Dreams Dominicus La Romana

My stay at Dreams Dominicus La Romana was truly unforgettable. The highlight of our vacation was the breathtaking beach. The resort is located on a stunning stretch of the Caribbean Sea with crystal-clear turquoise water and soft white sand. Right from the beach, guests can join excursions to nearby islands, enjoy snorkeling, or try paddleboarding, making it a perfect destination for both relaxation and adventure. We also loved the beautiful design of the resort. Instead of one large hotel building, it features charming low-rise buildings that blend perfectly with the tropical surroundings and create a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. The food was excellent, with a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, several great restaurants, and consistently attentive service. Every meal was enjoyable, and there was always something delicious to choose from. My room was spotless, spacious, and had a large balcony where we could relax. The entire resort was impeccably clean and had a calm, tranquil atmosphere that made it easy to unwind. Every evening we looked forward to the entertainment. The resort offered a different professional show each night, featuring talented dancers, magicians, and amazing fire performers. The performances were exciting, well-organized, and a wonderful way to end the day. Overall, Dreams Dominicus La Romana exceeded our expectations in every way, and with its spectacular beach, beautiful grounds, excellent dining, comfortable accommodations, and outstanding entertainment, it is a place we would gladly return to.

music too loud almost every days in principal pool, shows near the rooms with music very loud until 22h30. With children sometimes is very difficult to rest. Buffet does not have much variety over the days. Very few thematic restaurants. When we arrive it was not necessary to book, but middle of the stay it was necessary. People and employees were very nice every days.

I am highly impressed with the resort amenities and the attention to details. The staff was amazing. A special thanks to Sebastian who made our stay a delight and took client service to the next level. He really went above and beyond. As well as Jonatan and Eduard were great 😊

Fun. I got the Preferred package, that means having to call for transport everytime going or coming from the beach. But it worked just fine if you don't mind waiting for a few minutes. Rooms were nice, clean and BIG. Had the fridge full everyday, and really cold beverages. Otherwise, everything was good.

Dreams Dominicus La Romana Bathroom Condition * There was a foul odor coming from the sink and shower drains—it smelled like nasty sewage. * The sink stopper was broken, revealing nasty, clogged debris underneath. I constantly had to adjust it just to keep the drain covered so I wouldn’t have to look at it and feel like vomiting. * The bathroom was extremely dated, with cracks and stains all over the place. * I just felt gross being in the bathroom. I held my breath as much as I could and tried to keep my time in there as short as possible. I couldn’t even brush my teeth in there—I constantly walked out to the main area of the room instead. Of course, I complained about this and was told there was no availability to switch rooms. Keep in mind, this was a Preferred room. Room Condition * The rest of the room was also very dated. The décor, beds, and walls all showed signs of extreme wear and tear. * The location of my room also made no sense. I had a Preferred Swim-Out room, but I couldn’t even enjoy privacy in the swim-out area because it faced the main walking path, leaving everything completely exposed. They have bushes in front of the rooms, but they aren’t even tall enough to block the view. Keep in mind, this is the case with just about all the rooms on the first floor. The layout of the resort just doesn’t make sense. The rooms need to be better separated from the main attraction and high-traffic areas. * My room was also located right next to the “quiet pool.” Sure, it remained quiet until some form of live entertainment came along and ruined the peace by singing, playing loud music, showing off instruments, etc. Of course, I would leave and go back to my room, but again, I was located right next to the pool, so I couldn’t escape the loud, booming sound of the speakers. It was impossible to take a nice, quick nap before dinner. Food * I only really enjoyed the food at the Preferred beach restaurant. After being disappointed by Flying Fish, the exclusive restaurant for Preferred members, during breakfast one morning, I only ate breakfast and lunch by the beach. * The dinner restaurants were very underwhelming—small portions, cold food, bland flavors, and rushed service. Pools * I hated my experience at the Preferred pool. I’m not sure why they thought it would be a good idea to place a children’s waterpark-type setup in the same section as the Preferred pool. I’m used to Preferred areas being designated as quieter, more relaxing environments, like at most Dreams locations I’ve visited. * I understand that the resort is family-friendly, but again, people tend to upgrade to Preferred to enjoy more exclusive and peaceful areas. I ended up spending most of my day at the quiet pool—until they disturbed the peace with entertainment. Beach * The view of the water is amazing—that’s about it. The beach was an overcrowded mess. It was absolutely impossible for me to find a nice seat that offered both a good view and close proximity to the water. * Even the Preferred section didn’t make sense. There were only a handful of genuinely good seats, and the workers were not helpful at all when it came to finding seating. It seemed as though people were waking up very early, placing towels on chairs to claim them, and then returning hours later to actually use the seats. * I’m really disappointed that I couldn’t even enjoy the water the way I wanted to. Also, the Preferred section shares a wall with the neighboring resort, and they tend to blast extremely loud, bass-heavy music, which made it impossible to nap, read, or simply enjoy some peace and quiet. Service * The quality of service definitely varies depending on where you are. In some areas, you’ll find kind workers who are eager to assist you. In others, the staff can be very grumpy and unhelpful, leaving you to figure things out on your own. * One of my biggest disappointments was the lack of servers taking drink orders in the Preferred areas—and there was no food service at all. The beach had about one to three servers taking drink orders, but the service wasn’t consistent. The Preferred pool area did not offer this at all. * I did experience beverage service at the quiet pool, but that seemed to be because I was tipping a few American dollars per drink. The same bartenders repeatedly came over to see if I needed anything, but they did not do the same for other guests. I specifically paid attention to this because I wanted to see whether the service was consistent. * One of the main reasons people upgrade to Preferred is to enjoy these kinds of services. For the price I paid, I expected to have servers tending to both my beverage and food needs, as I’ve experienced at other Hyatt Inclusive Collection properties. Instead, I had to get up and get my own food every single time I wanted something to eat. Overall Overall, I am not satisfied with my stay at Dreams Dominicus La Romana. I was grossed out by the condition of my room, underwhelmed by the food and drinks, and disappointed by the lack of service—especially considering that I paid for the Preferred experience. Thankfully, this was a quick trip, and I’m glad I didn’t extend my stay as I had initially planned. I will not return to this location unless I hear about some major changes and improvements.
