Le Meridien Ile Maurice

My wife and I had a wonderful time celebrating our honeymoon in Mauritius with Le Méridien Ile Maurice. From the facilities to the wonderful service we couldn’t asked for anymore. Special mentions to Jerome and all the team at Jade for their wonderful service throughout. Thank you so much.

It was a wonderful stay from start to finish. What deserves special mention is the friendliness and helpfulness of the entire staff. Everyone was always attentive to our needs and genuinely committed to making sure we had a great stay. A very special thank you goes to Jerome, who was always there to assist us during our stay in the Nirvana Suites. He did an outstanding job and made us feel incredibly well looked after. Thank you so much! We also have to highlight the food. As we stayed on a half-board basis, we particularly enjoyed breakfast and dinner, which were absolutely delicious, varied, generous and full of choice. This was true both at the buffet restaurant Nomad and at the three additional themed restaurants. The spa offers a great selection of massages and wellness treatments, including a sauna, making it a perfect place to relax and unwind. Another fantastic feature is the complimentary snorkelling and glass-bottom boat tours, which depart directly from the hotel beach and allow you to explore the incredible marine life and vibrant reef surrounding Mauritius. The rooms are spacious and very clean, and the staff are exceptionally attentive, thorough and professional throughout the resort. A Tennis court and an Archery stand helped to keep us sportive. We truly enjoyed every moment of our stay and would definitely come back. In fact, we already miss our complimentary sundowner cocktails at the Nirvana Pool Bar! An absolute recommendation. Keep up the good work!

We had a wonderful stay at Le Méridien Île Maurice during our honeymoon. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed, and the whole experience was relaxing, comfortable, and memorable. The resort is beautiful, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the staff were always friendly and attentive. A special thank you to Jerome from the Butler Service, who took great care of us throughout our stay. He was professional, kind, responsive, and always ready to assist whenever we needed anything. His attention and hospitality truly added a personal touch to our honeymoon experience. We really appreciated all the effort that went into making our stay special, and we will definitely remember our time here. Thank you to Jerome and the entire Le Méridien Île Maurice team for the wonderful hospitality. We would be very happy to return in the future and highly recommend this resort to anyone visiting Mauritius, especially for a honeymoon or a relaxing getaway.

I would not rate this hotel as 5 star. Much of it is in bad need of a refurbished, broken treacherous decking that the golf buggies drive on, its not fit for purpose, grubby cushions in the bar area, broken, chipped and badly repaired floor tiles on the stairway and hall way. Our room 441 had many broken laminate tiles also. The room guy was excellent- 5 star service! We stayed at the Meriden as Half Board in the Nirvana section, it is adults only. The advantage being a smaller section of a huge hotel with a Nirvana pool area, bar and breakfast restaurant (Jade). Soft drinks are included from 11am until 6pm, but ONLY at the Nirvana bar. When participating in an activity like abdominal stretching (pilates) in the wedding area, any drink has to be obtained from Nirvana which is 350m away. You have to pay at every location outside of Nirvana. And water with your meal is charged at £4 per bottle! The three "A la carte" restaurants are really nice, staff are 5 star, food quality excellent. In contrast the main dining hall felt very school dinners, lots of noise, music trying to drown out the ambience of frenzy, food quality was hit and miss. Not up to the standard that we have experienced in our 5 previous Maldivian holidays that we have had at 4 and 5 star rating....all at lower cost and all inclusive. The Jade staff and standards are great at any time, as are the pool bar staff. Nirvana's pool and beach area were chilled, what we expected. I'm glad to have visited Mauritius, it was my first visit, would i return- unlikely due to the amount we paid not representing good value for money. We were left feeling that another Maldivian holiday would have been a better option for 5 star ambience and also less money.

First the really nice things, lovely views and most staff wonderful and very helpful. We stayed in the adult only Nirvana part of the hotel. This is a huge hotel with well over 200 rooms so butique it isn't. Breakfast is amazing with buffet style selection with fresh fruit, fresh bread, cheeses, youghurts, smoked salmon etc. There is also a big and good selection of cooked eggs and pancakes and so on. The plus with nirvana is that the nirvana guests have brekfast at Jade restaurant and not in the main buffet. The other good thing is that there are free alcohol free drinks included from 11 am until 6pm from the bar in the Nirvana section, however this doesn't extend to anywhere else in the hotel. We also really enjoyed some of the activities provided. We did some power walks as well as took part in the abdominal/streching sessions led by Joana and Ingrid and want to thank both ladies for being amazing. Now to the not so good; hotel is tired, missing bits of flooring in the hotel room, shower room could do with a renovation too. Chunks of tiling missing in hotel staircase, corridors. The fake decking that is a walkway is lethal, particularly at night in the dark, we stumbled several times over loose planks and broken bits. The buffet in the main restaurant is okay but the ambiance is awful. Noisy, loads of people do not adhere to dress codes either and plenty of people think that being on vidoe calls is okay in a restaurant, not just for everyone to hear but also see. The place could be improved by didviding the huge place up into more intimate, smaller spaces. The food was mainly okay. We ended up eating mainly in the 3 alternative ala carte restaurants that we enjoyed very much. Please note that drinks aren't included and a 750ml bottle of sparkling water costs £4. Almost English prices which is ridiculous! The last complaint is that we had to check out of the room at 11 am and we requested a room as we didn't leave the hotel until 4pm for a late flight. They didn't have one available but we were told to use a lounge and that we could use the shower facility. Well, there is ONE shower for a hotel of this size. No dry area provided and the room isn't being properly maintained either. There was no shower gel and everything on the floor got wet since the shower screen leaked water into the small basin area. I have tried to leave a very objective review, some good some bad. Would we return? No, we wouldn't. To mauritios perhaps, but not to this hotel.
