Akumal Bay Resort

Very peaceful relaxing excellent service. Very clean

This place was an absolute Utopia! It was just what we were hoping for. Serene, peaceful and beautiful. The only downside was the seaweed which we knew beforehand might be an issue (which is beyond their control). We brought our own snorkel gear and spent hours out on our own in the water. No driving anywhere, no guided tour...no annoyances. It was perfect! Food was amazing, service was amazing and so was the low key entertainment. We are hoping to go back in the winter!

We stayed for 20 nights July into August 2026 and have had a fantastic experience, this was our 6th time back to this resort and it won’t be our last. We had a ground floor room in building 4 which was perfect. The only negative I can think of is the temperature of the food in the buffet, the heat plates the food is put out on just isn’t powerful enough to keep the food hot. This has been the case for many years since we have been coming here, I really wish they would invest some money into the buffet and invest in really good equipment to keep food piping hot whilst on display, this is a gripe of many guests! However the buffet food is mostly of good quality, the fresh pasta station is brilliant, and bonus is since is cooked fresh for you, it’s always piping hot! Aurora the egg lady is fantastic as always, she is a ray of sunshine every morning! Dos huevos medianos por favour! The onsite cat, Panchita, is still around and going strong, she loves cat biscuits so if you are ever in town, stop off at oxxo or the general store and pick up some cat biscuits for her! Special thanks to Allan who went out of his way to ensure we were the happiest we could possibly be during our stay, he truly is an asset to the Akumal Bay team! Huge thanks to Wilbert, Rosa and Felipe at the lobby bar who kept us hydrated and always greeted us with a genuine smile and manner! The food quality has improved since our last visit in 2024 and the new Italian restraint Nuvola is a fantastic new addition to the resort! The Brazilian steak house ‘The Grill, no longer does the Brazilian skewers, we had the New York strip steak and grilled fish and both were very nice. We can’t wait come back in the next couple of years, this place captures you like a magnet and brings you back time and time again, you can’t get a resort like this for the money anywhere else in the riviera maya!

It was a wonderful experience, which I would do again and I absolutely recommend. The place is nothing short of gorgeous, the staff even more so: always smiling, very kind, always at your complete disposal. Excellent food and drinks. A special thank you goes to Omero and Pedro, with whom we talked and joked a lot. Omero prepared spectacular drinks as soon as he saw us coming, one better than the other; Pedro with his cerveza and his tequila shots coloured all our evenings at the Pellicano. They really transmitted all their happiness to us, every day. Thanks to all the staff, you were a family! 🥹❤️

The staff was incredibly kind, helpful, and always smiling. The resort is full of adorable animals, which made the atmosphere even more special. The food was excellent and the drinks were absolutely amazing! A special thank you to OMERO, the bartender and the absolute number one when it comes to drinks — you truly stay in our hearts! ❤️ And a big thank you to Pedro from the 24-hour restaurant, El Pelícano, for his kindness and great service. Everything was excellent from start to finish. Congratulations to the whole team for creating such a wonderful experience! We can’t wait to come back! 🌴☀️🍹
