We had a lovely stay at the Hovima Cool Hotel, and upgraded to the excellence package which I think is worth the money. Firstly, you get a mini bar restock with cans of water, fizzy drinks and beers everyday. Bottles of wine in your room on arrival, sweets, chocolates, and a gorgeous panoramic view to top it off. Secondly, the beds down by the excellence pool are very comfy and cushioned with plenty of parasols if needed. There was always beds spare so no need to rush down to reserve a bed. The area gets the sun on it from around 9am and is fully in the sun by 11am. The waiters come round on a morning with appetisers and a shot everyday. There is also fresh fruit replenished in the excellence pool bar all day and jars of crisps, nuts, olives etc to pick from. The staff in the pool bar were friendly and very chatty. There was lots of choice at breakfast and it was always replenished as soon as the trays were empty, although the food could have done with being a bit hotter but this is common with all inclusive buffet food so is understandable. If you do choose to upgrade to the excellence package, you also get a separate seating area to the normal all inclusive section and the waiters and waitresses do come round to ask for drink orders promptly. They also offer a menu at breakfast and lunch if you wanted this instead of the buffet which is another upgrade that makes it worth the money. Within the excellence package you also get 2 À La Carte meals in the Ocean Blue restaurant if you choose to do so. The food in there is amazing and the service is impeccable. You receive a glass of cava on arrival and the chefs appetiser as well as some warm bread and a 3 course meal. However, it does get busy so I recommend booking in advance if you are planning on going. The rooms are clean and spacious and offer amazing views of the surroundings. We were on floor 5 and had views of the beach, sea, mountains and pool areas. The beds were just two singles pushed together with a mattress topper to cover the gap, however they were really comfy and quite spacious. We did have an issue with the shower tending to overflow and flood the bathroom. The only thing I would recommend is bringing an extension lead as there are only 2 plug sockets in the room and these are on either sides of the bed. The main pool does not get the sun on it until around 11am but it does get busy quite quickly and a lot of people are down early to reserve the beds. The downside of this hotel is that it is made for an older adults only clientele. I wouldn’t recommend for a younger couple as there was no one our age and we seemed to be the youngest there.

Great hotel, lovely staff who were very helpful. Good location 5 mins walk from beach and 10 from marina. Food very nice and good selection of drinks too. Had minor issue with fridge on arrival which they sorted very quickly. Rooms and grounds weee spotless.

This year was our 7th visit here. It is an amazing hotel! I cannot fault the presentation, cleanliness, the amazing staff: cleaners are just lovely, the bar abd restaurant staff are so friendly (especially Noor and Pancho on the main bar and Juan Carlos and Anthony in the restaurant), and Ainara in Customer services who cannot do enough for you. The animation team (all new except one) are good but not as chatty or friendly as the previous ones, which is a shame. I do have ongoing issues with the serving spoons being left on platters in the front of the hotplates. As a coeliac, the hotel do go out of their way to label all foods, however, cross contamination occurs as people pick up any spoon abd dip into one dish then another, and another, meaning food is transferred from one dish to another. I have to try and get intp the restaurant fist at all sittings to try and reduce the risk. Please can each dish just have a spoon on it?? I missed 2 days as I was ill in bed due to cross contamination. A simple fix, which would benefit anyone with allergies or intollerences. I would also like to see GF dessert options, apart from Ice cream. I drool over the amazing array of puddings but have no options (Sad face haha). Beyond this small gripe, it is still my favoutite hotel and we are back next year for our 8th visit, and where we will be getting married. Eeek!!
