We’ve just returned from a week holiday at Viva Sunrise and we’ve had an overall great time, so I thought I’d share my honest experience. We arrived at the hotel in the early afternoon and checked in quickly. One thing I really didn’t like is that we had to pay there and then. I’ve never paid upon check in at any hotel I’ve stayed in, only once I’m checking out, and it created a really horrible and awkward experience since we only just had enough funds to pay there and then (we were due to be paid the Tuesday and checked in the Sunday so we were relying on this pay as it was quite expensive for our family of 5 plus being AI). I did feel like this dampened the very start of our stay. I’d read previous reviews of a smell of mold in the rooms, but I didn’t expect to experience it. But we unfortunately did as our room really did have an odd moldy smell to it. However, towards the end of the week I didn’t really notice it any more. Outside of the hotel also had a really horrible drain smell, but you could only smell that once you were out of the hotel. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment and it was so spacious and easily fit our family of 5. The bathroom was huge with two sinks with a nice walk in shower. The pillows on the beds I found incredibly uncomfortable but it was nothing to complain to staff about. The air con also worked fine, but you did need to make sure all doors were shut to get the full affect of it. I do wish that the rooms were deep cleaned more often though, as we were only allocated two days of the week for it to be cleaned, and you could definitely feel dirt on your feet when you walked through the apartment, however the beds were made and towels were re-folded every single day which we really appreciated. One thing I’d recommend is getting a pool view room, as these seem to get the sun on the balcony all day. We unfortunately didn’t have one of these and faced the road, so we got little sun on our balcony. The staff were excellent and as everyone else has already mentioned, the animation team were one of the highlights of the whole trip. My kids loved them and the energy they have is unmatched. Every night there is a kids disco from 8pm-9pm (however it’s not just a disco every single night, they also do karaoke and a circus themed activity etc). My kids looked forward to this every night. We did find ourselves rushing our evening meal though to ensure we go a space in the entertainment area, as if you weren’t there by 8pm you weren’t getting a table, which isn’t ideal if you have young kids wanting to be involved in the disco. The other activities in the day were great and the whole vibe was amazing. We were all inclusive and the food was great. I’ve seen people say that the food is repetitive, but I don’t know what else you would expect when you’re cooking for so many people? The breakfast remained the same every day, but the variety was great (hot food, pancakes and waffles, cereals, fresh fruit, cold cheeses and meats, pastries, toast, yogurts, fresh smoothies and juices etc), but every evening was a different theme (Asian, Mexican, Around the World, Mallorcan etc), so the variety was there. We enjoyed every meal time. My only complaint surrounding this is that it was so hot in the outside area if you wanted to eat outside (there was an indoor area with air con so it’s not the end of the world). They had fans in the outside bit but it made no difference. It was also extremely busy most times, but we did always manage to get a table. The sun bed situation was also frustrating as you really did have to be down early enough to get a sun bed. People were going down early in the morning, putting their towels down, then leaving to go back to their rooms/get breakfast/go out for the morning. We never rushed down and went in our own time and we did get at least 2 beds every day, but ideally we needed 5. We were also part of the selection club so we did have exclusive use of the Oasis Pool area, however we didn’t use this and all of the beds seemed to be taken all day from what we could see anyway. I don’t really think I would buy selection club again, as I really don’t think there’s much use of it when you have small children. There was no parking on site at the hotel, but we did always find a parking space so this was never an issue. Overall, we did have a really great stay which I especially enjoyed more towards the middle to end of our trip once we were aware of everything going on at the hotel and what it had to offer. Like I said, the animation team and the food take all the credit.
We are very happy and satisfied with the hole stay here at viva sunrise and Alcudia overall. Great service at the hotel and good food.
The hotel was very nice and clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool area was fantastic for children, our 4 year old had the time of his life there. We had a good size room, but one of the bedroom doors could not be closed because the bed was to big, and this was a bit inconvenient. The food in the restaurant was very good, but we found the breakfast bufee a bit pricy.
Excellent hotel. Very clean, service and food were brilliant. The room was perfect for a family of 4 with two young teens. About a 5 minute walk from beach. Supermarket on site. 15 minute walk from Hidro Park, a really good water park - lots of slides and very clean. The pools at the hotel are quite shallow, more aimed at kids play than general swimming unless you pay for the upgrade then you get access to another quieter pool.
Wonderful family holiday in alcudia, brilliant location not too far from beach but to be honest we only ventured there a few times as the pools and services within hotel were more than enough. The entertainment team Luigi and girls bringing amazing energy every day and the food was absolutely first class, fresh chicken steak, salads and seafood with desserts that didn’t disappoint either. The room we had was a family suite and slept 4 of us really comfortably (2 adults and 2 older kids) and the cleaning of the whole resort was spotless. I used the gym a few times which is also brilliant and the on site supermarket has great range products and not Too expensive. For bigger range etc there is a SPAR supermarket on the other side of hotel. The area is also nice and quiet in evenings but 1 block away from shops and bars etc.
