room when door was open. Told reception who would investigate. Never heard from the again but smoke continued until my husband had a word with the room. This smoke carried on by the kids pool. I mean who smokes weed round a kids pool. Utterly disgraceful. Also I suspect my sunglasses have been stolen from the room (out my drawer) Have contacted hotel about this. Got a slower than usual response and when I tell you the email could not care less it’s unbelievable and disappointing. The only positive is my daughter loved the pools. Good sizes. Good temperature. Easy access to kids slides as well. Refurbished rooms are also lovely. Pool area needs some TLC in areas. Unfortunately, we won’t go back to this hotel. We’ve been going to Tenerife for 10 years and this is the first time I’ve thought that. Even on check out they didn’t ask about our stay nor wish us a safe flight.

stayed here with my sister, who had previously stayed at the hotel two years ago, before the refurbishment. She had such an amazing experience last time that we were both really excited to come together. Unfortunately, this visit was a huge disappointment and certainly didn’t feel like the five-star experience we had expected. On arrival, the staff were pleasant and helpful and our bags were taken to our room. The room itself was large with plenty of storage, although my sister felt that the rooms were actually much nicer during her previous stay. Unfortunately, we were placed between two families and the noise at night was terrible. We could hear constant talking and furniture being moved, and at around 1am my sister eventually had to knock on their doors and ask them to keep the noise down. It made getting a good night’s sleep extremely difficult. We also found two cockroaches in our room during our stay. We reported this to the hotel and were told that someone would be sent up to investigate, but this was obviously very unpleasant and not something you expect in a five-star hotel. Our biggest disappointment, however, was the food. For a hotel of this rating, we expected a much higher standard. The food was incredibly repetitive, pork seemed to feature most nights, dishes were often only lukewarm, and we even found hairs in the salads. We were so disappointed with the quality that we ended up eating out for most of the week. I have genuinely had much better food and dining experiences in three-star hotels. There were also little things that took away from the experience. There were no self-service tea or coffee machines and we had to ask for drinks. Instead of having physical menus available, we had to carry our phones around and scan QR codes to see them, which we found inconvenient and certainly didn’t add to the feeling of being in a five-star resort. We were also surprised to discover that not everything was included within the all-inclusive package, with additional charges for certain food and drinks. The highlight for me was the adults-only rooftop pool, which was a lovely area and somewhere we enjoyed spending time. However, even this didn’t open until 10am, which felt quite late when you’re on holiday and want to enjoy the pool in the morning. What makes this particularly disappointing is that my sister had spoken so highly of this hotel following her previous visit. We also spoke to other guests during our stay, including people who had returned year after year, who told us that they too felt the standards had declined and that they would not be returning. There is so much potential here and it could be a wonderful hotel, but sadly our experience did not live up to its five-star rating or our expectations. Unfortunately, I definitely wouldn’t return.

Just returned from a weeks stay with my mum and 2 children. My first reaction i was a little disappointed, just little things such as our room smelt of food , had ants , no water, wrong name on the welcome message on the tv. To make matters worse we had a small lie in on our first morning then went to the pool and found it impossible to get a sun bed so we went around to the splash pool for the majority of the day until some came available around the main pool later on. After that i realised if you can't beat them join them , so the next day i got up earlier and waited on the beds until my family were ready to join me and that's what i did for the rest of the week. Unfortunately not quite the relaxing 5 star experience i was hoping to get. As the week went on we enjoyed it a lot more. Pools were large not too crowded and lots on to keep the kids busy. Also happy with the pool temperature they were lovely and refreshing. Breakfast is very good something for everyone. Evening meal not so good. Food seemed low quality and very canteen like. Rooms were lovely and clean , housekeeping were very efficient and friendly and we slept really well as found the beds really comfortable. Shower products included however me and my daughter have long hair and the shampoo and conditioner was terrible and knotted our hair so bad. Lucky we had brought some with us. Evening entertainment was good , we found all the staff lovely and they were quick to bring drinks over around the bar. The whole hotel was spotless and we really enjoyed our stay however feel it more reflects a decent 4 star hotel. I would return however the hotel is a little out the way if anyone has mobility issues although taxis are reasonably priced.

We stayed at GF Gran Costa Adeje with fairly high expectations given its 5-star rating, but unfortunately, we left feeling that the rating really needs reviewed. It’s not a terrible hotel by any means, but compared with other genuine 5-star hotels we’ve stayed in, the experience simply isn’t on the same level. Arrival & Rooms On arrival, we weren’t really given any information about the hotel — no proper explanation of breakfast, kids’ club, facilities, entertainment, etc. We were basically handed the keys and left to figure it out ourselves. I’ll give an exception for the kind gent who took our bags. The rooms are average. Housekeeping was good in terms of cleaning, fresh bedding and towels, but our tea and coffee station wasn’t replenished throughout the week. A small thing perhaps, but again, we’re talking about a supposed 5-star hotel. Food & Drinks There is one main option for dinner — the buffet. We ate out every evening, so I can’t fairly comment on the dinner food. At the kids’ slide pool there is a small burger stand selling burgers and chips. It’s fine for what it is. The main poolside restaurant is also very average — pizza, burgers, chips and pasta. Nothing particularly memorable. One strange thing was the lack of consistency with drink prices. We ordered the same drinks on different days and somehow managed to pay different prices! Drinks are also served in the same basic plastic cups, which makes the whole experience feel much more like an all-inclusive resort than a luxury 5-star hotel. There is ONE main pool bar and absolutely no table or lounger service. So if your lounger is at the opposite end of the pool, congratulations — you’ve just added a little cardio session every time you fancy a drink. And don’t expect anyone to clear your poolside table either. Cups accumulated throughout the day and we regularly found ourselves hunting for bins to clear them ourselves. I will give a special mention to the lovely lady in the little poolside shop — always pleasant, and you can pick up crisps, snacks and pool accessories there. Breakfast Breakfast is very average. There’s no real table service apart from someone eventually offering tea or coffee. For the first part of our stay, getting a cup of tea felt like trying to catch the attention of someone across a busy airport terminal. 😂 To be fair, the tea service did improve as the week went on — but I wouldn’t get too excited about the possibility of cup number two! And then… the pool situation. This was easily the most disappointing part of our stay. The hotel has a policy stating that loungers cannot be reserved. Great in theory. In reality? By around 10am, you could struggle to find a lounger anywhere. Guests clearly knew the drill and were down early sitting on or claiming loungers. It genuinely felt as though there simply weren’t enough loungers for the number of guests staying at the hotel. For THREE days we ended up sitting at the children’s slide pool because we couldn’t get loungers at the main pool. Great fun for the kids — not quite so much for the adults. The slide pool isn’t really a swimming pool, so if you’re roasting and want to jump in for a quick cool-down, you can’t. You basically just sit there… roasting. 😂 To make matters better, the little burger stand there sells beer and soft drinks, but if you fancy a cocktail or anything else, it’s time for another expedition across the hotel to the main pool bar and then allllll the way back again. Poolside luxury this is not. Entertainment & Staff Now for some credit where credit is due! When we FINALLY managed to secure the holy grail that is a lounger at the main pool 😂, we actually got to experience the daytime entertainment properly — and the entertainment team are FAB! They really interact with the guests, get everyone involved and create a bit of fun around the pool. We had a good laugh with them and they genuinely seemed enthusiastic and happy to be there. Well done to the entertainment team — definitely one of the highlights of our stay! The evening entertainment actually wasn’t too bad, but it takes place in the hotel lobby, which doesn’t create the most comfortable or atmospheric evening setting. Again, there is no table service, so you head to the bar yourself for drinks. The staff generally seemed overworked, which may explain why so many appeared unhappy. Across our entire stay, I could probably count on one hand the number of staff members who genuinely smiled or interacted warmly with us. Service is such a huge part of a 5-star experience, and unfortunately it was noticeably lacking here. Would we return? Probably not. We stayed at another 5-star hotel the previous year and the difference was enormous — cabanas, proper poolside and table service, five restaurants, plenty of loungers, comfortable entertainment areas and generally a much higher standard of hospitality. Perhaps having such a good experience previously made the shortcomings here even more noticeable, but when two hotels are being marketed at the same star level, naturally you compare them. GF Gran Costa Adeje isn’t an awful hotel. We still had a holiday and enjoyed our time together. But if I’m reviewing the hotel and the experience we actually paid for, I genuinely cannot call this 5-star. It feels much closer to a decent 3/4-star resort. The biggest issue is that the 5-star rating creates 5-star expectations, and unfortunately the service, facilities and overall experience simply didn’t meet them. Sorry GF Gran Costa Adeje — ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ it was not.

2nd visit. Last came Feb 2022. Was a good deal with Jet2 and I was aware there had been some refurbishment since I last came here and I remember liking the big pools so thought we would come back. All the staff I’ve encountered have been great. Friendly and helpful. The rooms are much nicer than before. Very modern and we got a turn down service most nights and towels replenished twice a day. Cleaned to a high standard. The food was actually pretty good. Options cooked fresh for you each night and great salad bar and cheese selection. Breakfast is really good. You can sit outside at breakfast (unlike at dinner. A shame.) which is nice because it is very canteen like. There are these screens up where staff work behind bashing cutlery etc around. V noisy so avoid those areas. Nice to sit by the windows near the pool. Get the staff to open the window for you and it’s much nicer. Operation sunbed is a bit of a nightmare. They are very strict that you can’t reserve but actually all that happens is people reserve them and leave one family member guarding them until the sunbed patrol has been completed. It’s a bit annoying as you then can’t eat breakfast together. Yet, once the sunbed patrol is complete, you could leave your sunbeds unoccupied most of the day and that’s fine! Saw two rows of sunbeds with no one on them for hours. They eventually turned up, spent half an hour on them and left! The system doesn’t work. Better to rope the area off and not open it until 9am for example. I think it also affects the cleaning around the pool area. On day 1 the sunbeds were wet indicating they had been hosed down. Never noticed this since and I did think the floor could do with a good wash and I could see litter on the floor too at times from the day before. Probably because people are on the beds before the sun rises and then the cleaning staff can’t clean round them. I couldn’t be bothered after the first day and luckily the hotel got a bit quieter and we’ve been coming down at ten and getting sunbeds. The spa is a nice addition as is the jungle bar. All in all, if you've booked this hotel, you will have a very nice time. Location is very good. Near the beach and shops etc. We were half board. Waiter service at lobby bar and terrace. Gym well equipped with Mountain View’s. We went to the News Cafe for karaoke one evening which was such a laugh. Also did a boat trip. Went to MHT drag show - it was ok. Bit old hat and food dire. The sushi pace next to the hotel was really good.
