We would have given Huma a much better review, but unfortunately, our experience was significantly affected by one very rude employee. First, I want to recognize the employees who went out of their way every day to make us feel welcome, taken care of, and happy. Wai Wai was such an amazing person to see daily. She always had a smile on her face, went out of her way to make sure we were enjoying ourselves, and was genuinely wonderful. Amin was also a great employee — always smiling, friendly, and full of positive energy. The young man working at the front desk each day was another person who made our stay enjoyable. Even the bartender who gave us a bottle of champagne after my boyfriend proposed was incredibly kind and seemed genuinely excited for us. Those employees deserve recognition because they truly made us feel welcome. Unfortunately, the man working outside by the bay was a completely different experience. I don’t know his official title, but he told us that he owned the property. I sincerely hope the actual owners or management are made aware of this interaction. My boyfriend proposed to me on the dock at Huma, and our photographer wanted to take a few additional photos around the hotel. At one point, she wanted us to stand upstairs near the pool, but a table and umbrella were in the way. My boyfriend moved a lounge chair over and gently placed the table on top of it while we took the photos. Our photographer then asked us to move to another location, and we completely forgot to put the table back on the ground. While we were taking photos downstairs, this employee approached us and asked, “Did you enjoy the bottle of champagne I gave you?” We were confused because the bartender had actually given us the bottle after the proposal, but we smiled, thanked him, and said yes. He then responded, “Yeah, you’re welcome for that. And next time you want to take a picture and move my furniture, put it back.” We immediately apologized. Rather than simply accepting the apology, he made another comment along the lines of, “Don’t come here and destruct my property,” before walking away. My boyfriend immediately looked at me and said, “That’s a buzz kill,” and unfortunately, it really was. This was one of the happiest days of our lives, and after that interaction, we felt so uncomfortable that we essentially stopped taking photos. We even looked at the chair afterward to make sure nothing had happened to it, and there wasn’t a mark on it. We completely understand that furniture should be put back where it belongs, and we would have gladly done so had he simply asked. We made an honest mistake, immediately apologized, and there was absolutely no reason for the interaction to become so condescending and hostile. It’s especially disappointing because the rest of the staff was wonderful. Huma has some genuinely fantastic employees, and our experience with them was warm, welcoming, and memorable. Unfortunately, one employee’s behavior completely changed the way we left the property. If this person is in a guest relations or management position, I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously. Guests should not be made to feel uncomfortable or embarrassed, especially during what should be one of the most special moments of their lives. I wish I could say we would return one day, but after the way our engagement celebration ended, I don’t think we will.

I can totally understand the mixed reviews. We were treated really well and were looked after by some lovely staff at breakfast and especially at the beach. Wai Wai in particular is an absolute star. She's calm, efficient, helpful and charming. I hope the hotel look after her because she's the key to them keeping its 5 star rating and the positive reviews. But the prices, the additional taxes and charges applied to the final bill are hugely disappointing. There seemed to be lots of discussions about this at reception and at the beach. We just paid up as we had a good time over all, but it's a shame to make people feel they've been a bit cheated. A poor business model and not good for the image of the country. I won't go into the shambolic and scamming taxi companies operating in the area. That needs dealing with, but I won't hold my breath. We had a great taxi driver arranged by the hotel, Dragon. Top man. Charged us the right amount too. £20 euros to the airport. Not the £75 we got charged coming from it. Would I go back to Kotor? No. Good as it is. Dubrovnik is better, more reasonably priced. And calmer. To the hotel? Maybe, but not at those prices!

The trip started on the wrong foot as I had organised a transfer from Dubrovnik Airport and they forgot about it. So I was left at the airport. I called the hotel and eventually got through and was told to find a taxi. At check in, they took a €300 deposit for incidentals, which still hasnt been returned to me. I checked out a week ago and have written to the hotel to enquire about when this will be returned. No responses as yet. I would avoid staying at this hotel. The building itself is lovely. Not 5 stars, but it's lovely. Some individual staff members are good, but this hotel is not even close to being 5 stars.
