Riu Turquoise

The staff were very helpful, specially the front desk (Reception Desk), they just tackle our issues very well.

It’s our first wedding anniversary, and unfortunately, we haven’t had our anniversary dinner as planned. I was really looking forward to the steakhouse, but it was fully booked when I checked in. The fact that it’s closed on Sundays wasn’t clear when booking, making it impossible to dine there during our two-night stay. I’ll share my full experience at the end of our stay.

Hotel Riu Turquoise Le Morne First visit here but it will be my last 1070596037 First time I have stayed at Le Morne as normally stay at various other locations around the Island as easier to travel. Le Morne is out of the way, although a nice location it is not practical for visiting Port Louis, Grand Baie, Belle Mare etc as takes around a 2 hour drive. One reason and the main reason I would not stay at the Riu Turquoise again due to the fact that local Mauritian people are allowed to book in for weekend stays at a third of the cost of all other non Mauritian guests, for 24/7 all inclusive. Some of the staff were excellent, could not fault Vissen, Mr Duc on the mini bar service as it was faultless as were the staff. Yassin, porter, front of house, was a perfect gentleman and nothing was too much trouble for him to attend too. Housekeeping were also fantastic, another faultless service and very friendly. The pool staff/attendants, male and female at the main pool were excellent and very caring. They looked after me when I was approached by male drunk Mauritians. Could not praise them highly enough for their thoughtfulness. Although we had a rental car we used a local taxi for some day trips. (Part of the taxi service for the hotel) We had an excellent driver/host and took us for several tours of the Island at a very reasonable cost. The children's pool was a non starter as it was too cold for my youngest granddaughter therefore we had to use the main pool area which had a heated pool. I cannot recommend the steak house as on the night (Saturday evening) that my family and I attended, there was a limited choice on the menu therefore the steak/beef that I chose was very tasteless and not cooked properly. I did ask for lamb, which was on the menu, but not available. We left after 30 mins as there was also a limited choice of dessert. (Ice cream contained nuts - no other choice available) The main buffet restaurant I thought was excellent, it had several choices of all different cultures of food, a great variety for everyone. The staff were also wonderful and attentive. Fatima, who looked after us was first class. Disappointing fact, on the Sunday morning we had to go out for breakfast as there was no seating available due to the fact that all the local Mauritians had taken over the whole restaurant. Another lesson for the Riu to learn, keep some seating available for your non Mauritian guests who travel several thousand miles to enjoy the experience of visiting Mauritius. The entertainment was reasonable although the kids entertainment was much better. The reception area, on arrival, we were not offered a complimentary drink which is the custom, therefore disappointed with the lack of welcome. It is 24/7 all inclusive, so a drink should have been offered. The local wines which were on offer were cheap and not pleasant therefore I opted to go to the local supermarket to purchase a brand of rose wine, South African (not expensive) to keep in the fridge in my room. In my opinion, if other options were offered at an additional cost for a better quality of wine, I would have been more than happy to do so. I have been a regular visitor to the Island since 2007. In my opinion, Hotel Riu Turquoise rates as below average hotel to stay at.

We had a wonderful time at RIU and truly enjoyed our stay with the kids. It was such a lovely experience for the whole family, with plenty of happy moments and great memories that we will cherish. What really stood out to us was how welcoming, friendly, and helpful the staff were throughout our stay. Everyone was so kind and attentive, and their warm hospitality made us feel comfortable and well looked after. We had a fantastic time as a family and genuinely enjoyed every moment. Thank you to the entire RIU team for making our stay so enjoyable and memorable. We would be very happy to come back again!

We came for the weekend with the whole family, just to have a good rest and treat the kids. The kids' club here is incredible so beautiful and stylish! The children were completely thrilled and spent hours there. My husband and I were able to truly relax and enjoy a peaceful swim in the pool. The rooms are cozy, and the beds are comfortable. Huge thanks to Zaheed thanks to his attention and professionalism, our stay went so smoothly. He helped us with absolutely everything and showered us with care. The kids adored him, and we will definitely come back to see him again. Overall, we had the most positive experience.
