Insotel Club Cala Mandia

So after having 5 days at the hotel, I wanted to write an honest review.i had low expectations due to the price and comments on here and trip advisor. The transfer was 60-90 mins from the airport (it varied on the way there and back) and on arrival we checked in easily. Everything was shut as it was so late but we checked in easily. We got very lost trying to find the room due to the layout of the hotel (plus it was dark!). Our room in c block 1830 was up 6 flights of stairs. Ok for us with two teens, but may be a struggle with littles. Those are the only real negatives of the holiday - done on day 1. Our room was very big with a large balcony and the air con was fine (we hate it too cold!!). It was always very clean and no smell of damp!! The pool at C block was where we stayed. People do hog the beds from super early at A block but b and c are ok to 8/9am. We struggled a few times but managed to get hold of a few random beds and put them together. The splash park was ace - there are queues to enter but again, we found random beds and grouped together when needed. Opens at 10am. Entertainment in the evening was a bit random. The bingo was super fun!! Usual acrobatic stuff, singers etc…. There was a show at B block which was so strange - I can’t even explain but people pretending to be fountains and spitting. So strange it was a great story….not sure I enjoyed it though 🤣🤣🤣. Pool table at B block - the one in sports bar was broken. Beach was fab - very hot sea and super clear!! Loved the opportunity to rent a parasol (15 euro for 2 x loungers plus parasol). We had a fab morning there. The entertainment team were great fun! Simon was lovely to chat to and our family loved water Zumba, aqua fit and water basketball! I honestly cannot understand why there has been negativity about the food! The buffet catered for so many and there was so much to choose from. We have had better at a RIU but for the price of the holiday, it was fab!! The salads were ace and the cheeses and hummus were amazing! So many desserts (which had a taste - I find desserts at AI hotels very bland). Drinks were good quality!! We took cups on advice of Facebook but didn’t need them at all! There weren’t that many cocktails but it’s AI so didn’t expect too much! The ameretto was lovely and I had lots of sangria!! We had a great 5 days and felt relaxed and happy throughout our visit!! Sorry for anyone who didn’t share the same experience. Make sure to visit Drach Caves, Porto Christo and do the boat trip! It’s c 29 euro per person for 2 hours with a swim and well worth it!! You will see Rafa Nedal’s boat and house in the harbour at Porto christo - we had the best food on the harbour for lunch!! So reasonable too! Take the bus - it’s really easy and only 6 Euro for a family of 4 there and back (to Porto Christo). Taxi is 10 euro but can be a struggle to get one. The buses are really regular and easy to use. Hope you find this useful and have an awesome holiday xxxx
