Alua Boccaccio

We booked this stay through Funjet who understood that we were looking for a 4-5 star experience. The only appeal of this hotel is that it is close to the beach. For that convenience you get a tiny and I will emphasize TINY room, with a scent of sewage that goes from mild - 'what's that smell', to strong - 'it smells like poo' in the room. The walls are quite thin, everything looks old and worn down, the pool is overcrowded with a reservoir of still water behind it with a layer of gross foam that might be part of the reason for the smell. We left within a couple hours of checking in.

We stayed at Alua Boccaccio from August 9–20 on an All Inclusive basis. Before booking, I had read many positive reviews on Google and Booking, so my expectations were quite high. Unfortunately, the hotel did not fully live up to them. The biggest advantage is definitely the location. The hotel is just a few minutes from a beautiful, large beach, which was one of the highlights of our stay. There is also a beach bar available for All Inclusive guests, which is very convenient for getting water, drinks or a snack without having to return to the hotel. The food, however, was rather disappointing. The choice was quite limited for an All Inclusive hotel, and during the last few days of our stay the quality noticeably declined. By the end of the holiday, it became increasingly difficult to find something we actually wanted to eat. The general condition and cleanliness also did not quite match my expectations. Some of the beach towels were very worn out — on one occasion I received a towel with a large hole in it. The bed linen had visible stains, and the cleaning of our room was mediocre at first, particularly the floors, where sand remained after cleaning. After I mentioned this, the cleaning improved considerably and was good for the rest of our stay. However, my main disappointment was our room. I was traveling alone with my 9-year-old son and deliberately booked a more expensive Family Room through the hotel’s official website because it was larger and I expected it to provide more comfort for a parent traveling with a child. Only after arriving did we discover that the bathroom in this room type is essentially open to the bedroom. The toilet has only a glass door, while the shower has no proper separation from the room at all. There is also a mirror opposite the shower, which makes the lack of privacy even more uncomfortable. This may be acceptable for some guests, but for a mother staying with her 9-year-old son it was absolutely unsuitable for us. I wanted both myself and my child to be able to shower, change clothes and use the bathroom with normal privacy. Most importantly, this feature is not clearly stated in the room description on the hotel website. It was also not obvious to me from the photographs when booking. When we raised the issue at reception, we were told that the layout could be seen in the pictures. I strongly disagree: something this important should be explicitly mentioned in the description, especially for a room marketed as a Family Room. We were traveling as four mothers with our 9–10-year-old sons, and all of us had booked Family Rooms. We later learned that most of these rooms have the open layout, while a small number of newer Family Rooms on the 5th floor have properly enclosed bathrooms. One family in our group received one of those rooms, and it was completely suitable. For the rest of us, the only practical solution offered was to move to smaller Standard Double Rooms, which at least provided more privacy. These rooms were a lower and cheaper category than the Family Rooms we had already paid for. No refund or compensation for the price difference was offered because the downgrade was treated as our own decision. We were also required to sign a document confirming that we had voluntarily agreed to the room change and would have no financial claims against the hotel. For me, describing this as a voluntary choice is difficult to accept. Technically, we agreed to change rooms, but we did so because the room we had booked was not suitable for a parent and child who need basic bathroom privacy. We therefore paid for a higher room category and ended up staying in a cheaper, smaller one. This situation could easily be avoided if the hotel clearly stated in the Family Room description that the bathroom and shower are open to the sleeping area. Guests could then decide before paying whether this layout works for their family.

We are just returning from a fantastic holiday at Alua Boccaccio and we honestly couldn’t fault it. It’s a fantastic hotel with such a friendly atmosphere, and every single member of staff was fabulous. Before going, I had read a previous review saying that the bar staff were miserable, but this absolutely was not our experience! The bar staff were all brilliant — friendly, chatty and always happy to have a laugh with you. The food was great, with plenty of choice, and we always managed to find sunbeds around the pool, even though the hotel was busy. The beach bar is brilliant and is situated on a lovely part of the beach, only about a 5-minute walk from the hotel. It was a real bonus being able to head down there for a drink or something to eat. The entertainment was also great. We particularly loved the interactive bingo, darts and the mojito-making — lots of fun and a great atmosphere! We also downloaded a taxi app which works much like Uber and found it really useful for getting around. If you get the chance, definitely visit Pollença Old Town and the old town of Alcúdia — both are beautiful and well worth seeing. A huge thank you to all the fabulous staff at Alua Boccaccio for giving us such a fantastic, first-class holiday. You all work so hard and really helped make our stay so enjoyable. We would absolutely recommend this hotel and would love to return! ❤️☀️

We stayed for 3 nights at the beginning of July. The hotel was lovely and perfectly located. Food was perfectly ok but we did not think there was enough variety for more than a 3 night stay. Pool area is lovely however not big enough for the amount of guests. There were people on towels on the floor one day. We spent our time on the sundeck with was great but had to get up to save sunbeds which is not ideal. The beach bar is an absolute winner. 5 mins walk from the hotel and tucked away behind the beach. Perfect for a cool down and a snack. This is a big selling point for this hotel and one if the main reasons we would return. Staff were all very friendly and the hotel is very clean and modern. Make sure you visit Alcudia old town, it’s stunning and well worth a visit.

Location is great, 5 min walk to the beach and on the strip where there’s lots of shops, bars and restaurants. The rooms are small but everything you need including a hairdryer. They are clean, maids come everyday to change towels. The hotel is actually quite small with a small pool area however never had to fight for sun beds. I would say it’s good for families however it was very strange going in August and barely any kids, my son didn’t get chance to make any friends this year. Food is ok always a variety but does get abit repetitive. The paellas are really nice and are on most days. The drinks are good and was able to get limoncello and aperol spritz’s as part of the all inclusive. Entertainment is ok, just typical of an all inclusive hotel.
