The resort has some great features, but there are also several problems that need to be addressed. One thing I will give them credit for is the level of security. I felt very safe throughout the entire trip. There was a noticeable security presence around the resort and beach area, with Mexican police officers and military personnel regularly patrolling the beach. Seeing them consistently monitoring the area gave me an extra sense of security while relaxing, walking around, and enjoying the beach. There was also a lifeguard on duty, which made the beach feel even safer, especially with people swimming and participating in water activities. Overall, safety was never a concern for me during the trip, and I felt comfortable the entire time. Room service can be disappointing because the food sometimes arrives cold. Mosquitoes can also be a serious issue, so definitely bring bug spray. Housekeeping was inconsistent, and there were times when we had to remind staff to clean the room, which should not be necessary at a resort people are paying good money to stay at. Check-in was also frustrating. The front desk originally tried to give us the wrong room, which immediately started the trip off on the wrong foot. Communication with some staff members was also difficult because several employees spoke very little English. When a large portion of your customers are English-speaking, the resort should make sure there are enough employees available who can communicate clearly with them. The timeshare pushing was probably one of the most annoying parts of the stay. Staff can be way too aggressive about trying to get guests to attend presentations or sign up for something. People are paying to relax and enjoy their vacation, not to constantly be pressured into buying a timeshare. The butler service also needs improvement. Sometimes the butler was helpful, but other times they were nowhere to be found. If the resort advertises butler service as part of the experience, guests should not have to wonder where their butler is or repeatedly try to track them down. Excursions are fun, but they can get expensive very quickly depending on what you choose to do, so be prepared to spend extra money. Now for the positives: the unlimited food and liquor are definitely a plus. The swim-up areas are amazing, the views are beautiful, the restaurants have some really good food, and the beach is gorgeous. We went from late August into early September, and there was much less sargassum, so I would definitely recommend visiting around that time if the beach is important to you. The music and overall atmosphere were great, and the excursions were honestly one of the best parts of the trip. The excursion team had excellent communication, stayed organized, and actually kept everyone informed. In my opinion, the butler staff could learn a lot from them because the excursion team did a much better job communicating and making sure guests knew what was going on. Overall, the resort looks great and has plenty of enjoyable features, but the service does not always match the price or the image they are trying to sell. The security was excellent and made me feel comfortable throughout the trip, but there are still several areas that need work. Fix the housekeeping, improve communication, stop being so aggressive with the timeshares, make the butler service more reliable, and improve the consistency of room service, and the overall experience would be much better.
Amazing experience, our butler Roberto was amazing and went above and beyond to make sure we had an unforgettable experience!
It wasn't totally bad. My/Our only concern was that the planning of the dinners was tough and the pressure of having someone eat breakfast with you is weird just so they can try and get you to buy another trip. Which I get but that is to much!!! When checking in I think you should be asked where and when you want to eat right then and there. Your there to relax and enjoy everything not have to worry about buying a trip or worry about where dinner is.
Jimmy Butler in TRS coral bld #2 was amazing. His consistent checking in and ensuring that everything we requested/required was provided for was second to none. We look forward to seeing him again.
I came to TRS Cancun with high expectations after hearing so many good things, but unfortunately our experience was completely different. This was supposed to be a relaxing trip for our wedding anniversary, and instead it became one of the most disappointing resort stays we’ve had. The biggest issue was the overall atmosphere and service. Many of the staff members we interacted with seemed unfriendly, rarely smiled, and simply did not create the warm, welcoming environment you expect from an upscale resort. On top of that, we constantly felt like something was being sold to us — upgrades, spa packages, memberships/timeshares, etc. When you are trying to relax on vacation, being approached repeatedly about spending more money becomes incredibly irritating. The food was another major disappointment. The buffet was extremely subpar and nowhere near what I would expect from a resort positioning itself at this level. Restaurant dining requires reservations, and when we arrived, we quickly discovered that many restaurants already needed to have been booked in advance. So on your first day, you may essentially be left with the buffet whether you want it or not. The advertised “butler service” was also almost nonexistent during our stay. We barely saw or heard from our butler and certainly did not receive the level of personalized service that TRS promotes. We also mentioned that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, but there was very little effort made to acknowledge or accommodate the occasion. At a supposedly luxury adults-only resort, those small touches matter. One of the most unpleasant moments happened at the pool bar. I watched a bartender working in the heat with sweat visibly dripping from his face while preparing drinks, and at one point it appeared to drip directly toward/into drinks being served. It was extremely uncomfortable and honestly disgusting to watch. At minimum, management should make sure employees working in those conditions have an appropriate way to wipe their faces and maintain proper hygiene around drinks. Overall, TRS Cancun felt far more focused on upselling than hospitality. Between the poor food, lack of warmth from the staff, virtually nonexistent butler experience, restaurant reservation problems, and constant sales pitches, I simply cannot understand the luxury reputation. For Canadians and Americans considering this resort: I would personally spend more and stay somewhere such as Finest, Excellence, Ritz-Carlton, or another genuinely higher-end property. For the price TRS charges, the experience simply was not there. I would not return.
