We chose this hotel for our annual family holiday with our 10-year-old son and my parents. Unfortunately, aside from the fantastic water slides, the hotel fell well below our expectations. Upon arrival, we were checked in swiftly, which was appreciated. However, there were no welcome drinks or refreshments offered. Unfortunately, our first impressions of the hotel weren't particularly positive. While walking to our rooms, there was a terrible smell of sewage in the corridors. We also noticed cracks in the walls, and the hotel generally looked quite old and tired. Our rooms were in Block 9, which we were very happy with as it was close to all the amenities. The rooms themselves are quite small, although we were pleased that our son was given a proper bed rather than a sofa bed. The room also had a large balcony. Wardrobe space is very limited, so we had to leave a lot of our belongings in our suitcases throughout the stay. The bathroom had a large, spacious shower, but don't expect a hot shower in the evening; the water was only lukewarm. The towels were also extremely rough, almost like sandpaper. Hand wash and shower gel were provided. The service throughout the hotel was very inconsistent. Only a handful of staff members were genuinely polite and helpful. Unfortunately, there were two incidents that we found particularly unacceptable. The first was at the out-of-hours restaurant. I asked the chef if he could prepare a plain burger for my son, with just the meat and bun. Instead, he began picking the vegetables out of an existing burger. I asked again if he could make a fresh, plain burger. He walked away and returned with a burger containing what appeared to be a frozen bun. I found this extremely concerning, particularly when preparing food for a child. I would much rather have been told that the request could not be accommodated than have food served in this way. In our opinion, this was simply unacceptable and rude, certainly not the level of service we would expect from a five-star hotel, or frankly even a one-star hotel. The second incident was at the jacket potato stand. I watched the server put on gloves and then wipe his face and mouth with them before continuing to serve food. I found this absolutely disgusting and, needless to say, I did not feel comfortable eating anything from that station afterwards. The chefs and food-service staff really need to improve their standards. Seeing something like this in a hotel advertised as five-star was genuinely shocking. The food was one of the biggest disappointments of the holiday. The buffet was complete chaos, with nowhere near enough tables for the number of guests. On several occasions, we spent around 20 minutes walking around aimlessly trying to find somewhere to sit and eat. The hotel does have themed dinner nights, such as Turkish Night and International Night. However, we found that the themed nights didn't really offer much variety. Turkish Night seemed to be largely the same food with perhaps a few additional dishes, while International Night was particularly disappointing. I struggled to find anything that could genuinely be described as international. The behaviour of many guests didn't help either. Unfortunately, we found the majority to be extremely rude and lacking basic manners constant pushing in, which made the dining experience even more unpleasant. If you enjoy cocktails while on holiday, don't expect much here. The drinks selection is very basic, with only standard spirits available. There is a mojito stand, and thankfully the person working there was very friendly, polite and welcoming. However, if you like rainbows, you've definitely come to the wrong place! Our son had been looking forward to trying a Rainbow cocktail all year. We asked at all of the bars, including the bar in the lobby, but unfortunately nobody could make one. It became something of a running joke during the holiday! The unlimited ice cream and cakes were good, which was one of the few positives when it came to the food. It's just a shame the main meals were so disappointing. The water slides are, without a doubt, the best feature of this hotel. They are fantastic and were the main reason our holiday wasn't a complete disaster. Our son absolutely loved them. We never had any trouble finding a sunbed, although they are positioned very close together and the surrounding areas could have been kept much cleaner. The pool towels provided are also extremely small, roughly half the size of a standard bath towel. This was very strange and not particularly practical. The beach is a mixture of sand and pebbles, and the sea was quite choppy during our stay. On our final day, we asked for a late check-out (we were fine with paying) nothing available, fair enough. We were informed we could use the spa showers and changing rooms; upon arriving to use the facilities, we were directed to two showers down the corridor opposite the sauna which were not private, or had any locks. The changing room was simply a shower curtain down the corridor anyone could just open. I then asked if they had a hairdryer and then was directed to the proper changing rooms, why were we not directed there in the first place? Sadly, we would not recommend this hotel in its current state. The water slides are fantastic, but they cannot make up for the poor food, inconsistent service, hygiene concerns, tired appearance of the hotel and general lack of organisation.
I came here this year also because I like it before. It's better then I remember. They added very nice things in 2 years. The mini club added another location for children which is fun. The ala carte restaurants no need reservation now and its free. Very good hotel. I want to try other Crystal Hotel next time
Mini club is very good. The staf are very kind.
Cheap and cheerful ……… (being polite) The hotel is very large, lots for the kids to do,lots of bars and food to eat (but at very restricted times. Last available food is at 9.30pm), kids enjoyed the water park. None of the recent negative reviews are fabricated hence why they have the same complaints. None of which staff care about, so a waste of your time complaining once there. - staff are RUDE and unhelpful - not many speak English - rooms are basic which is fine but never cleaned properly - extremely over crowded - once you check in you are just left to figure out where everything is. Even the map that was printed was done with faded ink so hard to make anything out - entertainment doesn’t start until about 9.30pm. Even on holiday that’s quite late for children - food in the main hall including basic breakfast is a 3/10 and that’s being generous as the grill was nice. Flies everywhere with no real means of trying to keep them away so constantly pitching on food - guests are rude, cut the queues. Staff do nothing about it if you are able to speak the same language you are shown preferential treatment - not enough bedding after the 3rd day of requesting it we found the cleaners trolley and helped ourselves - food in the Italian restaurant was disgusting. Luke warm at best. - you are basically allowed to smoke anywhere you want. Outdoor food areas, by the pool etc. - I was asked by trip advisor to remove this line however I do feel it’s important to forwarn others that not everyone is made to feel welcome here, we absolutely were discriminated and that is from staff and guests!! Other than that you will have to make it what you need it to be as we did.
We’ve just got back at 4am this morning , would avoid this place like the plague 🤢.absolutely disgusting, and really furious. 11 of us went. A few of us poorly with bad stomachs. Food not great, al acartes are okay but super busy, main restaurant is literally like feeding time at a piranha tank. The pool side floors are constantly soaking with water (to be expected) but never squeegeed making it extremely dangerous to walk, we witnessed at least 11 people slip while we was there, a few required doctor for stitches, I actually slipped in the bathroom on the floor that was full of water no wet floor sign, ruined my holiday as it was day 2, couldn’t move my arm and my whole hip is bruised. Meaning couldn’t swim or use slides etc, they don’t have enough rooms for people, we paid for 3 rooms they gave us 2 and told our daughter to sleep on the sofa with no bedding?, once they did move us, we had no bed covers, we had a tiny little hessian blanket? That didn’t even come up to your knees? Tiles round pool were chipped and cracked, mould under rim of pool, rooms were not very clean, showers covered in mould, toilet rolls not replaced when house keeping have been in?! Moved the bed when I dropped something underneath it and there was white tablets and a little kids toy under it along with numerous dust and dirt 🤢. Whole hotel stunk of cigarette smoke everywhere you went, reception rude and couldn’t care less, everyone pushing and shoving. Honestly would have enjoyed setting fire to almost 8 grand more than spending the week here. Staff couldn’t care less. Hotel is filthy
