I am currently staying at this hotel and, fresh off the inspection, I’m ready to share my impressions with you. First off, the hotel truly delights with its rebirth. They are undergoing a full renovation and updating all the villas; by November 1st, you won't even recognize it. And this isn't just cosmetic—it ranges from replacing the furniture and roofs across the island to introducing eco-friendly capsule-free coffee machines and new textiles. Now, the villas are designed for pure relaxation: while the signature brightness and vibrant vibe of the hotel remain across the resort grounds, inside your room you enjoy calm tones and harmonious comfort with nothing redundant. For those worried about the disco ball in the bathroom—it’s still there, but now that everything is styled in soft cream and delicate ivory, it looks much more harmonious and won't bother those who might not be fans of it. The hanging snorkel masks behind the bed have been moved into the wardrobe. A quick tip for this hotel: opt for the beach villas. The island is so breathtakingly beautiful and lush with greenery that you can fully enjoy your vacation, privacy, and convenient access to all the island's activities. I’d like to give special mention to the SPA. The yoga and sound healing instructor, A.S., whose classes I had the pleasure to attend, simply amazed me. He has such an incredible aura and a light teaching style that you just don't want to leave after the session. You gain peace and balance, and the breathing exercises were a very interesting and novel experience that I plan to continue. The instructor himself is so friendly and pleasant that I really want to send him a warm hello. Also, upon arrival, I noticed a "baby island" right across from the main island. As it turns out, starting November 1st, it will feature an 18+ beach club, which is great news! It will also offer opportunities for private events, romantic dinners, and more. I couldn't resist exploring that island myself. Since guests get one hour of kayaking free of charge during their stay, I decided to paddle over and feel like Robinson Crusoe. Since I can't swim, I had second thoughts twice halfway through, but I made it there and back, getting a massive boost of adrenaline and emotion. I recommend everyone try it—they have single kayaks, double kayaks, and transparent ones for $15 that make for gorgeous keepsake photos. I also went turtle snorkeling. The boat takes you about 25 minutes away from the resort, where you swim with guides to look for turtles. It costs $150. I saw six turtles, a 2-meter reef shark, and lots of incredible fish—shaggy ones, toothy ones, striped ones. This was my second time doing this after Egypt, and I am absolutely thrilled; I definitely recommend it. Since the hotel itself is famous for its house reef, while staying in the water villas, I spent an hour every day just floating on the water and watching the fish. Your kids will be thrilled as well. Speaking of children, the hotel is excellent for family vacations. With room options accommodating 2+2, 2+3, and even 3+4 in the residences, you can relax in total comfort. There is an updated kids' club, joint workshops for parents and children launching at the end of the month, a kids' pool, and water slides, as well as a teens' room equipped with gaming consoles and Nintendo. For entertainment, there is table tennis, board game tables, chess, checkers, Uno, darts, and much more—you definitely won't get bored. In the main lounge area near the primary bar, there is a lounge zone and a small library where you can read while relaxing if you love reading like I do and didn't bring any books along. As for dining, options range from standard meal plans to Premium All-Inclusive. One could talk about the food endlessly—from the 2-Michelin-star chef to the cooks across all restaurants who are ready to fulfill your every whim. Don't hesitate to ask: just because something isn't on the buffet or menu doesn't mean they can't prepare it for you. We also always send all guest preferences to the hotel in advance for our tourists. A special shoutout to our butler, Eva—she is a gem. Her patience and dedication are incredible; I haven't encountered anyone quite like her in hospitality for a long time. She is truly in her element: attentive, responsive, and prompt. Just pure delight. Overall, the staff is happy, and you can tell they love their work and the resort itself, which speaks volumes about proper leadership and management. I chatted with everyone, and it is genuinely a professional team ready to create an atmosphere where you don't feel like a guest, but rather like you're at your favorite resort visiting old friends. Regarding beach access, there is a powdery white-sand lagoon located opposite the SPA and main pool, where you can enjoy incredible sunsets every evening. One could go on and on, but it's best to book a stay and experience this resort for yourself!
The Standard is a very special place. It's like paradise on steroids!! From the moment we arrived we received amazing attention. Their app was a convenient way to access staff. We asked for a pink inner tube to enjoy in our personal room pool. It arrived in less then 20 minutes! We asked for more towels. Delivered fast! We needed dinner reservation. Yoseph contacted us with place and time at Onda. Front row table nearest to the water with sunset views. We initially felt like we were the White Lotus Series. The Standard is beautiful. Lots of pool side lounge chairs with umbrellas. The sand is a white soft powder. The views beyond beautiful. An incredible array of mesmerizing blues. Food is good. Nice variety of items. Breakfast and dinner buffets AMAZING! Each night there is a special event. One night was the manager having a cocktail party. Drinks and appetizers were served as the manager warmly welcomed all of us. At that moment we became family. One night was music/movie trivia night. So fun! A very energetic DJ/Host got everyone involved with dancing and singing. Our last night was movie night. Big white screen was set up on the beach. Chairs in place. You sit down and a headset is brought to you, along with a bowl of popcorn. So fun! Every staff member was warm and friendly. We stayed 4 nights. We saw familiar faces every day. Always welcoming and pleased to serve any of our needs. When we wanted to add a meal plan, the manager personally assisted us. The best ambassador for The Standard was Yoseph. Always smiling and personable. We saw him a couple of times each day. He would literally find us all over the propeety to check and see if were ok. He was like this with everyone. So warm and friendly. Leaving The Standard was like leaving your favorite relatives house. A little sad. We will return to The Standard Maldives again. Definitely highly recommend. Come to relax. To smile. To see beauty and people like no where else. Thank you for such a wonderful vacation in paradise on steroids.
Truely lovely place. From the moment we arrived the staff could not do enough to ensure we had a great stay from the lounge at the sea plane terminal to the hotel. We had a beach bungalow with plunge pool which was amazing. It opens up to your own section of beach - we opted for the lagoon side which had the best view of baby island. Staff to mention are Si in the BBQ restaurant and Shack in the Onda restaurant and Bilau behind the bar around the pool area who where all fabulous. This is the third island we have visited and by far the best. There are golf style buggies around which you can hitch a ride on or book and there are bikes everywhere for you use. The island really isn't that big though which was part of the appeal. We got the sea plane transfer in when we booked, plus a free boat trip, use of snorkels and life jackets and an hour free a day of non motorised water sports. There is a gym, kids club and a tennis court you can use which we did not utilise plus we each got 45 min massage free as part of the booking. The food was so good in all the restaurants including the Buffet , you do need to book at busy times but we would guess the hotel was only half full for the time we stayed. Such a great stay - I would recommend going All Inclusive as the individual costs of everything is quite high if you were to do room only.
We had a lovely stay at the Standard and really enjoyed the beauty of Maldives ✨ An extra special thank you goes to Eva, who was an absolute rockstar, and made sure each and every one of our questions, concerns and wishes was answered. She is wonderful. The rest of the staff here is amazing too, special shoutout to the chef who was most often behind the Omelette Station, as well as one of the servers who was helping us at the BBQ Shack, lovely people. Thank you and we hope to come back!
We had a truly wonderful stay at The Standard, Maldives. Our host, Shamaau, was excellent throughout our stay. He was very attentive and communicative, always making sure we had everything we needed. He would often catch up with us around the island for a chat, and his passion for the Maldives really shows in his work, especially when talking about the local flora and fauna. He also made sure we were in the perfect spot to witness an epic Maldivian sunset, which was a lovely touch. We also received great service throughout our stay from Saikumar at Todis, Sai during breakfast and at Guduguda, and Shak at Onda. Shak always had great meal recommendations and even pointed us towards the best place on the island to watch the sunrise. The food and drinks, the overwater villa, the reefs and, above all, the staff made this a genuinely memorable holiday. Everyone we met was warm and welcoming, and the whole experience felt very special. We would absolutely recommend The Standard, Maldives and would happily return.
