O7 - BelleVue Belsana

Travelled with a friend and ended up here due to the ash cloud over Malta! We would not have chosen this hotel if we had chance to review. The staff are lovely and Porto Colom is beautiful, the hotel is clean. But, it is old and tired, worn out and in desperate need of modernising. The pool bar, doesn’t do food and the hotel doesn’t have much close by that is open for lunches, the hotel doesn’t offer anything either so it’s clear why very few guests use the pool area. On the plus side you will get a sunbed! Plants are not cared for, dying and left. Pool bar and area closes in the evening. The inside bar was empty with very little choice so not a great place to relax on an evening, guests did not use this area much. Food in the restaurant isn’t great and not much fresh fruit. Very limited choices for dietary restrictions. Some fantastic restaurants in surrounding areas but you will need to walk around 15 minutes minimum. Aircon is non existent and old, the rooms are tired, no fridge, hairdryer broken, beds old and creaky. Drawers and wardrobe smelt damp so we lived out of our cases. Toilet was difficult to flush and the bathroom window with no blind was directly onto the balcony of the room next door so privacy in the shower was compromised! It’s a shame because this hotel is in a fabulous location with stunning views and could be amazing. The local beach is stunning and restaurants are close to the beach are good.

I do want to start by saying this is no fault of the staff. The staff work tirelessly to ensure a good experience for guests but there seems to be an issue higher up. Rooms - very outdated, dark, toilet was in an awkward position so you had to sit sideways at all times. Balcony is ok, we were lucky enough to be on the top floor which meant we had a decent view of the town but any further down and you would be facing an old tennis court which was not up to much. Pool - dirty, needs fixing - tiles are chipped, bugs floating round in the pool, what looks like mould all in the drain, small pool is so gritty, very very quiet which was a plus sometimes. There were days where it was only me and my partner in the entire outside for hours! Depends if you like that stuff. Area- extremely quiet, not much going on at all, a very strong odour, dog/bird poo all over the floors. Long walk to anything nice really. Definitely not suitable for people with disabilities, lots of walking to beach etc. Food- bad, limited options and not nice taste at all. Other - lift is really old and on our last day the lift was broken which meant we had to carry all our luggage down from floor 6! But the staff are very kind; especially the barman and the lifeguard. Wouldn’t visit again! Management need to sort this hotel out as it is definitely not 3 star! Maybe 2 at a push.

Just back from a 5 day stay. First thing is all the staff were lovely and very helpful. Our room on the 4th floor had a great view of the town and harbour. The rooms are spotless and cleaned every day, fresh linen and towels. Although a basic 3 star I couldn’t fault it, only a fridge would be an improvement. There’s vented air con, free, so was lovely and cool. Breakfast buffet had a great selection with efficient staff seating you and clearing tables. The hotel is in a great position in between the harbour and the beach. The only small negative is that the pool area and bar could be better but was still a relaxing place for an afternoon. Overall, a fantastic hotel with fantastic staff. Porto Colom itself is not a resort like Cala D’Or and there’s not many amenities, shops, bars etc, more a Spanish working town but a very relaxing place for a few days

On the first night, we decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant, and after paying at the entrance, we were shocked by the poor quality of the food. It was clearly not fresh, it had been reheated, and some of it was several days old... As you can see in the photos, some of it was even spoiled! We didn't touch the food and went to the reception to ask to be refunded for dinner. The refund was denied, and on the third and final day of our stay, they finally offered a way to compensate us: a free dinner at the restaurant 😅 The worst service we've ever had, I don't recommend it at all!

Excellent location. and hotel staff friendly nice food Iman on reception. Was very helpful. Rooms nice and clean. Pool area very nice. Had a lovely week very relaxing.Judy and Trevor Dancer
