Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an

A really enjoyable week in the Bahía complex. Loved the infinity pool. Great friendly staff throughout the complex. Poor maps made it difficult to navigate the entire complex. Good quality drinks apart from the choice of house wine. We are not wine experts but it was a massive letdown for us- the management needs to change suppliers instead of trying upselling to expensive bottles! Not all the A La Carte restaurants were up to scratch- far too bright in some and bland flavours. Having said that- really enjoyed some with fantastic welcoming staff. Would definitely return if someone addressed the house wine situation!!

This was our second time staying at Bahia Principe Sian Ka’an, and we are also Privilege Club members. Overall, we would rate our experience a 4.5 out of 5. The amenities and service were very good, although not quite exceptional. We really enjoyed the Privilege Club benefits, particularly the ability to dine at any of the restaurants we wanted, as well as the premium liquor benefits at the privilege clubs. The Spa services were incredible, especially the anti-aging facial at the Sian Ka’an Spa. The beaches were just okay, but that was primarily due to the seaweed that is common this time of year. The resort did a great job of clearing one portion of the beach so guests could still enjoy the beach experience. The pools and pool bars were clean and fun, and we had no trouble finding seating each time we visited the pools. Our only real disappointment was with the advertised hours of certain services. If specific hours are posted, we believe those services should be available during those advertised times. We experienced a few occasions where the Privilege shuttle was advertised as running until 10:00 PM but had ended service around 9:30 PM. We also found the Cenote Restaurant at Sian Ka’an advertised as being open 24 hours, but when we arrived shortly before midnight, we were told it was closed and that only one item was available. Despite that issue, we had a fantastic overall experience and would happily return. The resort, amenities, staff, and Privilege Club benefits made for a wonderful vacation.

When we first arrived we were greeted with open arms and a welcome drink. Once settled into our room we decided to check out the resort. As we walked it was very quiet, kind of like a library quiet, which made us doubt our resort choice. After a nice quit night of sleep we headed to the pool and it was so quiet we thought we needed to whisper until we heard the music coming from one of the other pools. We picked up our stuff and headed to the music and never went to any of the other pools. We laid there enjoying the music and all of a sudden the fun began when David and Fabian made their appearance! Every day there were fun activities that evolved everyone at the pool. David and Fabian introduced themselves to everyone at the pool, and even had conversations with everyone, they are both amazing gentlemen. Both of them are very passionate about their jobs, making sure everyone is having a good time, and made sure if we needed anything they were more than welcome to help. I got sun poisoning and a horrible rash on the second or third day there, David and Fabian would ask if I was doing okay, if I needed to seek medical attention, and how they could help make my situation more comfortable. We have been to many resorts and have not been showed that level of concern or kindness. David and Fabian were always a pleasure to talk to and made our stay 100% more enjoyable! We met Issac at the front desk, I think he was a manager, and he was so very kind as to talk to us every time we saw him. He also made sure our stay was going well and told us if we needed anything to let him know. He also asked us our opinion about the resort, staff, and etc. All the staff greeted us with smiles daily and were pleasant. I would recommend this resort if you want a fun time during the day but a quiet peaceful night!

Stayed here for a week end of August to beginning of September. We had a previously stayed at the Coba resort in 2019, First time staying here. Upon arrival we were offered an upgraded rooftop suite with a Jacuzzi, but after we compared room rooms, we decided just to stick with the regular suite. The Outside of the hotel needs an upgrade. It was obvious that the occupancy was very low. The buffet was very small, but we were always able to find something to eat. Staff are very friendly. We are in our 40s, but feel that this location is better suited for an older crowd as it tends to be quieter and far away from everything. The trolleys come to pick you up to take you to the other locations on the property however we were told they run every 20 to 30 minutes depending on time of day which is frustrating because there’s no way of knowing when the next one is coming and often had to wait 10+ minutes for one to come. If you go to an à la carte dinner at another hotel, make sure you give yourself more than enough time to get there. We booked the Bahia ATV + Cenote through the Amstar rep in the lobby and had a wonderful time and recommend it. The water pressure in the shower is terrible and the shower door did not close all the way. I forgot the power adapter for my iPhone in order to charge it and the one at the gift shop or hacienda was ridiculously expensive. Camila at guest services went above and beyond two provide me with one for the duration of our stay. Will I come back? Probably not. I don’t recommend this location for anyone under 60 unless you’re looking for a really quiet vacation. The mosquitoes were rampant and I had many bites so I would definitely recommend bringing repellent. There was the odd while life spotting.

Second visit to this hotel. Again, we found the vast majority of staff to be hard working and welcoming. Great to see a lot of the same staff from last year. One or two of the younger staff need a bit more supervision to keep them motivated. The food was of a high standard albeit options reduced for low season. The Guest Experience Team at the Bahia Príncipe Escape Sian Ka’an are still incredible and go out of their way to give guests. as far as possible, a personalised holiday experience. Armando, Isaac, Camila, Daniel, Erandi and Enrique were excellent. They absolutely go out of their way to ensure guests are well looked after and enjoying the hotel. If you like a calmer, relaxed experience choose this hotel in the Bahia complex. You will get a high standard of service, including in the Main restaurant and the two speciality restaurants: Maiko and Alux. Staff in the restaurants are very attentive and again a shout out to Carlos in the speciality restaurants. It is well documented that the rooms need some refurbishment but they still offer clean, good-sized accommodation, especially for long-haul stays from the UK. Service in the lobby bar can unfortunately be a bit hit and miss- sometimes you will be asked if you want a drink, other times the waitresses will stand at the end of the bar looking a bit bored and fed up on their phones. A bit more rotation of staff roles might be needed as the same staff seem to be there a lot in the afternoon/evening? Tips will motivate of course but it can be difficult to get hold of lower denomination notes which makes it difficult to tip every time you get a drink. A big annoyance this year was the increasingly pushy Privilege Team in all hotels trying to give you the same ‘patter’ to get you into a conversation. After the first few days it becomes very annoying: how are you, where are you from, what do you think of the resort,…,? Even when you say you have spoken to colleagues already they don’t always go away.
