Mövenpick Resort & Marine Spa Sousse

Do not come here if you are English or European, you will be immediately discriminated against. We were placed in this hotel after our flight home was cancelled through no fault of our own. Staff were extremely unwelcoming and could tell from the moment we tried to check in they did not want us there, not that we wanted to be there either!! But again we had no choice. In the restaurant you give your room number as you enter as our group was only half board, following this multiple times by different members of staff we were repeatedly asked for our room number while trying to eat our meal. It almost felt as though we were being treated as criminals. Everyone else was seated and the staff were attentive with them but god forbid you were anyone in our group of travellers who had their flight cancelled did not want to serve us at all. During the day at the pool staff put towels and other items on sunbeds and then when certain people come down they move the towels to make it look like they are freeing up the sunbeds for them, in exchange for money of course but they would happily watch me walk around for 10 minutes trying to find somewhere to sit. Being treated like second class citizens is not acceptable for anybody in a 5 star hotel and it’s rich that they can even brand it as that.

During my stay at Mövenpick, I had the pleasure of joining the Aqua Gym sessions with Coach Amine. Amine is a highly professional, energetic, and passionate coach. He knows how to motivate everyone and creates a fun, positive, and friendly atmosphere throughout the session. The workouts are well organized, dynamic, and suitable for different fitness levels. I really appreciated his enthusiasm, professionalism, and dedication to his work. Thank you, Coach Amine, for the great sessions and amazing energy! I highly recommend training with him during your stay at Mövenpick.

We stayed at this hotel for 10 days as a family, and overall we'd give it 3 out of 5 stars. The hotel itself is beautiful, and we really enjoyed the swimming pool and the beach/sea area. However, there were several issues that made our stay disappointing. The biggest problem was the buffet service. Every single meal we had to wait 5–10 minutes just to be served water, even though the staff were around. We also constantly had to ask for knives and forks, and this happened throughout our entire stay. Our room was another letdown. It looked very old and dirty, and our city-view room overlooked an area with a nightclub. Every night from around 11:30 pm until 4:00 am, the music was incredibly loud, making it difficult for our family to sleep. The pool was also not as clean as expected. Our kids found dirty stones and other debris in the water, which wasn't acceptable. Overall, it's an okay hotel with nice surroundings, but the poor service, noisy rooms, and cleanliness issues mean we wouldn't return.

Our biggest disappointment was the different treatment of all inclusive guests versus outside guests. The hotel allows non all inclusive visitors to use the facilities, and staff clearly prioritise them because they pay directly and can tip. At the beach restaurant, we actually witnessed staff arguing over who would serve tables with outside guests, while all inclusive guests were ignored. We were passed between three staff members when trying to order simply because we had all inclusive wristbands. The same happened at the pool, where we often had to get our own towels, drinks, and food. All-inclusive guests also receive a very limited menu compared with paying guests. The overall cleanness was also disappointing: smelly pillows, a blocked sink, stained sun beds, rubbishes left around sun beds for days. Restaurant service was poor, especially at the beginning. We often had to ask multiple times for basic things, tables weren’t properly cleaned or prepared, and we even found a used water bottle left on our table. Service improved slightly towards the end. Reception staff were also, in our experience, unfriendly and dismissive. In my opinion, the main problem is management and the system they have created. The staff seem incentivised to prioritise outside guests who pay directly and tip, while all inclusive guests are treated as less important, even though we have already paid for our stay. The views are beautiful and the kids’ club staff were lovely, but this is nowhere near the luxury five star all inclusive experience that was advertised. I would not recommend it for an all inclusive holiday.
